Reverie Forestgleam—Human Paladin Level 5 in Frontier City of Nunkreet Extremely busy and busy as ever recently, but I will trying to catch up as much as I can
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Reverie is allowed a round 4 action, since Trimyrai restored her health before her initiative. And Divine Smite can be decided after the hit, so you can use it for the round 3 hit, if you want to.)
(Edit: I'm going to move things forward a bit. Have Reverie use a spell slot for the round 3 Smite, and attack the basilisk after standing up on round 4.
Beegred Thornpost - Lvl 8 Halfling Ranger - Out of the Abyss by Kerrec Drusk - Lvl 8 Half-Orc Life Cleric - The Long Road: Dragon Heist by Mingofaust (player & current DM) Hunferho Aelorothi - Lvl 5 Half-Elf Bard/Rogue - Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus (by Pokepaladdy) DM - Frontier City of Nunkreet (ended)
Jack - The snow facade on Jack's statue starts to melt.
Froskan - Tries to hit the basilisk with the cold orb, but only gets a glancing shot at the agile monster. For a moment, their eyes lock, but in his anger, Froskan's draconic eyes causes the basilisk to blink! (No petrification.)
Trimyrai - Uses a healing potion on Reverie. He almost spills the potion, but then takes a deep breath and gets it into Reverie's mouth. (Maximum roll, 10 points healed)
Iskander - Transfers the Hex to the basilisk, causing his glaive strike to widen the wound. (14 damage more)
Reverie - After being revived by Trimyrai, she stands up and strikes at the basilisk, avoiding the gaze. The dagger glances off the reptilian hide again, but is just able to penetrate the scaly hide. She is able to get a strike into its mouth (8 points of maximum slashing damage) and sends a surge of divine energy along the blade (10 radiant damage).
(32 points this turn, along with the 21 points before, is enough.) The basilisk head is almost hacked off. As it perishes, the eyes are burned out.

Your group glances around cautiously, but there are no more (intact) statues in either room, and this basilisk is dead.
Froskan looks over Jack's statue, and thinks about his arcane knowledge. Unlike the basilisk's effect, the stone cursed sludge causes temporary petrification. Normally it lasts 24 hours, but this batch seems to be less potent. If you wait half a day, Jack will be restored. (With the time limit on this assignment, you can do a long rest now, but won't be able to do a second one and still have time to finish.)

"It may be worth setting up some barricade in this room and waiting to see if Jack recovers from his currently stoney demeanor. My glaive will give us a warning if anything comes through, so we could all rest at the same time."
(Will wait to see if someone wants to do something different than a long rest.)
The area that used to be a dining room is a mess. More debris is piled up next to the double doors; it would have been tough to get through them. There are three basilisk-sized cages, all torn apart. Pieces of statue, leftover meat from the kitchen, and the bones from another basilisk are scattered everywhere. You have also found out what basilisk dung looks and smells like (unpleasant).
From what you can tell, the food ran out. One basilisk ended up eating the other one. (The third basilisk was dissected in the master bedroom.) It also fed on statues. You've read that basilisks bite into petrified victims, and some gland in their stomachs change the stone back to flesh so it can digest it.

(Jack's statue weighs about 500 pounds. Tipping it over is fairly easy. Moving it without breaking off an arm or a leg would be difficult without a wagon and proper lifting equipment.)

"We're looking at probably about a half a day's wait for him to unpetrify," Froskan says with a wave at jack. "Do we want to explore any more while we wait? I'm not opposed to just resting here until we wakes up either. I'm getting pretty close to being out of my more powerful magic."
Reverie looks back at Jack for a moment and then to the others in the party, considering for a moment. "Iskandar's suggestion sounds great. I guess it would be great to have some rest before we could proceed on our search. Hopefully, Jack can come back to normal by the next day."

After Trimyrai says those words, the house creaks ominously. But it is only the wind shifting the house.
The party moves some of the heavier objects (chairs and parts of tables) to the kitchen entrance door, so it can't be opened while you are resting. You set up a guard rotation, and use the lantern in the center of the room for additional light. Over the hours, the house moans and groans from the wind or temperature variations, but it is very quiet. Surprisingly so, not even the scuttling of rats in the walls that you would expect from an old house.
At the end of the long rest (just after midnight outside), your group starts to pack up and put on your equipment, when you feel concerned, a warning from Iskander's weapon. You see the handle of the kitchen door start to slowly turn. It does this a few more times, with the door being pushed gently. (Someone or something trying to be stealthy?) The obstacles you stacked up keep the door closed. After 12 seconds of this, you hear footsteps moving away. Sounds barefoot; definitely not shoes or metal boots.
The four of you are standing by the door with your weapons ready. You turn around to discover Jack, flesh & blood, looking over your shoulders in curiosity.
(Everyone, Jack included, gets a Long Rest. When you are ready, your party easily moves aside the objects and can open the kitchen door. Post 1898 shows how much of the house you have searched so far.)

Isk lowers his glaive and, with this free hand, claps Jack on the shoulder, "Jack! Glad to see you're ok, " he pauses for a moment and his face turns serious, "What was is like?"
Reverie sighs and lowers her weapons after seeing Jack back to normal. “I am glad you are all right, Jack.” A pause. “Anyway, it seems like there is a new guest in this house.”

(If your group wants to check something else before going upstairs, that will be done. I'll go through the bits that won't require active decisions.)
Your party exits the kitchen, walks to the south, and opens the east door of the entrance area. It is basically a large closet (10' by 20'), although from the dust it hasn't been used in a long time. There is a ladder leading up to a storage area on the second floor above this room, but there is nothing useful in either area.
You head west and go up the stairs. As you round the corner on the upper floor, you see 5 stands (pedestals) along the northern side of the walkway. The first two have suits of armor. Four of you have martial training, but even Froskan can tell that these are ornamental armor: flashy looking, lightweight, and useless in actual combat. The next 2 stands are empty, and haven't been used in some time. The last stand has been used more recently. At a guess, the boot imprints are consistent with the remnants of the helmed horror armor that you left by the entrance.
You travel east, and look north. The hallway has doors on the east and west side 15' to your north, and a 3rd door at the end of the hallway 40' to your north.
