OOC: They are all skeletons. Sorry for the confusion. Another party I'm DMing is engaging zombies.
WIS save: 8
As Herr Doktor Professor Eldritch Jaeger finishes his verse, the (yellow) skeleton comes apart, falling to the floor as a pile of bones and bits of rusty mail.
Sweat runs into Gruxx's eye, stinging, and causing him to misjudge his swing. The lone skeleton is able to deflect the glaive and then follows up with its own attack against the human barbarian. (shortsword attack: 6, damage: 7 piercing damage) Luckily, Gruxx is able to dodge the attack.
Glynquinal will move from Q7 to R7 to take up a position next to the remaining skeleton. Talon in hand Glynquinal will try to remove the skull from the body. Both hands firmly on the hilt, Glynquinal strikes.
Glynquinal sidesteps closer to the final skeleton and swings his mighty sword, but the elusive undead creature is able to avoid getting hit by ducking.
Ian lets loose his bolt and the arrow dispatches the skeleton. (I admit, I have no idea how arrows and bolts could kill a skeleton, but you can use your imagination, I guess!) For good measure, Rock brings his great axe down on the pile of bones, causing the skull to explode in a shower of bone fragments. The dragonborn chants, "Bad bones bad bones, what ya gonna do when the Rock comes for you?"
OOC: OK, you're all in the crypt, the three skeletons are piles of bone and bits of mail, the coffins have been looted, and there's a door you haven't yet been able to approach. And you each earn another 30 XP. Four of you will be at level 3 once you take a long rest. Cool! You can go ahead and start thinking about what you'd like to do, but don't change anything until you take a long rest. Rock, you've got 125 XP to go before you reach level 3, but that won't take you very long (in game).
Ian draws his rapier, puts his ear to the door, to see if he can hear anything on the other side. If he cannot hear anything, he will attempt to open the door. If he does hear something, he will attempt to stealthily open the door to gain surprise on whatever might be in there.

Ian puts his ear to the door and listens. He can hear scuffing noises, like boots sliding on the stone floor. Then, there's a sound like sniffling. He definitely hears people. He very stealthily opens the door inward. As he does so, he can see there is another Redbrand immediately to his right. He continues to open the door, then there's a voice to his left (on the other side of the opening door). "Hey!" The guard on Ian's right looks over at the word and sees Ian.

Round 1: Ian, HDP, Glyn, Orange, Rock, Black, Gruxx
Ian lunges at the foe in front of him (orange), stabbing the redbrand with the rapier. He then (using Cunning Action - no AoO) disengages, and moves around to U6 to make room for his allies (and offer them flanking).
Ian's rapier pierces through the armor of the (orange) Redbrand. As the man is distracted, Ian ducks further into the room, swinging around the lower Redbrand, ready for another attack.

Glynquinal grinning at the good Herr Doktor's words, charges into the room occupying U5. Turning to face the Redbrand at T6, he strikes with Talon, using two hands.
Calling out to his foe, Glynquinal asks, "Do you really think you can take us when all of your friends lay dead on the floor?"
Glynquinal will then Disengage, and using the rest of his movement, take up a defensive position at T3 putting himself between the other Redbrand and what appears to be captives.

Gruxx clenches his wounds, grits his teeth, and stands up.
”I’m hurt but good to keep goin’. Rock would you mind leading as I need to pick up the rear till I catch my breath.”
Ian falls in line in front of Gruxx, ready to go through the next door.
OOC - would love to level up, but in fiction it makes no sense to try and rest with a guard in the middle of enemy territory.
Glynquinal moves to stand next to Ian, "Let's get this party started then."
"Ian can you open the door?"
Ian draws his rapier, puts his ear to the door, to see if he can hear anything on the other side. If he cannot hear anything, he will attempt to open the door. If he does hear something, he will attempt to stealthily open the door to gain surprise on whatever might be in there.

OOC, sorry, not flanking, just advantage for Glyn's sneak attack.
Ian's rapier pierces through the armor of the (orange) Redbrand. As the man is distracted, Ian ducks further into the room, swinging around the lower Redbrand, ready for another attack.
Herr Doktor, you're up!
The Herr Doktor Professor clambers up one of the coffins (to S6) and casts Vicious Mockery at the Redbrand (black) he can see from there.
"Come out and play,
O great Redbrands.
Nothing but scrawny elves here,
For you to slay."
Damage: 1.
The Herr Doktor Professor infuses a taunting tone to his words, in the hopes of drawing the Redbrands out to the party.
Deception check: 6.
