"Madam, please accept these 3GP as recompense for our intrusion into your home. I hope that they will help provide you with some sense of security."
I say the following quietly into Sim's ear, "Perhaps we should leave before they call the City Watch. Are you familiar with the hostel this lady has mentioned?"
Given her sour demeanor towards us, I rise my eyebrows, and do my best to control myself and not slit her throat. I step outside before she finishes her rant.
While Adrasteia understands how the halfling couple may feel, Mokiakia instead feels almost vengeful. Regardless, all three adventurers follow Renaer and Floon outside. Before you are completely outside, the halfling lady takes Adrasteia's gold despite saying she didn't want any of it.
Sim: You do not know much about the Underbough Hostel apart from the fact that it exists, and that it is located on Spices Street in the Dock Ward. Upon going outside and gathering your whereabouts, you realize that the hostel cannot be more than a 2- or 3-minute walk from where you are. The halfling lady was not lying when she said it was nearby.
Renaer pipes up: "Friends, I know curiosity may be hard to resist, but shouldn't we make sure to let Volo know that we successfully rescued Floon? I am sure this Underbough Hostel and its alleged passage into the sewers are of minor importance." Those of you with a passive insight score of 12 or higher (i.e. Adrasteia and Sim) notice that Renaer is curious too, but he is worried about his exhausted and beaten friend.
"Sim, how long would it take for us to get back to where we presume Volo can be found? Does anyone know what time of day it is? If it is past 9pm, I suggest we head towards the hostel."
Sim would know that the walk back to the Yawning Portal would take approximately 45 minutes. Sim's knowledge of the streets and Mokiakia's Orb of Direction would make the journey a fairly easy one.
"I'm Rhogar," I remind Adra with a faux-puzzled look, hoping Renaer and Floon aren't suspicious at hearing her call me Sim. So far they've seemed pretty uninterested in the disappearance of "Sim" and appearance of a dragonborn, but just to be safe. I agree that we should probably head back to the Yawning Portal to show Volo that Floon is safe, and to let him get some rest. I think we all need some rest, and then we can investigate other sewer entrances...
@Sim: Renaer is nobility personified. He would never risk insulting a friends' friend by asking them directly who they were. Either that or your DM also momentarily forgot that you had changed into Rhogar. We'll never know... :)
A decision made, the group walks back to the Yawning Portal over the new several dozen minutes. Volo is drinking alone in the Yawning Portal while anxiously awaiting news of Floon’s fate. He springs up and runs to embrace the group and his friend as soon as he sees all of you. "Oh, Floon. I am so happy to see you! Are you alright? You are so beaten and bruised. You need to rest. Up! Up to my room you go. Second floor, third door to the right."
Renaer: "I shall bring him upstairs."
Floon just moans.
Volo turns to the party again: "Ahh! Who is this?" He looks at Rhogar. "Adrasteia, what happened to the other one? Did this dragonborn hurt Floon? Aprehend him!"
"Volo, this is our companion Rhogar. We met (him/her?) as we advanced through our tasks. You have nothing to fear. Perhaps we should see about some medical attention for our friend Floon?"
My pensive expression makes it seem like I'm thinking about something loftier than what I am...whether to order something to eat or go directly to bed.
"Rhogar?" Volo looks a bit dubious. "Well, I didn't promise Rhogar any gold so, I guess my dues are a bit lower now."
"And worry not, Mokiakia. I made sure your art pieces were secure in the room upstairs." He adds.
"Finally, aren't you a cleric, Adrasteia? I think we have all the healing power Floon may need right here! Shall we go up and administer some prayers?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I give Volo an appraising look. "Sim helped rescue your friend, and I'm sure you'll entrust her portion of gold into Adra and Mokiakia's care until she can collect it, being the honorable man you are." Intimidation: 13
After fixing my attire since looks are important around Waterdeep, I signal the paid for 2 mugs of ale. I give one to Volo and I add "Thanks for keeping my art safe Volo! Since you know so much about everything, where could I sell the artwork without raising any eyebrows? I promised Sim I would safekeep her portion, she is little but feisty. As I matter of fact, I am pretty certain that if I don't give her her cut of both jobs when I see her again, she might think I stole from her. I know you understand."
Volo looks a bit distraught: "Well, yes... of course. By not being here, I just assumed she was... deceased. I hear adventuring is dangerous, you know?" He keeps looking at Rhogar and quickly turning away, repeatedly, as to avoid eye contact. "Yes, let us talk about payment upstairs, including Sim's part."
While going up the stairs, Adrasteia mentions her healing capabilities and Volo's expression changes to one of relief again: "I knew I could count on you, Lady Adrasteia!"
In the room, Adrasteia immediately begins to dress Floon's wounds as a doctor would. You can all tell that she is quite experienced in performing this task. Renaer helps as he can, silently but focused. Without casting a healing spell, however, Floon will have to depend on good old rest to get back to his healthy self. He seems OK with that option: "That half-orc, Grum'shar, cast enough spells on me for a year. I'm fine just sleeping here for a few days. I'll be fine."
Once all is done, Vole says: "So, about the payment... I confess that I have but few coins to spare at the moment. Invested all my liquidity on my next tome or two, I'm afraid. But never let it be said that Volo reneges on a promise. Allow me to present something much more valuable.”He holds out a scroll tube. “The deed to a remarkable property here in Waterdeep! One that would belong to you and you alone, not your families. We’ll need a magistrate to witness the transfer of ownership. I’ll arrange a meeting with one after you’ve inspected the estate and deemed it satisfactory. Tell your friend Sim to be here to sign the deed as well, unless she wants her third to go to this Rhogar here. At any rate, this property's value is much more than the coin I offered you initially, and it only goes up! Plus, if you need hard coin, you can sell those pieces of art you found in any of the many art dealers or shops throughout town. There is one just a few blocks from here. One of my favorites. It is called 'Red Paint's Brush,' you should tell them I sent you."
To put Volo more at ease, I settle into a corner while my friends work and take out my knitting. I'm making a silk shawl. "Idle hands are the devil's workshop," I intone to no one in particular.
Volo nods to Rhogar: "Wise! That's why I'm always working on my next book! So, Adrasteia and Mokiakia, and Sim, of course, wherever she may be, will you take the deed?
Meanwhile, Renaer embraces Floon in a lovingly manner: "To help you heal better," he says.
"I am ready for our next journey my friends. Perhaps we should rest here for the night and then sell the art in the morning? We could potentially use the new funds to outfit ourselves with some new weapons and equipment?"
Edit: "I would also be open to accepting the deed in place of payment. What say you my friends?"

"My mistake, Rhogar. I had a brain fart as some here may say. I concur, let us head back to the Yawning Portal to rest and share our good news."
I add, "...Yes, let's cash in. Also, we must not forget the pieces of art that we can sell for a pretty penny".

"It is certainly true that I can heal many wounds and injuries. Let me see what I can do." Medicine check?: 18
