Turning to Halia, Glynquinal asks, "Halia, I'm looking for a small diamond, with a worth of 50 GP for an item I'dlike to craft. Do you know of anyone that has a smalldiamond like that doe sale?"

"No diamonds here," Halia says to Rock, indicating the eyepatch. "These are all semiprecious stones, but still of good quality."

She turns to Glynquinal. "I just so happen to have a few diamonds in the back. Excuse me." She walks through a door and is gone for almost a minute before returning with a pouch. She walks to a counter and rolls out a piece of cloth, upon which she dumps three glittering rocks. They are not nearly as pretty as the gems in Rock's eyepatch. She turns to allow Glynquinal to view the stones, smiling, but stays very close.
Glyquinal doesn't know anything about gems, so he asks about the price, a little leery that these dull rocks might not actually be diamonds.
"None of these stones have been cut, polished or appraised, so they are very likely worth much more than what I will ask for them if you can get them to a gem cutter. This one," she says, nudging the smallest stone, "is 20 gold." This one, she says, nudging the medium stone, "is 40 gold." She picks up and holds the last in her palm. It is the largest, but still only the size of a marble. "And this is 60 gold."
Glynquinal taking a chance on Halia being honest with him, reluctantly reaches into his coin pouch and withdraws 12 GP, 6 EP, and 50 SP to cover the cost indicating the smallest gem she offered him.
TO Halia, Glynquinal asks, " Do you have anyone in mind that could do the cutting and polishing?
Ian is also waiting around for the others to conclude their business. While he is waiting, he is looking out the window, and notices Herr Doktor Professor walking down the street, Ian goes out to meet him.
Ian to HDP Doctor, where have you been, we have been looking for you.
HDP I was in fact looking for you gentlemen. We must have been like two ships passing in the night. Ah, well, we are together at last.
Ian and HDP will rejoin the group in the Mining exchange, waiting for the business to finish.
Halia accepts the coin from Glynquinal and places the small stone in a little cloth pouch and hands it over to the rogue. "None very near, I'm afraid," she answers him. "Neverwinter would be the closest." She moves behind a counter and begins doing something out of sight. "My favorite jeweler there is Dupoit. His shop is simply called Sparkle. Tell him I sent you," she says with a smirk. She walks over to Rock and hands him Glynquinal's payment and another 30 gold coins. She accepts the eye patch and smiles at the dragonborn. "Nice doing business with both of you."
Silder sighs. "Can we get going?" he asks impatiently.
Rock, you may add 50 gp to your equipment if you haven't already done so. Glynquinal, you are the proud owner of an uncut and unpolished diamond worth 20 gp.
Glynquinal replies, "That sounds like a good idea. Let's go." Leading the group out of the Miners exchange, he turns toward the road leading to the Redbrands hideout.

The party sets out for the cave entrance to the Redbrands' hideout under the ruins of the manor up on the hill. They enter and, despite a thorough search, find no living thing. The bodies they left are still there, including the nothic, which Sildar finds both interesting and repulsive.
In the workshop, Sildar takes the time to look about carefully. He examines the notes, trying to determine whether he recognizes the handwriting, but he admits that he has seen so little of Iarno's that he has no idea if it is the same. He asks, "Does anyone know Dwarvish?" When the party looks at each other, but no one speaks up, he drops the book he's holding. "Probably nothing," he says, but doesn't elaborate. He walks next door to the room the party says is probably the wizard's quarters. Once again, he looks around the room, but is only rewarded with impatience. "Another dead end," the old soldier comments.
Sildar suggests they had back to town, and they do so be exiting up the stairs and out through the ruin.

At the top of the stairs, as the group is returning, Gruxx halts their march. Looking about, he points out boot prints in the dirt and sand heading east away from the stairs and out of town. He's not sure how fresh they are, but they don't look very old.
Glynquinal intrigued by the mention of Dwarvish, picks up the book Sildar dropped and quickly stuffs it in his pack before they depart. Hoping to get it translated by Halia later with the possibility it might contain something about Gundren.
Gruxx, you're pretty sure the freshest tracks were made within the last day. Luckily, it hasn't rained, and there hasn't been much wind, so you're pretty sure you could follow the trail.
The party heads west, marching down the eastern side of the hill upon which the ruins of the manor house sit. Into the woods you trudge. After about 30 minutes, Sildar sighs. "Friends," he says, "I'm going to head back to Phandalin. I still have a lot to do there. Please report back what you find." He then turns and heads back west.
You travel another hour through the woods. Gruxx is pretty sure he's still on the trail. Do you continue?

Ian would like to roll insight against Sildar. It seems odd that he would come out and then leave. Ian wants to check his motive, if he is really going back to town, or if there is something else going on that Sildar is trying to hide. Unable to parse dice roll.
Ian, Sildar appears to be more concerned with the town than with the trail. It might have to do with the fact that he's still a little bit in denial that Iarno is involved in the Redbrands. Also, he seems to feel fairly confident in your party.

OOC having issue with dice roller. It doesnt like my formula. Trying to roll 1d20+4, and if it is less than 8, it should override with an 8.
Insight: 23 if the number is 7 or less, the result is actually an 8 (an 8 is the lowest I can roll on insight because of the Inquisitive archetype)
