Investigation invites you to perceive that the stones are in every way exactly like the pillars, except in one way. The stones are round. Looking back at the pillars, they are pointed at the ends in various directions.
"Ah, you see, Wretched friend!" says Jemrosh.
"The pillars are the key. A friend of mine whom I've forgotten his name told me this many deaths ago. It is the one thing I remember most. He told me, he did. 'Those pillars, those pillars are the key. Unlock them and see!'"
To Perzival's comment about flying, Jemrosh jests. "Oh, to fly. Would that it could be so easily contrived as to fly over the Sea of the Dead. But there's the rub, now is it not? The temple of past importance is IN the Sea of the Dead. Problematic, wretched friend. Very problematic, indeed."

Boran scratches his head and looks at the orc, “does that happen often?” Pointing to where Wooby once stood. Toward the rest of the group, “perhaps we should figure this thing out so we can leave.
@perzival “no offense, but you look smart. What do you make of these stones?”
Just saw your question posted. Sorry :(.
Jemrosh answered, "Oh, it does. From time to time. One never knows when it's one's time!" Wretched ones, time is sideways in this realm. Be on your best guard."

Odysseus listens to the words of the half elf that add some more oddity to the whole picture , thinking
at least this one looks normal, not like this dark mother and those wrecks...
he gives up trying to understand the meaning of their presence here, though he doesn’t like to, he turns to what seems to be the next matter of interest : the pillars: he goes to examine them
Upon examination of the pillars of question, as there are seven of them, you notice that they are large and round at the base. They are each their own interpretation of a whethered grey and black.
Tortured stone has persevered itself against the rust of time quite well. Each point is directed in a different way at the top of each, no two facing the same way.
At eye level on each pillar is a curious lever, each lever in random directions at some point on a 360 circumference.

Odysseus, when you go to pull or tug on one of them, you notice that it has full 360 maneuverability. Odd, since levers typically move in a horizontal or vertical way.
In what direction do you move it?

When you finish moving the last lever in accordance with the direction the point of the pillars are facing at the top, the island begins to violently vibrate for a few moments.
Then, slowly and loudly, the Sea of the Dead begins to part, leaving a space directly north open. A ladder is clearly visible, shining wet with recently departed sea water, that leads down and down.
The parting of the sea takes a good 10 minutes to complete.
The other humanoids on the island take notice. Jemrosh's mouth hangs agape in awe. The humanoid by the ruined tower steps gives you a slow golf-clap once the sound dies down, a smirk on his face. The Dark Mother nods approvingly, while the last one that had been mindlessly walking around seems mildly interested, going back to his wanderings.

Odysseus tries to mask his surprise when all these strange things happen, thinking
I guessed it! Nice indeed!
Then he turns back to all the other newcomers like him saying
I reckon we must go and be quick, shall we?
ooc: @squeabs: could you repeat which was the advice on the road/lead to follow, I am getting lost: what should we recover from this temple IN the sea and why?
"Well then," Alzaren says. "I guess that solves that problem. I really hope that water stays parted once we get down there..." He starts walking towards the ladder.
It’s rumored that, in order to escape this place, you must cross the Sea of the Dead, obtain the Black Blade and Hallowed Text, and use them to defeat the Machine.
Since the Sea of the Dead is nearly impassable, the logical way is through the temple of past importance where the Black Blade most likely is.

“HAHAHA, very well done Odysseus!” Boran gives a strong pat on Odysseus’s shoulder. “Now let’s go see who’s responsible for bringing us to this wretched place.” Boran continues through the pass. Makeshift club in hand.

Perzival investigates the stones:
Investigation: 22
Perzival says: "Ah! I have the fly spell. I could fly over. But that would only work for me. Damn"

“IN the sea?” Alzaren asks. “As in, under water?”
"Yes, indeed." Jemrosh replies.

"Oh great, cuase it didn't seem hard enough to get ACROSS the sea. How are we supposed to get UNDER it..."
Any spells you guys got?
Alzaren shakes his head. "Nothing that'll help me get underwater without drowning."

Odysseus shows the levers to dthe others
we may as well try
eventually he uses one of them

Odysseus moves it towards the point of each dolmen
ooc: since we stated that each stone bends in a different way
Good job. +1 inspiration point for you.

Odysseus takes a stone (and he already had a club of some sort) and he goes down the staris as well
