The Halfling nods, and usher's you all through to the Infirmary. Staff are running around, helping who they can. The Halfling darts and weaves through the crowd, and you have a hard time keeping up. Eventually you reach a free area. Blood covers these bed sheets and rags litter the floor. The Halfling strips the bed and points towards it.
"Put those three on there. If you would all like to wait over there, we should have these up in no time"
A Firbolg slowly walks over wearing a stained white apron, carrying a tray of tools. As you sit and wait for about 10 minutes as the Halfling and Firbolg work on your two companions, the explosions from outside have disappeared entirely. You watch as families rush in to see their loved ones on the tables. The one's who have died on the table or before are taken to a back room with sheets wrapped over them.
Barnum and Wander both wake up - beaten and bruised. (1 HP Please). The Halfling smiles and darts off back outside. The Firbolg waits for a moment to check they aren't suffering any long-term effects.
Jebben, who is standing by Barnum's bed, sees the dwarf's eyes flutter open. He places his hand upon the injured warrior's shoulder. "Well, look now, if it isn't the Heroes of the Harrowing Hallway, freshly awoken from their victory, though it's a bit of a tragic irony (or would that be an ironic tragedy?) that you three weren't conscious to witness the fruits of your sacrifice through to the end! Still, if it weren't for yourself," the gnome glances over his shoulder to the warforged's bed, "Wander, and the other two guards, we might all have been confined to the gurney or the grave. So thank you, all three! I'd have brought a pint to greet this very occasion, except the whole place is still in a bit of a stir--I suspect there were many more threats other than the one we vanquished--and, well, not everyone was so lucky as us."
Wander wakes up and sighs once he tries to remember where and what had happened. As he does he goes stone silent, rather ashamed that he had fallen so easily after all of his training.
Ellayne watches Dorstaer and Wander as a slight of shaking her head along with a relieved smile. Then she walks towards the side of Dorstaer and greets Wander and Barnum. “Welcome back both of you.”

A groan slipped past the dwarven man's beard, and slowly his eyes flickered open, to find Jebben standing there alongside the bed that he had been placed in. Blurry vision slowly managed to regain focus.
"Aye." He said, "Glad to be of service... I think."
He rubbed his head, and tested a few movements of his body, wincing at the pain that emanated from his recovering wounds.
"Glad to have you looking out for things then," He smirked across at Dorstaer's taunt.
"The pint can wait, although I hope the Minister has more than a pint to offer. Thought I was done gettin' attacked walking through corridors! Where's m'hammer?"
Minister Trask walks through the crowded room toward you holding a couple of books under her arm. She smiles sheepishly at you.
"Take a few moments to gather your thoughts and meet me in the hall. I have your papers ready and then you'll be free to go about town until your transport arrives. Thank you for helping out back there. I'll make sure to put in a good word at the Quarry."
She turns and walks out the way you all came in, weaving through the make-shift beds and blood patches on the floor.
At Barnum's request for his weapon, Jebben's mouth forms a thin, silent line. He looks behind him at the rest of the party, blue eyes darting from person to person in an inquiring manner that seems to ask, "Did you bring it?"
The gnome adjusts his hat and returns his attention to Barnum. "We all were asked to leave our weapons outside; the infirmary doesn't allow them. But come, you won't be needing it too soon, because your first priority is to get yourself hale and hardy for our journey out into the heart of the New World, yes?"
Jebben throws another guilty glance back at the group, his eyes darting to the entrance of the infirmary from which everyone arrived. "Quick, someone go get the hammer!"
When Minister Trask walks in, and then back out, the gnome asks Barnum and Wander, "Do you two need help up?"
Vostariasees the others gathering themselves to leave. She is pleased to have gotten a chance to wander among the infirm, being sure to stay out of the way of the healers. She briefly watches a family of halflings reuniting but tears herself away and heads to the exit to gather her pack, eager to finally begin her residency in the new world.
Wander simply shakes his head as he stands and moves away from the others, still wondering on how useless he had been in the last fight. If he couldn't help there what good would he be in a world he was so unfamiliar with.
(Just to check do we get anything for fighting the mimic?)
Dorstaer shakes his head at Jebben’s first inquiring look. He hadn’t even thought about the weapons. At the second look, he sighs, but heads. Ack out to the entrance of the infirmary where they were asked to drop their weapons and inquires whether any of the guards or anyone brought the equipment dropped by the injured adventurers.
"... I don't think I did. The situation was dire. I only focused on moving two of them to the infirmary,"she replies to Jebben with a shake of her head. Then she gives I'm-so-sorry-look to Barnum.
Watching the family reunites in this infirmary, a bittersweet smile appears just for briefly and her gaze shifts away from another family who came to see their beloved who is not active anymore. After a moment of silence, she decides to go to the hall to meet Minister Trask after getting gather her pack. Once she sees Wander moving away from the others, Ellayne stops by before she would walk toward the exit. Her hand places on Wander's shoulder briefly. "Come on. We should go see Minister Trask after gathering our stuff."
Then Ellayne walks to the exit, wondering what would wait for her to see in the life of the New World.

After Wander rises and moves to leave, Jebben grabs Barnum by the shoulder and helps pull the dwarf out of bed, to his feet.
"Come along, Slickfoot, let's go reacquire your beloved hammer--I do believe Dorstaer was just going to check on it--then we can all rendezvous with Minister Trask in the hall, obtain our papers, and maybe we'll have ample time to find an esteemed drinking establishment to discover what brews the New World has to offer while we wait for our transportation away from this noisome place."
You make your way outside, dodging the medical professionals and stretchers being brought through. Outside, the bodies have piled up considerably, although most have already perished. You look across to where your weapons were stored, and they are no longer there. Two guards stand waiting beside it, and seeing you appear from the doorway, they nod and start walking toward Rift-Hall, beckoning you to follow.
More and more guards have flooded into the hallway ahead, lining the walls with spears pointed upwards standing to attention. Some are still splattered with blood whilst others appear young, possibly drafted in to bolster the defences after the recent attack.
As you reach the hall, Minister Trask is waiting with some paperwork. She smiles and brings you to her desk, which is remarkably still intact amongst the carnage around the room. You notice that the Rift is pulsing. Energy is wrapping around the wooden braces and sparking into the ground. The Dwarf looks unsettled and quickly grabs some items from her drawer.
"Hello everyone. Good to see you up and about Barnum and Wander. Apologies again for that wretched event... So, anyway, here are your identification forms. Your transport will be arriving here in the morning. Well, not here, at the caravan park at the city gates. You are to parade at 'Caravan Park F', it's clearly marked and you'll have no trouble finding it. Your weapons have been pre-loaded onto the wagon, and if you'd like to leave anything with me, I can arrange for it to be put on there ahead of your journey. Do you have any questions before I leave you to it? I have many things to do."
When Ellayne finds out her weapon and the others were gone, she starts to feel a little unsettled. With pressing down this negative feeling, she walks into the hallway where the guards lead them as her mismatched eyes gaze the outside briefly, watching the bodies piling up.
As soon as she sees Minister Trask, she wanted to ask where her weapon is, and yet the answer came out rather quicker than she thought. Glad she hears her weapon stored in the wagon.
”What would happen when we arrive at the New World? It could be an unnecessary question, but... Just want to know for good.”

Jebben politely raises a finger and inquires, "Yes, I was wondering: when we were all gathered in the infirmary, you mentioned that you would be forwarding news of our actions here today, as well as that of Wander and Barnum's heroic sacrifice, to 'The Quarry.' That is an organization which I'm not familiar with at all--who is it, exactly?"
When all the other questions seem to have been put to the table, Jebben approaches Trask and motions for her to take a step away from the group with him, turning their backs. He gives her a solemn look. "Very quickly, Ms. Trask, when your staff were kind enough to pre-load our weapons on tomorrow's wagon, did they happen to include Barnum's hammer, which we all neglectfully left at the site of the battle, on account of being wholly flabbergasted and concerned about the health and safety of our friends?"
DM SNViolent:
Was Jebben's pack and accordion also missing from the weapons area? If not, he would have grabbed them.
"Would you happen to have any proper clerics on hand? After the recent attack I do not wish to be left in a state where I can barely keep myself on my feet incase something occurs again. " Wander says, his faith in the guards and minister rather lacking after the ordeal with the mimic, saying no more on the fact other then a few hits he had done next to nothing in the fight.
You have your pack with you, that was left there :)
Minister Trask raises her hands in front of her a little. "All will become clear soon, don't worry. The Quarry is just that, a Quarry... the Dwarves need some extra help over there. Some of the workers are becoming... rowdy. I have limited details as your assignment came in just before the attack, best to wait and see when you get there."
She turns to Ellayne. "My dear, this IS the New World! I mean... you have only seen a little part of it, but it's an amazing place. As for what you will be doing at the Quarry, I do not know. I assume you will be peacekeeping given your martial talents."
She hands Wander a piece of parchment. "There is a list of public houses in the city here. You will have the night to rest up and recuperate. Unfortunately most of our healers are dealing with the gravely injured. There are a few healer's houses in town, however, they can be quite expensive."
