(Hey guys, I'm the one Perzival messaged. Just gotta get a character put together. Do I start with standard starting equipment? And rolled stats or point buy?)

Multiclass is OK. If they're terrible I don't see a problem going back once. Only once though :p.
We'll level up pretty quick too, so keep that in mind. By the end ya'll should be at or really close to 20, so you'll pretty much be god-like anyway.

Boran scratches his head and looks at the orc, “does that happen often?” Pointing to where Wooby once stood. Toward the rest of the group, “perhaps we should figure this thing out so we can leave.
@perzival “no offense, but you look smart. What do you make of these stones?”
A drow half-elf in scale armor, dripping wet and miserable loooking, comes staggering up to the stones. “Where are we?” He asks. “I just woke up on the shore, vomiting what felt like the entire ocean’s worth of seawater. No idea how I got here. Or where here is. Or....really anything but my name...”
To Perzival, Jemrosh says "Friend, to stop the machine you must speak with the Cowled Seekers. A horrid bunch, they are. They speak of escape! Ha!"
He motions to where your previous companion imploded. "Just like that, you see? That is our escape. Only to be reborn again and suffer all over again."
He sighs heavily, more to himself inwardly probably.
"Oh, and look. Here comes another wretched one from the shore."
He points to a Drow wiping bile from his lips as the Dark Mother approaches him.
Back to Perzival, he says "In order to find the Cowled Seekers, you must cross the Sea of the Dead."
He motions to the unnaturally churning sea to the north.
"There, within the sea itself lies a temple of great past importance. The pillars are the key. I just can't figure them out! Perhaps, friend, a second sightly eye on them would give clarity to the problem, yes?"
@VanderLegion: The Dark Mother welcomes you to the island, giving a speech about the Machine and the fate of the realm being tied together. She mentions the Black Blade and the Hallowed Text. She points you to Jemrosh, where Perzival and group are speaking with him.

(Cool, saves me having to ask IC what the machine is :P)
Alzaren looks to the churning water the woman indicates and groans. "Great. Doesn't that just look like so much fun..." He walks over to the others talking to Jemrosh. "So apparently we're supposed to cross that madness," he says, pointing out to the water, "And find some blade at text? Any ideas how to actually get across that mess without drowning?"

Annoying. Goodbye. Anyone know a good replacement? I know someone who could jump in
Replacement is fine. We can wait. Or we can push with the current group. It was made for only two or three anyway.
I’ll let y’all decide if you want one or not.
If there’s someone who wants to jump in Perzival, that’s fine.

Should I send them a link? They were interested.
Yep. That’s fine.

Jemrosh begins to pace. “The stones, they just do not make sense to me.”
Meanwhile, Whoobydoo begins to sort of...implode. A wretched scream pierces the silence.
Jemrosh looks at the affair. “Ah, another death for the Machine. How fitting.” He laughs. Maybe a little too hard because he begins to cough.
“Who next will this realm curse us with? Friends! My condolences on your lose.”
Back to his stones he goes...
The rest of the humanoids on the island seem mildly interested in the happenings. A few glaces is all that’s granted.

Hello and welcome. You can do stats however you’d like. I’m not picky.
Level 10. Any class open.
Equipment...
Basic armor is OK but no weapons or other gear.
You can, if you’d like, pick one trinket from the Player Handbook.
