As the party discusses the fight, the term "gnoll" is spoken, and everyone agrees that these are gnolls, a race of humanoids with many canine qualities. It looks like they must have happened upon the cave, now empty, and decided to claim it. Luckily, the crates and barrels along the wall with the blue lion stamp appear to be in the same condition they were when you left them. Searching the bodies, you find each is wearing, worn, dirty hide armor, and was armed with both a longbow and a spear. The weapons aren't in the best of shape, but are usable. You find 47 arrows between the five of them. You also find five interesting items, one on each gnoll. One creature is wearing a pair of goggles, but was wearing them on its head like a hat instead of as eye wear. The second had a diamond in their pocket. The third was carrying (but not using) a shield with the image of an eye emblazoned on it. The fourth is wearing two identical rings on one finger. And the fifth has a wand tucked in its belt.
Glynquinal seeing what items were discovered feels his pulse quicken at the site of the diamond. To the party, "I don't know what the diamond might be worth, but perhaps it's quality enough to be used for a spell focus. I have a smaller diamond I'd be willing to give the party in trade for it"

Gruxx smiles.
"Wow... What good luck for us and bad luck for these folks. I wonder how long they had been traveling together to gather such interesting items. Let's take a look at these rings here, you can have the diamond."
Gruxx will remove the two rings from the gnoll. Gruxx will run his fingers along the outside of them feeling if there are runes or an inscription to indicate they are magical.
Ian asks the group: Does anyone know how to tell what these are?
Ian is brave, or perhaps foolhardy, and would like to sample everything. He puts the goggles over his eyes to see if anything happens, he picks up the shield to see if its a good fit for him, he lets Glyn lay claim to the diamond. He tries the rings on his fingers to see if they fit, and picks up the wands....and contemplates waving them around...
HDP says "Give me those" and he takes the wands for safe keeping, but he does not know how to Identify the items, he just knows that Ian will probably hurt himself.
Glynquinal knowing wands can do quite a bit of damage dives out of the way as Ian waves them around, "Hey put that thing away, you have no idea what kind it might be!"
Glynquinal relaxes after HDP takes possession of the wands.
To the barbarians, "Are either of you two good with using a shield?"

Glynquial, the diamond is a little smaller than the diamond you already have, but this diamond is cut and shaped like something you've seen used in expensive jewelry, unlike the diamond you have (and the other two Halia had for sale), which really just look like sparkly rocks.
Rock, you look closely at the goggles. They're made mainly of leather. The lenses are dark — almost completely opaque. There are a few runes stamped into the leather, but you don't know what they mean. Glynquinal takes them from you before you can try them on and puts them over his own head.
Glynquinal, as you look through the goggles ... you don't notice anything different. Everything looks the same as it does when you're not wearing them.
Rock and Glyn, just touching the goggles tells you there's something magical about them.
Gruxx, the outside of the rings feel smooth to you, but there is something about the rings that make you suspect that they are magical.
Ian, as you test out the shield, it is unwieldy in your hand, but you could swear that when you put it back down, the light in the cave dimmed a little. When you take the rings from Gruxx and slide them on your own fingers, you find that they are much larger than your own fingers.
OOC: Rock and Gruxx can use a shield. However, that means that one hand is occupied when using it (as Gruxx indicated). That would mean only one weapon for Rock, or Gruxx would not be able to use his glaive, because it is a two-handed weapon. Also, just to clarify, there is only one wand.
INT check for HDP: 10 — OK, he's no help there. Carry on. Let's check Rock: 9. OK, I can do something with that ...
When Glynquinal mentions that they don't know what the wands do, Rock remembers a Redknife saying something about that before he left for Neverwinter. He doesn't remember exactly what, but it was something about studying magical items if there isn't someone around who can use magic to identify them.
Glynquinal looking over what they've discovered is pleased. With the encounter with the Gnolls ended, and the shipment recovered things seem to be looking up.
To the party, "Well then, perhaps we should get these crates loaded and get them out of here back to the owners before someone else comes looking for them."
Glyn let me see the goggles when we get outside, they may let them that can't see in the dark see better, we had night goggles in then service I was in.
HDP will ritually cast unseen servant to carry anything that in can lift. He pretends that this takes so much concentration that he cant actually carry anything himself.
OOC: Glynquinal is having trouble discovering he's in a cavern, let alone anything of interest...oh my.

Rock tells Glyn that he has the training for a shield
“All Rocks then. I prefer using two hands.” says Gruxx

Ian says "Agreed. Lets get loaded, return this stuff, get paid, then we can help Glyn with his...quest, so to speak"
With his short swords tucked away Glynquinal hefts one of the crates up and settles it into a position to carry getting ready to move out.
Rock will tote things.
Glyn let me see the goggles when we get outside, they may let them that can't see in the dark see better, we had night goggles in then service I was in.
Glynquinal to Rock, "All right Rock. That would be most useful if that is what they turn out to be."
Ian will also carry something.
HDP will ritually cast unseen servant to carry anything that in can lift. He pretends that this takes so much concentration that he cant actually carry anything himself.
Through the magic of D&D, all of the crates and barrels are lifted and carted back to the wagon without incident.
If there's anything you'd like to do or say between then and now, go ahead.
