This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
ok, I put Odysseus at level 12, hence a little recap because maybe I won't use the second divine smite:
- I have strength at 20 (+1 damages for every of the two attacks) and improved divine smite (since I have hit twice, it is 2 for the first and 8 for the second )
Regardless, the damage speaks. The baddie is dead. To the right, a little bit farther on (20 feet), there's an open doorway looking like it leads into a room. There's also a door way about 40 feet away on the left side leading into a room. Beyond that, there's a cross-way (4 way intersection) ahead - 60 feet away.

The monster is for sure dead, as far as you can tell. Thick blood is beginning to pool around it on the floor.
Nothing of note on it either, save a trinket of sorts; a pendant around its thick neck, barely visible from how it’s collapsed on the floor.
You peer inside the room to the right (closest room -and you didn’t hear anything besides some clicking as before from the constructs of sorts from further down the hallway; seems they must’ve run away before the fight started).
Inside is a desk, a few bookshelves lining the walls, two chests on the left and right of the desk along the wall, a cloak lying on the floor just in front of the desk, and a strange bottle of liquid on the desk itself.
Most of the furniture is in a rotted state. Some of the books on the shelves seem they’ve weathered the passage of time.
Room dimensions: 20 feet wide by about 22 feet long and 9 feet high to the ceiling.
What was once probably a fine red carpet is frayed and torn on many places as what’s left of it is underneath the cloak on the floor.
Jemrosh, pulling his composure together, makes a sound of astonishment. “Wretched, friends,” he whispers. “This is truely astonishing.”
Then he makes a sound. A gurgling sound from deep within himself. “Lo, I do not feel right inside!” He collapses to the floor. He opens his mouth to scream, but nothing comes out. “Oh, oh.” He grabs the sides of his head with his hands. “No, no no no. It is not...my time...yet. Please!” He begins to bang his head on the floor repeatedly.
”Good-bye, dear Wretched O...” He stops moving.
Motionless on the floor.
His body begins to evaporate into the air as white ash.

Odysseus kneels to help Jemrosh as soon as he feels bad.
As soon as he starts turning into dust, Odysseus pulls back, a little suprised but mostly disgusted.
He looks around with eyes and mouth wide open. He would like to scream but nothing comes out of his mouth.
The paladin is rational : He tries to gather his thoughts
He killed that monster, they entered here, Jemrosh saw the cloak, what is happening? why so? why???
All those questions have no answers, at least not yet
This has no sense...no sense at all, at least not yet. I am sorry for the meek Jemrosh but something is connected with this Machine and what happened to him, even if I really cannot get any... we are testifying horrible things, and this is just one more. I am not even sure if we must be sorry for him...
Wrath is growing even more inside him
If there is a will behind this whole situation, is a fool one!
After a long breath, he continues
Let's understand little by little, we are in this room, what is it?
He looks around trying to understand what happened: he looks at the cloak, touching it with the scimitar first.
if nothing happens, he uses the weapon to lift it up, to look at it and to see if there is something below.

You’re right to worrry, Odysseus. Something seems very strange and sudden with how Jemrosh suddenly vanished from this mortal coil. He did say they are reborn and killed over and over. Poor fellow.
Alzaren, silver in color and looking well worn, the pendant opens up. Inside is a picture of a family. A little girl and a mother and father. Heart-wrenching if it was indeed belonging to this monster. Perhaps he wasn’t always...

To be clear, it wasn’t the cloak that did anything to Jemrosh...
And as you poke it with your weapon, it shudders. Once.
Twice.
Violently, it whips into the air.
Red eyes. Soft looking pale underside. A long tail. Looks like an angry stingray.
Roll for initiative.

total:
alzaren total: 48 hp
Odysseus first attack: 7 (not 6)+ 21 divine smite (radiant) + 4 improved divine smite (radiant) = 32
total before my second attack: 80hp
is it enough to kill the monster before my second attack? if Yes, I don't spoil the second spell
sorry for the confusion but, even if we are strong, we are short of everything

Odysseus touches the body of the collapsed monster to be 100% sure it is moving anymore, if content he continues further on.
If he arrives at the first doorway, he opens his ears and, if he hears nothing, he peers into the room
Alzaren pauses on the way past the monster to search it for anything of interest.

“Books and boxes. Useless! Except, perhaps those pages can be of use for when I must relieve myself” Boran shrugs and walks toward a random book.
(Me posting the wrong name :P. One of my characters in another campaign)

Boran, there a few books intact. They are:
Radshins Book of Helpful Advice (various topics from how to clean spores from a corpse to keeping a good garden).
Gredwell’s Keeping Your Head on Your Shoulders (various types of decapitation and how to avoid being decapitated).
Horror Stories for Young Children by Jules Hellfink (obvious). Those are the ones that stood the test of time.
The more serious looking volumes are all destroyed.
A small key and note are also on the shelf. It looks new compared to the rest of the surroundings.
