Oh hey, nice tip! Thanks! While we're on the subject, something I've often wanted to do but haven't been able to figure out how is to tooltip class features. But that might not be implemented. Any idea? Like, for example [ tooltip ] bardic inspiration [ / tooltip ]
(OOC: Yeah, that would be nice. To my knowledge, the tooltips don't have that functionality yet. I know that you can do that on Discord with the Avrae bot though. That bot is pretty good if you ever want to PbP through Discord.)
Celric, what do you think about the zone of truth idea? (If you'd rather not spend the spell slot I will also throw out there that a lying corpse is no different from a lying living creature as far as insight checks go, and there is a crapload of insight in this group, between Balian's reliable talent and Shale's +8, among others. Of course that wouldn't give you the truth, just detect the falsehood.)
"I think this one may have more to say." Shale begins to cast speak with dead on the kuo-toa. "Let me know what questions you all would like to try to have answered. I'll start with an obvious one...," the cleric turns back to the fish man.
The kuo-toa's body folds at the waist in an unnatural looking sitting up motion. Its eyes glow an ethereal white, obscuring its pupils. At Shale's question (I'm assuming Jarl gave you an undercommon translation) it tilts its head. You all hear a reverberating, bone-chilling whisper.
"How can one get to its lair from here, without being under the sway of your master?"
(OOC: Yes, Jarl is translating. Also, if we have another question, I'd argue that Jarl could have told Squiggles how kuo-toa breathe, rather than passing that question on to be asked of it.)
If no one else has another question, "What type of attack or energy your master is vulnerable to, or would not be damaged by?" But Jarl will see if anyone else has any other questions before he asks that one.
The ex-kuo-toa pauses... "It already knows you're here. If it wanted to come out it would."
At that you hear a loud whisper, modulating in timbre, accompanied by a swirling and glowing white light emanating from the kuo-toa's body. The light swirls upward and disappears into the cavern ceiling, as the corpse collapses once again into the water.
The half-elf watches the puppet show with detached interest, but starts to frown and look around the room again when the kuo-toa mentions the passageway below the chamber.
"So we're going swimming then? My weapons won't like this one bit."
"I don't like the idea of fighting underwater where we have to hold our breath, not to mention it will be harder for our strikes to find their mark. We need to find a way to draw it out."

”In fact I can help with that. I will always gladly help my companions. Raise the fiend and I will make sure only the truth passes their lips.”
Celric waits until everything and everyone is ready and casts zone of truth. “Be quick I can only keep it up for ten minutes”

"Where is the one you served?"

Undercommon:
"The one I served? Presumably it is in its lair."

"Is its lair through that circle at the other end of the tunnel?"
(Anyone have questions, feel free to throw them out there.)
Flynt tilts his chin and asks," Are there other evil denziens down here?"
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Squiggles asks "How do you breath outside of water?"
Oops, forgot to make the CHA save vs. Zone of Truth: 20
So it fails, obviously.

"I know of two ways. There is a passageway beneath this room, and another on the outskirts of the city. But both are filled with water."
You can go ahead and ask one more question, since Jarl and Shale would both have had to approve the questions.

Shale holds up a hand to Jarl. "How do we call the aboleth from its lair?"
The whole cavern has 2-3" of water on the ground.

Flynt shakes his head. "agreed. This creature would have the advantage. If there was a way to bring it out with a spell or taking an object."
