Okay, I need Deception checks from everyone in the 'crowd', that's Strix, Incantis, Dekhan and Zoria.
Scupper, with your background you can roll this Intimidation check at advantage, so give me one more d20.
Vaz, please roll an Intimidation check too. Unfortunately, your advantage from reaching your Threshold is cancelled out by your first CON save failure, so it's just a straight role.
I'll need everyone's rolls in before I can see how this scheme will start to play out.
Dario, what are you doing? Would you have joined the group inside?
Dario huddles with Scupper and Dekhan outside the Sleeping Giant Inn and nods at Scupper's suggestion. "That could work. If I see any Redbrand coming I'll tie the string to my arrow and shoot it at the door. I'll add as my string as Redbrands. Whoever we post up near the door (Incantis) at the inn will see the arrow and grab it. I'll continue to stay posted on the roof and not make a move and watch in case more Redbrands coming running from wherever."
...BACK ON THE ROOF
Staying as well hidden as possible on the roof, Dario keeps an eye out. Coming from the manor he notices two men dressed in what looks like red coming down the path toward the inn.
Dario takes out one his arrows and two pieces of string. He ties the two pieces of string onto the shaft of the arrow, notches the arrow into his bow, and then aims it at the foot of the entrance at the Sleeping Giant Inn and lets the arrow go and watches for Incantis to grab it.
Maybe I didn't describe it well. I shot an arrow and there are two pieces of string or cloth tied to the arrow shaft to indicate I see two Reds approaching. Sorry....
With a start, Incantis looks up to see one of his companion Dario's arrows stuck in the tavern door, affixed with two pieces of string. Darting his gaze around, the odd-looking half-elf stays back towards the door of the tavern, pretending to simply listen in on the party's conversation. "Fellows," he whispers into the party's minds. "Dario's spotted two redbrands, what's our move?"

Scupper is proposing a deception/trap for the Redbrands, but as the two approaching Redbrands haven't arrived yet, there's still time to discuss. Incantis, Dekhan and Zoria, you heard Scupper propose and describe his plan. If you want to go ahead with it and join in, then please give me Deception checks. If you want to disagree or propose something else, then feel free to have that discussion now.
Dario, are you staying on the roof outside, or will you come in to join whatever happens inside the Sleeping Giant, or something else?
Dekhan will act intimidated of Vaz and Scupper when the pretending starts. Maybe even giving himself a bloody nose or a split lip to make it seem like they roughed him up a little bit.
Dario, you watch as the two Redbrands head down into the town and make for the Sleeping Giant. One pushes the door open, and they both pause, surprised in the doorway.
Everyone else:
The door opens, and a Redbrand who was about to enter pauses, surprised. Scupper delivers his speech, and the Redbrand considers for a moment:
He grins. Well, if there's coin to spend on drink, and it's not my coin, then the, um... 'town guard' thanks you, friend. He looks to Grista for confirmation, and she nods without hesitation, inviting the two Redbrands to join you. The second Redbrand seems a little less convinced, but nevertheless takes a seat with his buddy. They both accept drinks, but show no interest in going to get the other Redbrands to join you.
The plan isn't to attack, as far as I understand it. Have a look at Scupper's posts on the last page.
Although this is, to an extent, Scupper's operation, everyone else, please do feel free to have fun describing how you are playing your part and supporting the performance. I will give advantage on upcoming Deception or other Charisma-based checks where deserved. :)
Dekhan will play the part of a scared traveler, the son of a merchant, who used his father’s money to buy a sword and set of armor. He’ll keep to himself, casting nervous glances at the “pirates” and if anyone engages him, he’ll go on about how scary it is to have pirates in town, thank god the Redbrands are here to keep them in line, things like that.
We heard there might be some newcomers in town. The first Redbrand is enjoying his (spiked) ale and bemused at being thought of as the town guard, and aims his words at Dekhan. Something about a goat, right? What's your business here, friend?

So OOC, is tugging on the arrow-string basically a confirmation that I got your warning?

Dario will stay out hidden on the roof and provide back up when starts hearing the fighting start.

What is "the signal" to attack? Or are we trying to wait until the redbrands leave the tavern to attack?
