Odd fellow Whit thinks to himself as he wanders over to the diary on the shelf and begins to leaf through it. He looks towards the other items, "What an odd collection of items. Why purple? Surely coloring everything purple cannot be a viable business model."
"Purple is what Xoblob likes, so purple is what Xoblob sells!" The gnome shouts happily.
Kaivus picks up a small wooden music box, carefully painted in shades of purple. It emits a tune that is dimly familiar from her childhood, but one she can't seem to place. A feeling of warm nostalgia fills her. "That's a magic box! Once owned by the Count of Visgaroth! Very rare! only 3 gold dragons for you today!"

Whit replaces the diary, and looks at Xoblob curiously, "Well it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance and to peruse your wares, now what do you have that you're really proud of? What is the most exciting purple you sell?"
Kaivius picks up the music box and a tune she almost remembers tinkles out. At the edge of her consciousness, she can sense memories not quite complete. Memories she had pushed down and hidden to keep the pain from leaking out.
Shaking her head, she comes back to the present. Whit makes some comment while standing with his nose so far in the air it almost touches the ceiling. She catches her eyes drifting back to the music box. Maybe it's time for the memories to resurface. She thinks. Maybe I'm finally ready.
She turns her attention back to the conversation between Whit and Xoblob, patiently waiting for a time to make an offer on the trinket.
"Oh, interested in my rarest wares, are we? Well then, take a look... AT THIS!" He pulls from a pocket a silver, metallic humanoid skull, the size of a gold dragon. The silver skull has different shades of purple swirls died in, where it obviously rejected the die he tried to use, but it is strangely beautiful. "This is the skull of King Perilidilium, the last king of the Achrotites! Very lucky, very lucky, only 4 dragons for you today!"

What a curious little skull, Kaivius thinks while moving slightly closer for a better look. The silvery traces on the skull are definitely pretty, and Kaivius can tell by Whit's face that he's captivated. Best make sure the skull isn't harmful.

On second thought, best make sure this music box isn't going to kill me either. Better safe than sorry.
Neither items seem to be harmful at all. In fact, everything in here is extraordinarily ordinary. You find it strange, now that you think about it, that a shop seems to be doing well with only these ordinary trinkets to offer. Still, the two you've found are at least interesting.
Though he isn't pressing you for information, you gather that his store, though full of interesting items, may be a hub for rumors as well as objects. If you buy some items from him, he may share information about your quarry.
Continuing with her notes, Odrith might think she hadn't heard him. But then her claws stop their scribbling and Chalk answers, "enough tales to fill a thousand nights." Her eyes slightly apologetic at the explanation. It wasn't the easiest of stories to explain where she came from and the lack of good words didn't help.
She rummages in her pack and brings out her battered board. "Manages to survive your travels," she intones as she begins to put her namesake to the board. "Be sure to copy the pages exactly," she speaks in a more feminine voice, "This volume has been flying off the shelves and there isn't another shipment for for months." And then another more irritated voice from another time, "A dozen them where's the twelth gone? And where'd these flowers come from?"
She continues her efforts before revealing the drawing to Odrith. It was a series of snow capped mountains, somehow seeming large even on the small surface. She says something in Auran before repeating in common, "Home".

"Well my good sir, I think that I will just have to purchase this skull." Whit glances over at Kaivius holding the music box, "As well as the music box for my friend as well." He pulls 7 dragons out and hands them to the gnome. "Say you wouldn't happen to have seen a young man, reddish hair about yay high, running around with a handsome gentlemen a few nights ago?"
"You'll be very happy with these!" he says, handing over the skull and pocketing the gold. "A young man and a handsome gentleman you say? Looking very regal? ... yes, yes, now that I think about it, two such fellas got jumped right right outside my shop a couple of nights ago. Ol' Xoblob," he motions towards the small beholder in the window, "saw the whole thing. I think there were five rough looking hooligan men who attacked, none looked familiar though. He didn't see which way they went, though." ...
"Oh, I dunno if it's important, but one of the men had a black tattoo of a winged snake on his neck. Not sure if that means anything to you."

As Whit hands the gnome his gold, Kaivius smiles. Maybe the elf did have some use. And the extra info about their quarry helped. That bit about the tattoo, though, that was interesting. Could be a gang tattoo?

She turns to Whit and says "Perhaps this is something Odrith might know more about. He's spent more time here" Kaivius starts moving towards the door of the shop.
"Looks like you still don't have enough words for me to understand. Whit is normally decent at understanding your word play, but I have no skill at it. Do you think they found any sweets inside?" Odrith asks, his tongue flicking out.
Chalk shrugs. She isn't really convinced they would, it didn't exactly smell like a bakery about but smells could be deceiving. "Any sweets inside?" She mimics a burst of laughter they could just hear over the din.
"A winged snake tattoo, interesting. Well thank you for your time and your wares." Whit gives a slight bow and flashes a smile before nodding at Kaivius to leave. He heads out of the store and says to Odrith "Sorry no sweets, but we did get a lead. You ever seen a winged snake tattoo before? Maybe a gang or a cult? They seem to be involved in whatever happened to Volo's friend."
"No sweets." But the news on Floon did get Chalk to perk up a little bit. "Kiddnapped or worse," she asks in Volo's own speculation. She begins to pack up her things rapidly, spending a moment to wipe off the board with her feathers before storing it in her bag. She'd have to keep an eye out for something that looked like that in the future. She looks over Kavius and Whit, head tilting slightly in curiosity, "Something a little more intimidating."

"I'll have to satiate my sweet tooth elsewhere." Odrith dictates in a lowered, soft tone.
"Umm... the tattoo." Odrith says, eyes kind of staring off in contemplation, lips going over his scaly lips, still sad over not having any sweets.

"Nope.... Nope. No recollection, but that might just be the hunger speaking. It is prob a gang symbol of some kind but none that I know of. Can we try to find some sweet mulled wine and candied apples?" Odrith says, in his towering, almost seven foot tall form, covered in heavy armor and armed with a large shield and hefty flail.
If he keeps eating sweets at this rate, he'll be a seven foot tall paper weight before long. Kaivius thinks to herself. Best find Odrith some sweets though before he started breaking things, not much that could be done when his sweet tooth was aching.
"Do you want to try the tavern at the end of the lane or does it not suit your fancy?"
Odrith slowly turns toward the tavern that he forgot he was supposed to be watching. A silly, goofy grin gradually appears on his golden face. Already walking over, "Fantastic idea Kaivius. First round on me!" Odrith bellows without looking back.

Kaivius's spirit falls. She will have to make do with her old staff until an armory or the like can be found. Hopefully it would last until then.
Disheartened, Kaivius gestures to the nearest bauble. "What does this do? Anything really cool?"
