Torq is still standing but injured. He turns to look at Alexandria and Juliana who are both on the ground knocked out. Fighting the urge to help the twins he will pour two of the three healing potions he has into Gaelin and Mucor's mouths knowing they are much better at healing than him. As soon as they come to he'll kaw out "Help them!"
Aryn and Kelgos manage to dodge enough of the bombardment to still stand and Aryn gets off a spell and barrage of arrows. All but the second bounce harmlessly off the thick heavy scales of the dark red dragon. The lone arrow that does hit pierces through the small gap between scales on the neck of the dragon. The dragon acts as if nothing more than a flea had bit it. Torq absorbs the damage still standing and rummages through his pack to find his healing potions and pour the contents down the throats of Gaelin and Mucor. Looking around you see only Inara standing amongst the gods and dragons. Varian, Iris, Alexandria, Cedany, Juliana, Gaelin, Mucor and Jinara all lie unconscious on the charred earth. Three of the golden dragons take flight to secure the air and scan the horizon for threats while the other dragons circle in around the group of heroes.
As Torq searches through his pack those who are conscious see Davara close her eyes and begin pulsing restorative energy. The first wave hits you and everyone regains consciousness as well as 10 HP. The energy pulses 6 times in total each wave healing the wounded by 10 hit points. You also notice the deep pink and red splotches from the burns begin to heal rapidly with each pulse. Davara finishes and looks to Bahamut and the others. "Daughter of Neltharion? I thought all his offspring were destroyed." "They were... or so we thought. Apparently one remains from his accursed breed." Bahamut answers. Iris coughs up a mixture of smoke and blood and says timidly, "Onyxia most likely. The king of Phoax had stolen her as an egg and Neltharion came to claim her back. At least that would explain the lack of information about her." Realizing she interrupted she quickly shuts up and stands shakily to her feet. "Onyxia... She seems to be following in her father's footsteps. Since the cataclysm, Chromatic dragons have not dared to mingle the colors. If she is uniting them again we will have great difficulty in protecting the pillars." he turns to look back at Jinara and the others. "I fear you may be right in the expediency of Neltharion's return... the worst is only yet to come. We must warn the defenders of the last remaining pillars. We must prepare for war. One that none of you are ready for. I will endeavor to aid you in whatever way I can. For now, I must make my own preparations. Expect word from me soon."Bahamut and the other dragons each transform back into their humaoid and canary forms. Hazilegosa steps forward and gives Jinara a tight embrace and kiss on the cheek. "We will meet again soon. I hope that when that times comes, we will be able to talk more. Jinara... a pleasant name. Be brave Jinara."Inara nods and replies, "The druids are already aware and taking more steps to increase our defenses."
Aryn- Your senses flare as your hunter's mark pickup the location of the dark red dragon hundreds or thousands of miles off to the east.
Aryn- You close your eyes and focus on the sensation pulsing through your bloodstream. You think of the dark red dragon and turn your body honing in on the feeling. Your eyes open and you see a column of red light far away in the distance and the feeling fades to a dull pulse while you maintain concentration. The dragon is around 4000 miles away to the northeast. Judging by the angle and knowledge of the basic layout of Telgun, you would assume they are located on the eastern side of the Burning Steppes, a large desert that spans between the Thettarus and Lural kingdoms. (It's the big tan patch above Xadiff on the world map.) (Assuming you relate this information...)
Bahamut and Davara look over to Aryn with amused appreciation. “The Burning Steppes… a desolate landscape rarely traversed outside of the trade routes. A dangerous place for eve deadlier beasts. I urge you not to investigate their location further. For all we know if could be a trap or a diversion. I will inform my dragons to keep watch over the area. Thank you for this information. It may be most valuable in the coming days. If you choose to search for the rift to shadowfell or hunt for Antonidus, be cautious and alert one of us if you can. For now I must take my leave and warn the protectors of the fourth pillar.” Bahamut says stepping away from the group. Hazilegosa gives a final squeeze of the hand to Jinara and hugs Inara before joining Bahamut’s side. “Until we meet again Lightbringers.” Bahamut says and as if on que a crack of thunder echoes out as a column of light descends onto the pair and they vanish in a flash of light.
Davara looks over the group and says, “I too will provide what assistance I can in the fight that is to come. I fear this is where we must part ways for now. Before I go let me offer one last gift. It will be a great burden on your mind Jinara, but if you allow me I can attempt to restore some of your memories, if they still exist. You’ve created many more and the mind can only retain so much.” She turns back to look at the rest of the group. “Continue to look after one another. Your strength lies not only within your individual talents but your shared spirit for what is right.”
Inara and Varian bow and smile at the group though both look very haggard from the attacks. “There is much to be done Lightbringers. I must inform all the kingdoms leaders of the potential danger, though I fear some may be skeptical. Neltharion has become little more than myth to many. I recommend some rest before you decide on your next move. I can handle Epos if you wish to return to the castle immediately.” Varian says holding his side.
Jinara- if you accept, make an Intelligence saving throw.
Torq looks better than everyone else except for the dragons thanks to his tough body but his feathers are still charred at the edges and curl in. "Thank you for protecting us. We'll need all the help we can get. Were it not for your intervention today I'm pretty sure we would've been burnt to a crisp. (pun intended) If we are set on fighting such creatures we will need to train and become much stronger or to find a way to separate them from one another. Rest would do us some good." Torq says placing a wing around Alexandria and Juliana as both comfort and protection. He did his best to repress the images of them lying on the ground out of his mind and focus on their well being at present.
Jinara- You feel a wave of energy course through you and for a moment feel as if your soul is pushed from your physical body. Your eyes go white and you begin to blink rapidly as memories begin to enter into your consciousness. You recall the days of the battle killing multiple dragons as you flew through the air. The sky was dark and a huge column of smoke and ash spewed into the air from the erupting volcano. You remember seeing your brother engaged in a battle before Neltharion ambushed him from above severing his right wing. You remember the colossal shape of the three twisted dragons as they plummeted to the ground and your brother still battling Neltharion and Raikyrth. You feel a pain in your side from a blue dragon's lightning breath and turn to blast it with a jet of flame. When you look back over to where your brother should be you see only Neltharion and Raikyrth flying back up into the sky. You dive madly like a falling star tucking in your wings aiming for Neltharion.
You impact with a deafening thump and ricochet off Neltharion's body sending an array of gold and dark red scales flying off into the sky as you both scratch and gouge with your claws. You immediately impact Raikyrth who was just behind Neltharion and your claws find purchase as you grasp onto his body and begin ripping away at the inferior foe. Your rage intensifies and you bite down hard onto Raikyrths neck as Netlharion slams into you and pulls you away. This new trio of twisting dragons continues to fall towards the water below as each fights for their lives. You manage to plant your legs into Neltharion's chest and heave causing him to break from the group and tumble. You seize the glimpse of a moment and contort your body just enough to give you a shot at Raikyrth's neck. You see the portion of exposed leathery skin and the punture marks from your previous bite. You lunge and chomp down sinking your teeth deep into the flesh. You growl and conjure up a molten jet of flame that blasts open the neck severing the head of Raikyrth from the body. You release the headless corpse and turn to look up just as an intense searing pain juts through you. You feel your body fall and look back to see your back broken and a large gaping wound where your wing should be. You stare up and see the dark shape of Neltharion clutching his chest with one arm and hovering above you. clutched in his legs is your wing shimmering from the molten blood that drips from it. The last image you see is a dark pulse from within and you focus in on the source and see a large dark crystal. Your body slams into the ocean and your vision goes dark. Your eyes recover their color and you blink looking around and see your friends and a smiling Davara staring at you.
Mucor's eyes would flicker open as the scorched elf lets out a strained exhale. After a few moments he would push himself on to his feet and dust himself off. His eyes scanning quickly until settling upon Aryn. A small sigh of relief comes from Mucor as he seems to relax a bit. "I had forgotten how much it hurts to be poisoned... and being burned still hurts just as much as it used to...." He would grumble to himself.
(Sorry all. Travel weekend for the holidays. I will work to post when I can, but feel free to continue the narrative. Jinara is going to be stunned for a bit unless Davara or someone aims to interact with him after his memory reload. Have a great Memorial Day!!)
"I have to agree with Aryn here. We were not ready for attacks like that. At least not that many and well coordinated. Do we know if there are more powerful weapons than what we posses now? If so would they be enough to help us defeat these dragons?" Torq asks changing from conversing with the group to Davara.
While Jinara ponders this revelation of information you nurse your wounds and exhale a figurative sigh of relief. Varian and Inara chat quietly while Davara stares intently at Jinara gauging his mental state. After a few minutes you see the familiar flash of the teleportation circle atop the mountain and watch as Epos and a pair of archivists approach slowly. Varian draws them aside and you overhear a brief explanation of what occurred with a few details retracted, or inaudible. Regardless Epos and Varian return to the group after a few minutes and Epos bows low before Davara who gives a smile and nod. "Varian has explained everything to me and I am glad to know you will aid us in this coming battle. Please feel free to return to the archives if ever you have need."
Mucor would place his hand on Aryn's shoulder as he works to stead himself a bit. "I'm hungry... I think we could all use a rest and something to fill our bellies."
"Thank you Epos. We will try to give you a head's up the next time we come." Aryn says and wraps her arm around Mucor's back and lets his arm slide over her neck to support him. "I can go along with that. Inara, Varian... Davara, could one of you assist in our transport?"
Davara looks over to Aryn and before Inara or Varian can jump in she says, "I can arrange that. If you all are prepare to go all I need from you is your consent." She turns back to Jinara and takes a moment to peer into his troubled eyes. "Call out to me when you are in need. If I am able I will reply. Wait and hope my child." Varian looks over the group and still clutching his side says, "We will discuss more when we have all recovered. Until then, rest well and be vigilant." Inara smiles and places her hand on Mucor's shoulder. "You have all come a long way but there is still a long journey ahead. When you are ready and able come find me at the grove and I will show you our pillar." There's a moment of quiet that passes and Iris locks eyes with Davara and she smiles in return. "Until we meet again Lightbringers..."Davara says and with a simple flick of her wrist you all disappear in a flash of light. You reappear at teh castle, but not in the teleportation circle room. Instead you are each teleported to the dining hall and are seated at the table. Sitting on the table in front of you lies an assortment of food already prepared. Around you are the surprised inhabitants of the castle who look awestruck at the strange entrance made by their heroes. Some of the soldiers bang their flagons against the table in show of support while others simply nod and turn back to their own meals. The smells of the food hit your noses and you feel yourself exhale deeply as a sense of safety returns.
