Gremryl will walk over to Hemeth, nervous, but trying not to show it. He hopes, against all hopes, Hemeth will not turn his back on his, or worse.. give him back to the guards.
"Hemeth! Moradins beard, you're a sight for a dwarven eye! (Gremryl still in pain stands up straighter) We made it to ye fine city brother! How are ye? I see ye have the halfing over there plumped up, bet he's been loving it here eh? haltings always enjoy cities, you know back in Adbar we had a halfing section.. we called it "half-town" because ye know.. they all be halfings... I would of had the Giant, but I saw ye all had a handle on it.. see me shield! Elmo somehow put my dear Bella into it.. I can feel Moradins power in it aye! I'll have to inspect it further..(he stares sidelong at the guards.. still unsure).. ah.. where be master Leon.. He's a fine cleric ye know.. did I tell ye tis a fine city ye have here lad! "
He subconsciously holds his shield up in a defensive posture while running his hand through his bloody matted hair and beard.
While rambling on, he'll do a perception check around the area to see if the guards are prepping to roll up on him and the general mode about the crowd 23
He's basically trying to play it cool, and rambling on.. let me know what I Gotta roll if needed and I'll edit to roll.
Leon gets up off of the stone giant and checks his surrounding. Feeling this stone giant is somehow part of the greater community and just had a freak out, Leon cast cure wounds on the stone giant and removes the arrow Elmo launched into him.
Leon walks up behind Grem as he approaches and whispers
”That was almost an apology buddy. Maybe think of one while I talk to Hemmy and Elmo. I think we are still on the train to slavery-ville if Hemmy doesn’t save our ass.”
Leon turns Hemmeth
“Aren’t you a sight for sore eyes. Thank you for the assist and this momentary freedom. It seems the devil child and Grem got us in a spot of trouble at the front gate. They mostly killed the ***** and some big brute knocked Grem unconscious. Think you could put in a good word for us? Slavery isn’t my thing.”
Leon turns to Elmo
”Congrats on finally killing one of your greatest enemies or rescuing her from a more horrible fate. Whichever way you look at it there wasn’t much of a life if she lived. How’s was your trip to G-town? Hope it was better then our. Fargas sends his regards by the way.”
Elmo runs up to Grem while holding back tears! Weather its due to his fondness for his friend, or that he can now leave the underdark, water is leaving Elmo's eyes.
I knew ye'd be alive mate! Yer too damn bloody stuborn to die! (Elmo jumps into Grem's arms sideways while laughing and crying) I was just coming to rescue ye... and whats left of ye beard! (Elmo playfully pulls on Grem's Beard)
(Elmo jumps out of Grem's arms) Now let get the hell out of here mate.
To Loen
FARGAS! Thats shite! Dont tell me he lived!? (elmo calms himself) That shite taught me a tough lesson. At the same time, his death will haunt me a bit I think.
(Elmo enthusiastically snaps out of a pensive stare)
Fine looking beard lad! (He shakes Leon's hand) About the lass, ye be right on both counts. The world is a better place without her, but it didn't seem right to let a child suffer. Even if she deserved it. Ye spent a good deal of time with her, what type of monster do ye think she would have grown up to be? If her foolishness didnt get her killed before then. I was able to get her items before they fell into a guards pocket. After I pay off Hem for Grem's shield, Ill give ye the rest. Ye should take this ring (Elmo gives Leon Morg's ring of spell storing), I think ye would do good with it. (Elmo pauses) Im glad ye survived mate. Yer a good man. They be in short supply down here.
To Hem
I cant thank ye enough for yer kindness mate (Elmo gives Hem all the gold jewelry that Morg looted from the tomb). I hope this settles us up for the shield mate. Lets all (Elmo motions to Grem and Leon) go get a drink! We got things to discuss, apologies to be made, I personally have some "I told ye so's" that I cant wait to get off my chest! And after some tough looking Goliath shite head leaves the brothel, Ill take ye by there! Grem I think they may be able to scrounge up some tentacles! (Elmo Laughs heartily)
Gremryl notices that the Duergar Guards are at the ready to engage with anybody who steps out of line. They don't appear to be encroaching any closer to the group and are standing their ground, awaiting instructions from one of the Captains.
Hemeth gets up from his armbar lock an stands tall (for a dwarf) as he brushes himself off. Paying only marginal attention to Gremryl at this point, he turns to the Dwarf and says,
Hemeth - "Look at where your loyalties got ya, Gremryl Stonebreaker." Motioning to the dismembered body of Morgana, and the Duergar Guards surrounding them. "Keep your mouth shut tight and let me do the talking lest you end up like her."
Gremryl looks at Morgana torn up body and thinks to himself... Could he have done more to show her Moradins way? Is there more he could of done? He knows the answer, and like it or not, she was doomed to follow in the anger of her demon father. But as in the Adbar Army, when you muck up, you drive on.
As elmo jumps in his arms, his heart warms, maybe a tear is shed, his face is caked in blood and you can't really tell. But seeing Elmo indeed gives him joy!
He whispers to elmo "Aye, if they don't put me back in chains sounds good enough.. A Goliath ye say.. I almost slayed one outside the gates. There are tales to be told, and amends to make. but we'll see. "
And he shuts up to let Hemeth speak with the guards.
Hemeth now turning his attention to Leon, reaches out with an arm and a smile and says,
Hemeth - "Well, I see you've brought your group to the gates...and met with some misfortune, eh?" he says gruffly yet compassionately. "I can't honestly say that I'm surprised the girl met the untimely fate she did...but I am saddened for you if it was a loss you held dear." Nodding towards Morgana's dismembered body once again. "That Dwarf of yours on the other hand...he doesn't think too brightly before speaking does he? Best he keep his thoughts in whatever makes for a brain in the thick skull of his or else not even my influence will save him from being sold on the slavery block."
Hemeth then turns towards the Stone Giant who pacified the rampaging Stone Giant.
Before Elmo can make his comments to Hemeth, the Duergar approaches the Stone Giant who seems to be waiting to have words with the group after subduing the rampaging Stone Giant.
Hemeth - "I know of you. Dorhun is it not? He is of your kind, yet clearly not of his own mind. We're lucky to have been here when he appeared. The damage he could have caused with his strength alone could have been severe." he says in a very diplomatic tone.
Studying the Duergar's body language before responding, Dorhun says,
Rihuud - "Yes. Grateful are we apprentices of the Stonespeaker Hgraam to not have lost one of our own this day. Rihuud there was "communing with the stone" in Cairngorm Cavern when he went mad, sprouted a second head, and stormed out. I came rushing after him." he says, grateful that Rihuud still lives. "Please, won't you visit Cairngorm Cavern before you leave the city? There are things the Stonespeaker may wish to discuss with you." he says with a slight bow.
Hemeth - "Aye. We'll do so. Take care Stonespeaker Apprentice Dorhun." he says again in a very diplomatic tone. You're not sure if he's being sincere but it sounds as if he is. Now turning to Elmo, Leon and Gremryl he says, "I think it's best if we take our leave. I'll handle the guards."
You see Hemeth walk over to one of the Captains and while you can't make out the exchange of words, you do see an exchange of coin during the discourse. Hemeth then walks back to the group.
Leon shakes Elmo has and turns to follow Hemmeth with him.
“Thank you for the ring my good man. Fargas was a specter that tried to kill us. Told us to apologize to you as we kill him in some tomb. I got me a sweet new sword from the deal. Speaking of which, you know any good spots to take a lady on a proper date in this town?”
Leon puts Morgana’s ring on his finger and says to Dawnbringer “May this be a reminder to not do stupid shit or let those around you do stupid shit or we will share the same fate as this arrogant suicidal soul”
"Fargas told us to tell you to 'get rich or die trying' eh! Well he died indeed. You look quite healthy master halfing. This city has treated you quite well by the roundness of your belly. This shield is magnificent Elmo, sincerely. Me heart warms at seeing Bella back to good use."
Gremryl pointedly avoids talking about Morgana at this point.
To Leon:
"Well, we got in and you still have the medallion Hemeth gave you. Looks like we won after all? To think, we may have gotten through the gate, with nothing insults being thrown instead of this old dwarf being thrown by the giant. but I almost had him eh!"
Before you take more than a few steps from the scene, a group of 4 Stone Guards led by what appears to be a captain type approaches you stands in front of your path.
Stone Guard Captain - "Woah there, Master Hemeth. You may be free to walk these cities as one of our kind...but these foreigners have no such rights." he addresses Hemeth. "These strangers are hereby ordered to follow us to Overlake Hold for further questioning and make their business in Gracklstugh known."
Hemeth lets out an audible sigh.
Hemeth - "They're under my watch and they go where I go. Since when does the Stone Guard have interest in Holderhek business?" he says with a questioning yet respectful attitude.
Stone Guard Captain - "Aye, we're not interested in your business, Master Holderhek. It's those that arrived here, caused a stir at the city gates, and even that one there who we've heard set a new record at the Twin Boulders this past week. Surely you don't mean to challenge the Stone Guard do you?"
Hemeth turns towards you and says,
Hemeth - "You've got a decision to make. Overlake Hold now, or before you leave the city. Refusing to go at all, or worse, lying about your intentions to go later would be serious cause for repercussions in Gracklstugh."
What is the group's decision? Go to Overlake Hold now, or before you leave the city?
“I say we take care of matters first and then catch up. Speaking of which Hemmeth, I don’t know what can be done but Stool was left outside the city gates for some reason. I fear the defenseless little guy may be in some trouble. Anything we can to do save him at any point?”
"Aye, I agree with the Cleric, I have nothing to hide as to my reasonings for coming here and I mean to cause no Harm or tomfoolery while in you city Master Hemeth. Lets be on with it and to the Hold"
Having not get the warmest reception from what he still thinks as his brother, and frankly he's a bit hurt. He speaks more 'respect' and formality so as to not cause ire or frankly get made fun of again..
Hemeth - "So be it then. I'll stay with ya to make sure you're questioned fairly." he says in a grim tone. Turning to the Stone Guard Captain he says, "Lead the way, Captain and be quick about it. I've got a date with a cask of finely aged ale back at the brewhouse. There's a mug with your name on it still hanging from the mantle if I'm not mistaken."
Stone Guard Captain - "Hah! Let's make sure we fill it to the brim then. After we ensure these ones aren't here for malicious purposes, eh?" and with that he heads onward to Overlake Hold as his Stone Guards motion for you to follow.
As gremryl walks he takes in the sights and attempts to clean himself up and be presentable for the interrogation. He looks at Leon and walks with him to talk
"Leon my boy, think you can help an old dwarf get a bit more cleaned up? I have blood and dirt in me beard, and thats no way for a paladin to present himself to this interview eh.. Have you talked to our young shroom Stool? When this is over we'll talk about what happened with the Lass, hard lessons learned and I feel partly repsonible. After you gave them the finger, I could of walked away, and maybe we could of found another way in, but I let my arrogance get in the way, and foolishly thought that Arse of a guard (he says that in whisper). I should of known there would be some trickery, my apologies lad for getting us dragged into this and almost sold into slavery, although you know I wasn't gonna let me boy go down that path... "
Leon takes some of the water in his hands and washes his own face and beard off. Leon holds Grem shield for him and allows him to clean up.
”Grem I fear Stool is lost for the time being. Hemmeth doesn’t seem to care at the moment either. Hopefully the little bastard will find a safe place to hide. As far as what happened outside the gates, I appreciate you sticking up for us. Let us just try to make smarter plays from here on out. I don’t need you ending up like Morgana. We will do a full break down of today’s events over a nice ale. You mind if we call off the beard contest for now... since we lost two judges?”

Leon remains standing in place after being disregarded by Hemmeth. As the group is a little ahead and out of ear shot Leon whispers
Leon knowing it won’t work still try’s to telepathically communicate with Stool as he follows the group
As gremryl walks he takes in the sights and attempts to clean himself up and be presentable for the interrogation. He looks at Leon and walks with him to talk
“Sure thing Grem. Turn you shield over to act like a bucket”
Leon casts create or destroy water and fills Grems shield with water.
”This is the best I can do at the moment.”
