As you get set to head on the old unused path Avan speaks to the group and tells you that while he would love to be part of this adventure with you his next sight is to head south on the path that he feels he needs to take. He wishes you all good hunting and sets down the path that is before him yet different from the groups He bids you all farewell as he moves further down the well used path.
Out of Character I spoke to him and wishes to sit this one out until he gets more settled in and less busy
"Good luck friend of the woods, may Meiliki's gaze follow you always."

Without Avan, Ghanima acknowledges that Bastion is no longer co-leader of the group but the metal "man-in-charge". Without fear she checks her supplies and pushes ahead watching the unused path for signs of 'surprises".
You follow the much unused path for a couple days. The hot sun heats up any metal armor and shields plus anything else metallic. About half way through the third day the track becomes a stone road that was well made to stand up to the tests of time. A few hundred yards ahead you see a bridge that has built over the sands there is a sign at the beginning of the bridge.
More comfortable in the desert than other terrain, Kixarn sits tall upon his horse as they travel. Possibly also due to the lack of unknown strangers, as well, his demeanor is less guarded. As they reach the bridge, he peers at the sign from his place in the middle of the troupe. "What does the crossing of sand do to help travels? Sand river under below?"

“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
"Danger in sands! Ah, I got why the bridge now! So nesting creatures hiding down below make no bridge a hazard. We cross now?" Kixarn asks, waving his wand of fireballs. "We could be unvisible to cross, if you all wish. Just short time not seen. "

"Unfortunately I do not know a spell to refresh this old wood and make it new, safer, and even if I did I think several castings would be needed to make it safer to travel upon. I think bridges like this should require an extra precaution, slow and steady."
Kixarn casts a protective spell on himself (mage armour)and he and his familiar shimmer in the heat. He then approaches the start of the bridge and says "Ready to be going? Looks solid but I'm no stoneworkerer."

Bastion looks around, then decides to test the metaphorical waters. Picking up a decent sized stone, he hurls it towards the sand near the middle of the bridge and watches what happens.
If there's no apparent response, he'll shrug and look to the others. "I'm going to suggest that we stick close together, no point in stringing out and letting something pick us off."
The stone arch through the air and then lands in the sands off to the side of the bridge. There is a small plop sound when it reaches you and you can see some ripples in the sand as the stone slowly sinks under the surface of the sand
Taking his place in the war wagon, Kixarn eyes the sands warily, wand and staff in hands.

As you start across the bridge the wagon driver puts the wagon right in the middle not trusting the sides of the bridge knowing that anything could be lurking out there under the sand
OOC Who will be in the wagon and who will be on horses. Will need to know who is out front and who is behind.

Bastion waves goodbye to Avan, then flicks Arion's reigns, nudging the warhorse forward towards the undead city.

"Sand River?"
The sign is written in three languages Common, Elvish and Dwarven It says, "Beware of the dangers that lurk in the sands as you cross this bridge."
"Danger in sands! Ah, I got why the bridge now! So nesting creatures hiding down below make no bridge a hazard. We cross now?" Kixarn asks, waving his wand of fireballs. "We could be unvisible to cross, if you all wish. Just short time not seen. "

Just to clarify since I did not put the detail in is the bridge is made of stone and looks to be draweven built

"You heard him buttercup," Ghanima says while nudging her horse forward but doesn't take lead expecting Myth or Ari to use their Ranger Skills.

"Oh, that is not good. A quick sand river."
