"Tracking someone through the bush with yer focus on the tracks is a sure way to get shot in the face. Best everyone keep close and alert so as to let the scout focus on where we're going." Shoving some biscuits in his mouth and washing them down with warm ale, the dwarf adds. "I'm ready whenever everyone else is."
"Theos, would you prefer to wait until the morning to start the search? They already have quite a few hours on us. And it's not unlikely that they would camp out at night making our approach potentially easier. I'm of the opinion to just go on now, albeit that we too will be dealing with the dark. And since we didn't immediately chase after them, they may not be expecting us at all." Liet will ask, further adding "Also... what shall we do when we find them? Try to capture them to learn more? I can track and watch... but I'm not great at asking questions..."
((@Baron. you said 'individuals' and 'men' about them. Does that mean human specifically?))
((It's been 2 days, I'm moving the story forward))
After much deliberation, the group decides to take off in the evening again. This time, however, there is no road to guide you, only Liet with his faint fire light, led by McFuddy, tracking the two men's trail through the forest. It is eerily silent, with only the wind rustling the leaves of the trees. Your pace is noticeably slower, but you are still able to distinctly follow the path of trampled grass and broken limbs. You are completely surrounded on all sides by the forest, and the moonlight above is dim as it breaks through the branches overhead. Were it not for Liet's light, you likely couldn't have even attempted to walk through here. You have all been walking this way for a little over an hour.
Yeah, you know what, you rolled so stupid good on both that no one else needs to roll.
As the wind dies down momentarily, Liet can hear a quiet grumble, then snort. The sound of a few sticks breaking and leaves being trampled draws his attention off to the right of the group. Despite the dim light, you catch a glimpse of a large bear dappled in the streaks of moonlight penetrating the trees. The beast stands up on its hind legs, and sticks its nose in the air. From behind it, another bear, not quite as large, walks out into view. The large one flops back down on all fours, then paws at the ground, snorting. It bares it's teeth and goes silent and motionless, as does the other one. The wind picks up, rustling the leaves again. You can no longer see or hear them. They were about 60 feet away. You are in the forest in the dead of night, unless you have darkvision, your only source of light is Liet's flame which sheds light 10 feet, then dim light 10 more, FYI. Anything beyond that is imperceptible.
Liet is the only one that saw this. What do you do?
Liet would have alerted the group, and would agree to try to not disturb them. No reason to fight the creatures of the forest if they do not first threaten us.
Nalla keeps her hand axes ready as the group moves around the bears. (I'd like to ready an action that if anything comes into Nalla's vision moving at a quick pace, she will attack it.)
Perception: 6 Survival: 11 (Even after the long rest, Nalla still has Level 1 exhaustion so these are at disadvantage, lol geez)

Theos
Theos will continue along with the grou, trying to stay as quiet as possible. If Liet needs it, (or any others for that matter), he will give them Guidance.
Those with darkvision see: The large bear stops its snarl, stands on its hind legs again, and sniffs the air deeply. The beast plops back down and begins to walk toward the party. It's previously defensive demeanor seems to have disappeared. At about twenty feet the creature stops and sniffs the air once again. In the dim light, the entire party can now see the large bear lock its gaze on Ruhkis. The large bear, followed by what seems to be a smaller, adolescent one, begins to approach the dwarf with intent, not necessarily intent to harm, but it is obviously interested in Ruhkis.
Theos, ((from perception)) you see a large patch of dark red around the muzzle of the creature as it approaches your friend. It is apparent the beast has recently killed...something.
((from your survival roll, Ruhkis, you know from living in this part of the world that it is odd for bears to approach people at all. The only stories you've heard have been attacks, so this is very out of the ordinary))

Liet will start by casting druidcraft to sound like a small animal running behind it. Then he'll see if he can use [skill]animal handling[/spell] (roll: 13) to calm or shoo it away, while backing away from its cub so he presents no threat to it.
Theos will cautiously back away from the cub, like Liet did.
If, by any chance, combat ensues, he will stay back and use his bonus action to cast Sanctuary on whoever is in front, and then use his action for Sacred Flame on the larger bear.
quietly" Keep moving, slowly. Bears are not to be messed with if possible. if i can get them to follow me, i can simply fly out of it's reach, while you get away." Bow and arrow at the ready, knocked, drawn and ready to let fly. As the group keeps moving forward I would stop and let them walk past me. I wont kill the beast, unless I must, however if it lunges or seems to even hint at an attack, arrow will fly.

NALLA
Seeing that others are backing away, Nalla does so as well, making sure to stay in the view of the fire and keep close to Ruhkis as she keeps both handaxes raised and ready. (I'll ready an action to attack mother bear if Ruhkis attacks her or if she so much as bares her teeth at him)
The bear closes in on Ruhkis, seemingly docile, about 10 feet or less away. It continues to sniff at the air as it approaches. It is purposefully walking a bit faster as you all try to back away.
Noting the focus of the bear rests solely on him, Ruhkis realizes that he can't back away with the rest of his companions. Cursing under his breath, the dwarf slowly puts his axe on the ground with the handle resting against his knee. With his hands out wide so as to appear non-threatening, Ruhkis says loud enough to be heard - but not so loud as to startle the animals - "I'm gettin' sorta tired of wild animals acting with more intent than their instincts should be allowin'. Perhaps we don't kill 'em if we don't have to?"
Risking a nervous glance and a shrug at McFuddy, Ruhkis steels himself for the worst while his mind races through the inventory of his pockets wondering what he could possibly have that would be even mildly interesting to a bear.
((Conceding a surprise attack to the bear if it so chooses. If hit succeeds I will use a reaction to cast shield and try to avoid taking damage. On round 1 I'll cast mold earth directly under the bear and try to excavate as much ground beneath it as possible - with the intent to drop it in as much of a pit as I can create with the cantrip. Subsequent round I'll pick up the axe and disengage, going to frostbite once out of close combat, resorting to the axe if not given the choice.))
((surprise only happens if you aren't expecting an attack - DM discretion of course - I'd say you're ready for an attack, so surprise isn't as likely...))
((If, and only if needed, Liet will try to stay back and use his Flame for attacks))
The bear ambles slowly toward Ruhkis, with a nervous looking cub in tow. The apparent mother is as tall as the dwarf despite being on all fours. It puts its snout inches from the dwarf's face and sniffs at him deeply. It cocks it's head to the side, and breaths again. It lowers its head, snout now sniffing at his chest, still seemingly docile. ((Assuming you don't move and stay still as stone)).
The large creature then rather abruptly sticks its head in the dwarf's cloak and begins poking around. With none in the party speaking a word, all you hear is grunts and snorts coming from the bear half inside the dwarf's clothes. The cub sits down next to its mother and looks around, particularly at McFuddy. It has a look of confusion on it's face. A moment later the large bear's head emerges from Ruhkis's cloak with a pouch grasped delicately between it's teeth. The cub sniffs at the air and stands up quickly, confusion replaced with obvious anticipation. The mother bear pierces the pouch while holding it with her teeth, and a half dozen biscuits fall to the ground. The cub greedily begins to eat the treats as the mother, more reserved, grabs one herself. They are now occupied with their prize, should you want to move on. The tracks of the two men are still very clear.
((Gain 60 XP each, this could have easily been a combat encounter, also, gain 30 from the wolf encounter if you haven't already, I may have forgot to tell you.))

RE medicine roll. You can't tell much. Other than the shape of the wound was in the shape of the band.
RE time of day. It's dusk, correct.
RE tracks. With McFuddys help you can find them again very easily, day or night.
