So Grista...This the wild bunch you claimed was goin' te drink me out o' house and home? haha! A couple o guards? Maybe a whole town watch could win yer bet...but it's lookin grim for ye.
The idea was to hopefully get a large number of Redbrands to the Sleeping Giant, drinking like mad, and out of the way... So far the plan isn't working. 2 Redbrands doesn't save us much trouble. 15 would be better. But in order to do that, these two (at some point, need to go get their friends). The other option, I see is to leave and hit everything and hope to live (Redbrands, Bugbears, Eyeball Monster, Wizard). I'm less hopeful about that.
This was a long shot but I'm still hoping it could work a little better.
The second Redbrand pipes up. Yeah, now that you mention it, where's Cott and his crew? They were down today, yeah?
Grista speaks quickly. They were here this morning, then they headed out. Don't know where.
Redbrand 2 seems not entirely satisfied by that, and seems to want to leave, perhaps to go and find his friends. He starts whispering something into Redbrand 1's ear.
Anyone who wishes to (except Dario) can make an Insight check.
Varinth is in his element. This is his wheelhouse, this where he lives. Self aware enough to know that his pirate accent is sub par, he keeps to his own. He has found the trick to eliciting information is asking questions but seem unconcerned if they're answered. He has also done this enough times to know that he is close to black out, so makes sure any relevant information is repeated or known to other party members.
By tha gods I didn' *hic* didn' *hic* even ask your names. I'm Vaz! I swab me. Always swabbing. Don't know much else! So how'd ya get such a fant *hic* fantas *hic* great job? Protectin a wee town n all
Also, knowing he is getting too drunk, Vaz will start Gobwashing (The act of looking like one is drinking heartily but is actually only taking small sips if anything at all).
Varinth, these seem the nicest pair of lads you could ever hope to meet in a place like this. One has a decent beard, the other has stubble suggesting he shaved about three days ago.
Varinth, your grip on your tankard is a bit shaky and its hard to stop from letting the contents slide down your throat; make a general Dexterity check (at disadvantage) for gobwashing.
The guards don't appear interested in having a conversation with you, and Redbrand 1 eyes you as Redbrand 2 continues to whisper to him.
Varinth, you are now at the second level of intoxication, and have disadvantage on saving throws as well as attack rolls and ability checks. One more failure will put you unconscious.
Dekhan will feign drunkenness by knocking his ale over at the table and stumbling up to the bar to order another acting as though he’s emboldened by the Redguards being there. Now see, now we’ve some men here! Town Guard, thirsty I’d wager, guarding is thirsty work! I was in the guard myself back home. Loved it I did, braining a few civs to keep the peace, and keeping a piece my self every now and then. Where you lads on the job today?
Thirsty, says Redbrand 1, that's right enough. He turns to his friend, who has finished whispering. Time enough for that in a minute. Redbrand 2 sits down, looking unhappy, and takes a swig of his drink. Redbrand 1 drains his tankard and waves it around, clearly hoping to see it filled.
Strix, you're not really sure what's going on with the Redbrands. They certainly haven't drunk much yet. Actually, a jig might be just the thing!
Shouting into his tankard "No! Not dance!" Strix reaches around to grab himself by the scruff of the neck and haul himself out of his chair, the same hand holding his jaw open as he pours the contents of the tankard down his throat, coughing and spluttering. Both hands grasp his collar and drag him into a clear piece of floor where he stands awkwardly, elbowing himself until he acquiesces and begins a half-hearted hornpipe.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
By the 12 hells and Underdark as well...You have a strange town full of unusual types.

Te' be honest...I probably wouldn't hire ye to watch my town. Ye got they way about ye...not like the usual stuffed shirts and law n' order types...the bastards...no offense if'n you's is all law n' order. Jest yer a bit like some o the lads I've sailed wit. Plenty good lads as far as I'm concerned...but maybe if'n yer lot is protecting it against boredom...haha.

Varinth is barely aware that he is currently on land with that insight check.
Does either of the Redbrands support a beard?

Dexterity: 5
Varinth, your hand 'slips', almost with a mind of its own, and you manage to drink the entire tankard. However did that happen? (Make a CON save)
Varinth, through increasingly doubled vision, realizes that the Redbrands are getting suspicious. He looks to see where the bottle of Fireseed is.
This is gunna go tits up. Plan A. Set the beard on fire. Plan 2. Get under table. Varinth thinks to himself

Strix sits in the corner and murmurs into his tankard "Not work. Shud gone back Gobbie cave."
Hes quite surprised when his tankard responds "Grow a pair you big Jesse. We're a pirate now, miladdo! Do a jig, they're getting suspicious.

I'm cursed! Cursed to roll shit unless the roll is for nothing! Bet this inconsequential roll here is a natural 21 10

Dekhan, you can see that Redbrand 1 wants to stay and drink more; but you're not quite sure what will persuade him to do so.
