The party travels south the whole day through the woods. They reach the foothills of the Sword Mountains, but do not discover any cave or trails before they need to camp for the night.
Next day!
Gruxx, five survival rolls at advantage once again, please.
As they reach the foothills of the Sword Mountains, Glynquinal offers to take the first watch, "I'll keep the first watch with you Gruxx if you are interested. I know you might be tired, but you can sleep after hopefully."
"Fresh tracks... It's not a route they take often.. Maybe out scouting."
Gruxx rises.
"Since it's not a trail they take often we can't set up an ambush. We must choose a path. It will either lead us to them out hunting or to there camp. Either way we win."
Gruxx raises his glaive.
"Be on your guard. We are close. We are going East."
The party, continuing to be led by Thraxx, follows the trail east. They are within the Sword Mountains and surrounded by tall peaks. The terrain is rocky and wild. Following the trail through a vale, Thraxx slows to a stop.
Roll another survival check with advantage, tracker-man.
The party begins to wonder if Gruxx has lost the trail, when his face lights up, and he points a little ways to his right. "There it is," he says more to himself than the others. The party picks up again, following the trail into what appears to be some kind of narrow split in the rock of the mountain. After a short ways, it opens up a little wider again, but is still bordered on both sides by fairly vertical cliffsides. If they hadn't been following the trail, it's doubtful they would have found this. After rounding another large stone, the party sees it: a cave opening.
Quietly, Glynquinal closes with his friend, "You did well to find this place. It was well hidden. Time for someone sneakier to take a look around and see what might be found waiting for us."
Glynquinal draws a short sword, and a dagger, then moves forward as quietly as possible listening for the sounds of any waiting guards.
Glynquinal moves quietly to the mouth of the cave. Peering inside, he sees a 10-foot-wide tunnel heading in. As there is no light source, he can see about 80 feet in before it goes completely dark. The tunnel continues past the point of his darkvision.
Glynquinal returns to where Gruxx is waiting. Drawing a a ball bearing from one bag, and a piece of phosphorescent moss from his pouch he casts light on it. It glows with a cool green light. He then hands it to Gruxx, and returns the moss to his pouch.
To Gruxx, "I can see a good wide path leading in to the tunnel. Perhaps 10 feet wide. It goes on for quite a long way until even my elven eyes can see no more. That ball bearing will give you some light to see by, but only a few feet away from it. You will be able to see well for about 20 feet, but after about 40 feet. it will be dark again. It won't last for a long time. We could go further to see what might be discovered. What do you want to do?"
"We go in and quickly. There is no telling when those whose trail we followed will return. Would you lead the way as your eyes see better than my light?"
Glynquinal nods, "I will. Close your hand around that ball bearing, until you can't see. Then throw it forward a little ahead of you. It will help."
With that, Glynquinal moves forward as quietly as he can into the mouth of the cave. He will advance until he is far enough in he's sure Gruxx will have to throw the ball bearing with Light cast on it, Talon at the ready.
Glynquinal moves quietly into the cave mouth, the others following closely behind. At about 40 feet in, he stops and indicates that Gruxx should toss the ball bearing. The human does so, and the small glowing ball bounces once about 20 feet ahead of Glyn, then 30 feet, then 35 feet, then begins rolling. It hits a wall and ricochets off, finally stopping about 50 feet away. The party can see the small light 50 feet away, revealing that the cave continues on at least that far.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Glynquinal moves forward quietly looking for any hazards along the way,. He motions for the others to follow him with some distance so if thee is a trap it doesn't catch more than one.
Glynquinal stealths forward to the ball bearing and beyond. Not too far beyond, the tunnel opens up into a large cavern supported by a natural pillar of rock and containing three stalagmites. In the western part of the cave, behind the column of rock, are three bedrolls and a heap of items. Glynquinal can just make out that the northeastern section of the cavern appears to have collapsed.
Glynquinal turns and motions for the others to move up. Using hand signals,e i dicates whefe three sleeping spaces are. Then,he waits for the rest of the party to gather.

Mid morning the next day, Gruxx points out to the party a trail they've happened upon. It's not very well trod, but the tracks are fairly fresh.
The trail goes west and east.
Glynquinal turns to Gruxx, "As the official tracker, what do you think of the tracks?"
Gruxx kneels down and pats the tracks.
"Fresh tracks... It's not a route they take often.. Maybe out scouting."
Gruxx rises.

"Be on your guard. We are close. We are going East."
Glynquinal will follow in trace of Gruxx about 15 feet behind him as they head east.
