Imela: The Adventure Begins

"Also how about that chest," he flashes a boyish grin.

Leaving Kelvin to inspect the papers, Zakon heads over to the chest.  The door wasn’t particularly tricky, but he doesn’t trust anything about this place.  He carefully looks over the chest, checking to see if there are any traps before he attempts to open it.  

The door to the chest is securely locked. A few glances around the small shelves in the room reveal only a couple of ledgers. It appears this must have been the temple's treasury.

Assured that there is no trap, Zakon will try to open the chest.  He exhales softly, centering himself, and then begins the delicate work of manipulating the tumblers. 

Kelvin waits with baited breath as Zakon gets to work, looking around nervously but excitedly at the other two.

The chest contains 2,100 copper, 190 silver, and 110 gold in the chest, along with a bronze key.

Zakon’s eyes widen as he takes in the contents of the chest.  “Do we want to take this now? It’s a lot to carry.  This, however,” he says, brandishing the key, “this may be useful.”  He hands it to Kelvin.  “Shall we see what that opens?” he says with a smile. 

Trailing Kelvin and Zakon into the room, Viaya looks around curiously but leaves those two to do most of the in depth searching. Wondering again at the everyday lives of the people who had created such a well appointed temple out in the middle of all this wilderness. At what had happened to turn everything here so wrong. The elf immediately distracted when she looks over and sees the contents of the chest. "I'm definitely feeling better about not leaving now." She adds as Zakon passes the key to the sorcerer, grinning. "That's a pretty amount of coin, even split four ways." And most certainly a lot to carry even when split. "If we want to clear the rest of the temple before coming back for that, we'll likely want to lock it back up. Maybe hide it away somewhere a bit less obvious. Just to be careful. As for the key..." Eyeing it for a moment, the elf turns to regard the second door. Checking carefully to to see if it too is locked or trapped and if the lock looks to be a match. 

Investigation: 18

"HaHA! Good job Zakon!" Kelvin beams, the light glittering off the contents of the chest playing and reflecting across his silver-scaled face. "We could easily split this now, it's not like we have to take the chest or anything. This key though..." Kelvin reaches out to Zakon's extended hand, taking the key and following Viaya to the second door.

Theo is pleased that the chest didn't kill anyone. He offers guidance to those inspecting the next door.

The door in the back of the room is unlocked. Since you know that this door and the other two on this floor are unlocked, the only logical conclusion is that it must go to something upstairs. In the meantime, peeking into the next room, you see a set of rotten couches and meditation stools arranged haphazardly around this room, while light streams through the dirty windows.

Zakon wrinkles his nose at the dust and smell of disuse coming from the room.  "I wonder how long those people thought they'd be asleep?  It's been quite some time, judging from this place."  He looks carefully around the room, alert for more traps.

Nothing looks to be amiss, just an old, rotting meditation room. Much like everything else in the temple, it appears that the items here have not seen use in almost a century.

“Nothing but dust and disuse here,” Zakon says.  “Shall we move on to the rest of the floor and then find out where that key goes?”

Kelvin follows Zakon in and sneezes, spraying cold mist into the dusty air. "Let's take stock, we've explored all but two rooms on this floor, right?"

"Agreed, but let's not be careless. We should clear these two rooms before going upstairs."

He is anxious to be moving on but remembers opening a door onto a room full of zombies.

“I agree, Theo.  Let’s make sure nothing else is going to try and kill us before we head upstairs,” Zakon says. 

Theo

"Of course, I'd prefer it if they'd try kill us upstairs as well...I mean, that's not what I meant to say.." he shifts his shield, guidance. "Let's go shall we?"

Alright, there are two rooms left upstairs: the one directly across from the treasury and the one across from the herbology lab.

Zakon heads over to the closest door ((the one across from the treasury?)) and stops, still alert for more tricks and traps.  "Let's see what's in here, shall we?" he says quietly to the others.
