Being tall for one of Elf kind, Glynquinal will boost Ian up to make the first part of the climb easier. If it looks like there is space to go farther up once Ian gets a look, Glynquinal will make an attempt to climb up as well to poke around.
Gruxx will stow his glaive. He will remove his tinderbox and use it to light his Torch. He would then like to have a Torch in one hand and a javelin in the other.
The Herr Doktor Professor will gather more body parts from the butchered goblin, then throw them into the cave to placate the wolves while the elves explore the chimney.
Glynquinal agrees about the light, "Gruxx you can use my hooded lantern instead of that open light? It's tied on my pack by the entrance."
Seeing Ian having some difficulty making the climb, Glynquinal offers to take a shot at it. Reaching out to look for a ledge, or crevice to grab onto he tries to climb up the natural chimney wedging his feet and hands into the sides as best he can. If he can climb up enough, he will try to offer support to Ian.
Acrobatics 13
If he can make the climb all the way up he will take a look to see where all the refuse had been dropped from.
Gruxx will nod at Glynquinal and then will douse the torch in the water and walk back to the light at the entrance. He will then get the hooded lantern from Glynquinal's pack and return to the room. As Gruxx just has one hand while holding the light source he will elect to stand at the bottom of the chimney as a lookout.
OOC: Before I get to the summary of what's going on, let me note that splitting the party in a dungeon is generally never a good idea. Now, the summary/recap:
Glynquinal is interested in the chimney and asks HDP if he found "anything on the goblins" before he fed them to the wolves. He then scrutinizes the climb and determines that it doesn't look easy, but doesn't look difficult, either.
Ian asks HDP (which he would have to do kind of loudly since they're about 20 feet apart and the wolves aren't being that quiet) to throw a little more goblin meat to the animals, then goes to the natural chimney, and attempts to climb up and see what it leads to. He rolls a 4 (it is a strength check).
Glynquinal offers to allow Ian to climb on top of him first. Since Glyn is helping, Ian can climb up Glyn with his strength check of 4. So, he is 6 feet (rounded down to 5 feet) off the ground. The top of the chute is still a ways up. (The advantage roll doesn't really work; Glynquinal doesn't have a way to help Ian climb from below him except to give him a boost, which has been done. Well, I take that back. It could be that Glynquinal is watching and advising him where to place his hands and feet. At any rate, the second roll is a 3 — still strength — so Ian is still only 5 feet from the floor, standing on Glyn.)
Gruxx lights a torch, allowing him to see what the others have seen: the main tunnel continues north, there is a wolf's kennel to the east right away and another tunnel leading to the west a little bit north.
HDP throws more wolf bits at the wolves and then moves back to the mouth of the cave to watch for danger. The wolfs go to town on the new food.
Glynquinal observes with keep perception the chimney, but notices nothing of interest.
Glynquinal hollars at Gruxx that he should put out his torch and light the lantern in the pack by the cave entrance. Wait, what? When did Glyn put his pack down? You can't just make this stuff up, people, to suit your actions. Glyn didn't write that he put his pack down, so Glyn didn't put his pack down. He still has all of his belongings in the pack ... on his back ... in the chimney ... 40 feet away from Gruxx ... on the other side of the wolves. Yes, we do take some creative licensing where the pack is concerned (could you imagine if we had to truly account for where the pack was in relation to sitting down in a tavern or fitting through a tight spot), but something as important as whether you're wearing it or not needs to be explicitly said.
Glynquinal rolled a decent roll for stength, but Ian is in the way (there's not room for both of them to climb side-by-side), so he can't get off the ground. If you'd like, though, we can save that roll for when you can climb.
And we can't use Gruxx's last post (#393) because, as I said, Glynquinal still has his lantern on the pack on his back.
OOC Fair enough, I suppose Glynquinal could have stopped working with Ian long enough to move to a position to throw his pack to Gruxx. It wouldn't take that long to do that. Not really looking to split the party, just see if there is anything above use that may give an idea of how many we might be dealing with. The concept of operations with Ian above him was for Glynquinal to attempt to start working his way up using what handholds he might find basically creating a 'step' for Ian to use as he needs since strength is not his strong suit.
Glynquinal realizing his hooded lantern is still in his pack, pauses in the combined efforts for a moment helping Ian, "Hang on a moment, I need to throw my pack to Gruxx so he can use the hooded lantern."
Moving out of the natural chimney, Glynquinal moves close to the wolves, remaining out of reach and attempts to throw his pack over their heads to Gruxx.

Having thrown his pack to Gruxx, Glynquinal will go back to the natural chimney to assist Ian.
Glynquinal says to Ian, "Do you want me to go up first? I'm not bad at climbing."
Let's heed DDP's advice about not splitting up the party ...
The Herr Doktor Professor suddenly recalls all the times in myths and stories when the heroes get in trouble after splitting the party. (Perhaps he caught a whisper of the DM's ominous words on the winds of the universe.)
He realizes that gaps are appearing in the party formation, but is wary of being trapped in a small cave with three wolves (especially if the chimney turns out to be a dead end).
He throws the rest of the dead goblin to the wolves (silently promising himself that the next cantrip he will learn is Prestidigitation, to magically clean the blood from his hands).
He then whispers to Gruxx: "Once you light the lantern, friend Gruxx, perhaps you can take up my position at the mouth of the main cave. You can put the lantern down there and shutter it, since there will still be light to see with. You can then use both hands to wield your great weapon if danger appears."
If Gruxx agrees with this plan, the Herr Doktor Professor will stand watch at the mouth of the wolf cave. If danger appears from the north, he and Gruxx can hold it off to keep the elves from getting cut off from the exit.
Gruxx says to Herr Doktor Professor, "Works for me."
Gruxx will retrieve Glynquinal's pack in entirety and walk to the mouth of the cave as Herr Doktor Professor stated. Gruxx will extinguish the Torch and light the hooded latern exactly as requested. He will then wield his glaive in a defensive posture scanning for danger.
(Taking a little bit of creative license.) Noticing the flicking light of Gruxx's torch and feeling the frustration of Ian's failed attempt to climb the vertical surfaces of the natural chimney, Glynquinal urges Ian to climb down and tells him he's going to toss the barbarian his pack so Gruxx can use his lantern instead of a torch. He crosses and deftly tosses his pack into the main cave tunnel. Gruxx picks it up and, at Herr Doktor's urging, takes up a guard position at the mouth of the cave. Herr Doktor then throws the remaining goblin pieces to the wolves.
OOC: HDP, if you're planning to cross behind the wolves, you need to roll either animal handling or stealth. I probably shouldn't tell you that, but I'm feeling helpful.
Glynquinal returns to the chute and is able to climb halfway up.
OOC2: Glyn, roll another athletics check, please. Ian and/or HDP, if you're going to follow, go ahead and roll two athletics checks ... just in case. And any other rolls you think you might should roll. :)
Ian will attempt to climb, in a very acrobatic way (please DM??)
8 climbing with acrobatics. With strength, the mod would be -1 ( not a very strong rogue)

Glynquinal will use the Help action to assist Ian in his efforts having some decent strength.
The Herr Doktor Professor will gather more body parts from the butchered goblin, then throw them into the cave to placate the wolves while the elves explore the chimney.
He will then move to M12 to keep watch for dangers possibly coming from both within the cave and without.
Perception check: 6.
Advantage roll on climbing (thanks Glenquenal) 16
And whisper down to Glenquenal after seeing shadows from new light Glenquenal, that light may give us away. Can we put it out?
as he goes, he will see if anything is worth taking note of in the chimney
Perception, I think...not investigation, but please feel free to correct 21
