Dekhan's hands grabs Sildar's body. There is no light, no glow of healing warmth, just a pause. Nothing seems to have happened. The conversation continues around the paladin and fallen warrior.
Dekhan, time seems to slow for you. You hear Scupper's voice "work comes first..." and the last word draws out, longer and longer, until the world is still and unmoving around you. You sense the presence of something powerful, something wise, nearby, watching, but not interfering. You feel the healing, the last you have, flow from your hands into Sildar. The presence draws closer. You see a slight flutter of Sildar's eyelids. The presence must be right by you now, it is so close, yet you see nothing. And then it fades. There is no message, no wisdom has been granted you, yet you know with absolute certainty that something of great importance has just happened, something that will change the fates of many lives. Time speeds up, and you are returned to the world. Scupper's voice continues, "...then the light", and further away, Asher, Dario and Incantis all seem to be speaking at once.
Sildar's eyes open, and he looks at you, confused. What... What happened?

I absolutely loved this description. Very engaging. Awesome job Steve!

Yeah, that was awesome. #DMgoals. Definitely a turning point for Dekhan.
"Life give and life take indeed." Incantis clears his throat. "It does seems odd I should enter the cave destined to die yet emerge alive, while Sildar seemed destined for rescue yet lays dead. The stars move ever onward, as should we I suppose."
"hmmmm. Incantis enter cave why?" Strix abruptly realises he's still holding his hatchet, and pauses momentarily unsure if it's more threatening to move it towards his belt drawing attention to it or keep it brandished but still and less noticeable.
upon getting the berries or potion from Dario, Dekhan will administer them to Sildar and make sure he is comfortable. Strix, my friend, please, put up your weapon. Fear and suspicion have provoked enough bloodshed this day. Incantis is a friend and we may speak as such. Incantis, tell us your story, how did you come to be in this forest? and how did you come to be the goblin's prisoner?
Strix clings to his hatchet much as he clings to life, eying the berries enviously, wondering if maybe he should pick a fight with the blades man too, but at the back of his mind a nagging feeling tells him he's been warned before about doing exactly that... Damn those tasty fruits! He disarms and returns to leading the cart.
Aye, Scupper, misfit bastards we may be, but we are marked for greatness, I sensed it when I healed Sildar. It was... indescribable but undeniable just the same. Greatness awaits us, be sure of that. And don’t think I’ve forgotten the tale we’re owed by you. Tell us a tale of high adventure tale our minds off the business at hand for a moment.
Incantis opens his mouth to speak and pauses, shaking his head. You'll have to forgive me, his voice echoes through your minds once more. I'm not used to speaking aloud; I can count on my fingers the number of times I've used my voice outside of the past week. I was raised in my people's haven, tracking the movements of Zhudun the corpse star. It seems to have taken quite the odd turn over Neverwinter Wood and so I have been following it. As for the goblins, that was an unfortunate coincidence, they beset upon me while I was immersed in meditation and had mind to feed me to their wolves. He turns to Dekhan. It does seem as though the corpse star’s movements have brought us together.

The corpse Star? I dont know of this star? Wait, should I be talking or thinking? Scupper, can you hear me when I’m thinking? Wait, Incantis, can you hear all my thoughts or just the ones I send to you. Bald bald bald oh light. Foxes, thrush, wagon wheel, butthole, oh gods!

I quite literally spat my coffee out when I read this. Well done Sir.
When the party catches up to Soodi and Varinth they will find Vaz passed out, snoring loudly. A smattering of dead mosquitoes gently cascading from his awkwardly reclining form.
Incantis tilts his head in mild confusion at the pause. Yes, you should be talking, I can only project, not read. And Zhudun is one of many elder stars, my...sect...interprets its wanderings and taps into its power.

Sure and you'd have to follow it. Aye the Corpse Star isn't for navigatin' that's for sure. Feckin' star dancin' about the sky like an eejit. What sense is that?
...Sorry Incantus. Sailors is not too fond o' that star leading ships off the edge of the Faerun if'n they're not careful. You were sayin'?
I am glad to hear it, Incantis, thank you and you as well, Scupper, for the astronomy lesson. How does this star come to travel across the sky when all the rest are fixed in the firmament?
"Not te interrupt our scholarly discussion...but afore we reach town...Sildar, you're alive and you'll live, but you tested people's patience too close to they own near deaths and they reacted poorly and paranoid...as can happen so close to dying. Let that be the end of it and none is worse off. Lessons learned and all that? Or have we more to discuss?"
As you talk, Asher is standing next to the cart, staring at his glaive lying on the ground, not reacting to anything that anyone says or does. He doesn't appear to have noticed that Sildar is alive and awake.
Sildar listens to Scupper's comments, and seems to consider them. Lessons learned... He sighs, and speaks quietly to himself. People change, it's true, and it's many years since I knew Helrick. He looks over at Asher, and shakes his head, seemingly confused. I agreed to pay you all to bring me safe to Phandalin, and I would honour that bargain. Perhaps we should get underway?
As you move to leave, Asher picks up his weapon and follows, but makes no move towards the cart; you will need another driver.

You are alive, that’s what matters for now, save your strength. Dario! Come here quickly, a potion or the berries. Quickly now!
Strix shrugs.
"Sildar owed. Life give, life take. Well..... debt cleared. Do favour. Life debt hard live with. So.... We go now?"
Nicely put mr Steve! It's almost as if you planned it this way all along.....

Scupper eases the bowstring back and removes the arrow.
"No heroes welcome for anyone tonight then. Jest a ragtag bunch of misfit bastards still looking for their purse strings and spider's webs."
