Scupper, the north door has no traps and is not locked. You open it a little and peek inside. This room appears to be a wizard’s workshop. A rat scurries across the floor and takes refuge under a large worktable set up with all kinds of alchemical devices, all of it stewing and bubbling away. Bookshelves are crowded with sheaves of parchment and strange-looking tomes. You can't see the whole room through just a crack in the door, but you don't see any sign of an occupant.
Scupper, you enter the room and look around. What you couldn't see before is mostly just bookshelves; there's a lot of them. The worktable looks like it's for brewing potions, but you don't see anything that looks like a completed potion.
The rat stares back at you and comes a little closer, sniffing in your direction. It moves out from under the worktable and sits in the middle of the floor. It might be hungry, or just curious.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Scupper, as you have no magical background at all, you've no idea about familiars or any connection a rat might have to a wizard. However, you have a lot of experience with casual cruelty and that rat does make an appealing target for a dagger.
Rat's initiative: 1
(As you have higher dexterity than the rat, you take your turn first.)
Scupper, the dagger hits true and the rat... vanishes. There's no body and no blood, it just disappears. Your dagger clatters to the stone floor loudly, skids a little and comes to a rest, spinning very slightly.
Do potions work differently to the spell? Or did Scupper just suddenly appear as the dagger left his hand? And if not did the dagger appear as it left his hand? Ahh D&D a rabbit hole full of rabbit holes ;)
I used stealth with Zorias guiding help (spell)... I stared at the rat so imI guessing it stared back at me... otherwise I'd say I'm still sneaking about fairly good...though i left a slowly spinning dagger behind
Check the north door for traps and open a little

Move inside and take a better look around. If there's potions to steal, I'll make quick work of that, but other doors and people are primary concerns.
"I wonder if Glasstaff can become a rat?"
He gives the rat a good stare.

If i can take the shot with a dagger throw?
Do I know anything about familiars or shapechanging?
If you want to try that, roll initiative. (Just you, not the whole party).
Edit: Make an Arcana check.
Arcana check 16
Initiative 7

"Got a bit o' cheese for ye wee feck..."
Reaching into his coat and throwing a dagger
Attack: 18 Damage: 5
Dario follows close behind Incantis and stands near him. He gets into position that gives everyone cover with his long bow.

"That's not gonna go well..."
Scupper double checks for other exits and then sneaks out back toward the stairs...

OOC...I didn't take the invisibility potion.

Do we hear the dagger clatter, or are we still blissfully unaware?
Gotchya. And don't worry, a slowly spinning dagger could mean anything... ;)
Like eXtreme sports "spin the bottle"?
When you're at a party and they bring out Spin The Dagger, you have stayed too long.
This has got to be Scuppers favorite party game.
"It landed on you..."
So that's what?
"Oh that's a stabbin', mate. I get ta stab ya."
“Don’t be a baby, now, it’s just a dagger!” Reminds me of a game we used to play with a staple gun.
