Respar rolls his eyes at KIven's remark about serving, and his expression reveals his feelings to be similar to Jesla. But he says, "I'll see what I can see. As tired and wounded as I am, swimming, even if we get to the water safely, might be more than I can handle right now. Maybe with that fancy grapple we can get OVER the gatehouse and away quietly." He pauses, then says, "Maybe we should go clear the small tower. If that's where watchers are alert, it might help us get out. I'll go scout it." After all, he is dressed as a guard currently. He is limping from the wound in his leg, but he does his best to walk casually in that direction.
While the two rogues run off and do their initial recon, Eya walks with Grumblejack to the kitchen, "So you say you are good at sneak, huh Grumblejack? When was the last time you sneaked? Show me how you sneak because we might have to try and sneak soon."
Eya searches the kitchen for dog treats or food to potentially use as a distraction. Then, she goes back to where Jesla is to wait for the others.
I am super annoyed at the lack of an Investigation skill in PF even though that's exactly what this is.

Heading to the right, Kiven spots a small garden at the base of the large Tower. The plants there look medicinal in nature.
Peeking around the corner, he can see an imposing Gatehouse with a massive and currently closed portcullis. Once again, lights at the top of the structure suggest that someone is on duty up there.
Regrouping with the Rogue, the pair head to the left. Looking around the corner of the main building, they can see a wooden structure. It looks like a stable. Moving on to the Tower, the pair cannot see any signs of life. But they can hear faint snoring noises coming from above. The door at the base of the Tower does not appear to be locked
Inside, upon request, the ogre hunches over and proceeds to walk a little more quietly than before 18
Jesla peers out the gap into the darkness beyond. " Eya is it? You don't think they will try to leave us do you? That elven fop seems like the type that would bolt at the first sign of trouble. I could see him just sneaking off and leaving us here. It would be a mistake on his part..."
Eya is impressed by Grumblejack's natural stealthy instincts. He makes little noise for a creature so large, stays low, and tries to stick to darker, shadowy areas. She looks to him approvingly with a wicked grin, "Well done, my son. Just keep sneaking just like that. We will be moving soon."
Then, Eya replies to Jesla, "No, I don't think he will. He can be more loyal than you would expect, as long as you give him reason to be of course. He just has a bit of an attitude problem. I wager he probably didn't have a ton of friends growing up. Not that I really did either, so perhaps that's not the best excuse."

Feeling confident his appearance as a guard should slow the reaction of one of the real guards, Respar walks into the tower softly, looking around. If there was only one guard, asleep at his post, Respar would consider slitting his throat. The one argument against such an act is that they then would need to make their decision about escaping immediately. The dead man could be found at any time. He would even look for a place to hide a body...
Respar opens the door quietly and finds a simple space with a couple of barrels tucked into a corner and stairs leading up.
Moving up, the rogue finds a single sentry, heavily bundled against the chilly night air, and sleeping in a seat atop the tower. To the east and south, Respar can see the ocean's waters moving under the moonlight. Below him is inky blackness, but he can hear waves crashing against the rocky cliffs he knows is there.
Following Respar up, Kiven sees that the rogue should have it all under control since there is indeed only one guard and he's sleeping. The elf looks at Respar and runs a finger across his throat and then descends the tower once again.
He goes back to the door to the main building to find Eya, Jesla, and Grumblejack, signaling for them to join him outside and pointing at the tower, the direction of the stables, etc. "This side is clear. We can count on dear Tyris to be quite aloof. Horses could easily spook and give us away, so this way is likely best." The Prince leads the group to the right and points around the corner at the gatehouse. He looks back for Respar and signals the rogue to join them when he's done with his business in the tower.
Kiven looks at the gatehouse from the shadows trying to discern how many windows there are and how large they might be, what the roof of the tower is like, whether or not the walls are thick enough for them to traverse, whether or not there is a dark corner against the gate house they could hide in while climbing with the grappling hook, where there are doors, etc.

OOC Leaving the throat cutting up to Respar, but trying to move it along otherwise. Just realized this place is a true island, had missed that in chat a month ago, so suddenly not loving any options here... :(
After Aloro comes back and relays the info, Eya says to Grumblejack, "Keep sneaking just like that. We are going now." Eya nods to Jesla then follows Aloro. She signals Grumblejack to come as well.

Jesla grins at Eya ." I think that you are right about him. You seem very perceptive. I'll take note of that ." She watches as the others ease out . The barbarian will wait until she is the only one left and then sneak along with the others.
Respar easily manages to deepen the guard's sleep and dump the unconscious man over the side of the tower. After rifling through the man's belongings of course. Aside from a flute and a handful of coin, he didn't have much.
Eya takes a closer look at the garden and quickly realizes this one isn't full of vegetables. She recognizes plants used in a variety of alchemical concoctions, including a bush with small black berries that she recognizes as Belladonna, almost certainly the source of the poison used to keep Grumblejack in line.
Kiven observes the gatehouse. It is a fairly imposing structure, nearly as tall as the main keep. Arrow slits adorn the second floor, but it looks like the sentries are on the roof. He can see three doors promising entry into the gatehouse, two doors on the ground level, and another atop the wall. The thick portcullis shutting the group off from the bridge beyond is, predictably enough, closed. Presumably the mechanism to open it is inside the gatehouse somewhere.

During this sequence outside, Eya whispers to Kiven, "That large one is the Warden's tower for sure. You know he will come after you after you leave from here, right? He has a powerful motive and knows everything about you too. You could end him now, ensuring your safety. And more importantly, forever ensuring that only you can rise in your family's name."

If the coast is clear, Eya will attempt to grab several bundles of Belladonna poison berries along with whatever other good herbs are around to potentially make an antidote from. She keeps low, pretending to be kitchen staff. She will place them in her sack.
Respar hurries to catch up to the group, still favoring his wounded leg, finding them gathered near a corner, looking at the large tower, and the gatehouse. He can see the that Kiven is trying to decide if they should attempt to remove his brother permanently at this time, or wait for another day and simply try to escape. He surveys the two parts of the prison a moment then says, "There is that door on top of the wall. If we, um, clear that tall tower, I wager Kiven could easily pass as his brother in the dark and lead a few of us guards right inside, from the tower to that door. It would probably give us a better shot at surprising them. Because I think we are going to have to get rid of the sentries on top regardless. Does anyone have another plan?"
Kiven looks as if he's about to get very angry but holds his tongue, looks up at the tall tower, and swallows hard. "Fine, let's go see what we can find, but I will deal with the warden."
At that Kiven moves for the door of the largest tower, doing all he can to watch for magical wards, or of course non-magical deterrence.
OOC Not sure if Detect Magic will suffice, or if Arcana checks will be needed as we proceed into the wizard's tower.
"That sounds fine to me Respar. We have no choice but to take those out upstairs. Hopefully we can do this quietly . Regardless, I am not going back . I'll be killed if captured. They won't make the same mistake again. I'll die a free Ghost Wolf, not a prisoner. One day we all wake from the dream. If it's today then so be it. I'll go with a pile of enemies around me ." She clinches her fist as anger begins to course through her .
The door at the base of the tower proves to be unlocked. It opens easily and quietly enough to reveal a simple meeting room.
A platter is on a table at the center of the room. Dishes on it still have some traces of an evening meal. A bottle of Elven wine sits open nearby, almost empty.
There is very little else in the room, save for spiraling stairs heading up.
To Kiven's eyes, three interlinked magic wards can be seen about halfway up the stairs. They look fairly simplistic.
After checking the door, Kiven slowly and quietly enters the base of the tower. Surveying the room, the wine catches his eye and he picks it up to give it a sniff. Reacting with an expression indicating that it is in fact pretty good, the (former) eleven noble takes a large swallow and holds the bottle out to any of his three non-ogre companions. Wiping his lips with his magically cleaned sleeve, the elf refocuses on the room and the danger they are in, surveying for magic and traps.
As he gets closer to the stairs, Kiven stops and holds out a hand to tell the others to hold up. He takes a moment to study the magic he has found there and then exhales, shaking his head. He just mumbles something about "an embarrassment" and then, with a few simple arm and hand movements, seems to have disabled whatever wards he had found there. Knocking an arrow to his bow, the elf slowly ascends the stairs.
Kiven ascends the stairs and finds it ends with two doors. If he is oriented right, one of them goes out onto the section of the wall by the gatehouse. The other has a heavy lock, but the door is cracked open.
Peeking through, the elf can see a fair sized library, a lit fireplace, and another set of stairs. There's no immediate signs of life, but he can hear faint noises from above. An expensive vase lies broken on the floor along with the flowers it contained. It looks like it was flung against the wall.

She grimaces, seemingly not enjoying the taste, then hands the bottle to Jesla. She takes a small swig of her spicy rum instead.

Daishain, how is Grumblejack doing in here? If he's too big to reasonably ascend the stairs I can have him wait at the bottom and guard the exit or something.
Respar decides to take a drink of the wine as well. He normally drinks slightly stronger stuff, but it's been long enough since he had a drink that is tastes better than it actually is. He does ask Eya, "By the way, if you can spare the magical energy, this leg of mine is not getting any better. And if we're about to either fight or run, I'd like it back up to snuff." After Eya heals him (or opts not to), he then follows Kiven up the stairs, several steps back.
