Varinth, you start to creep round the ledge at the side of the pit, but feel yourself losing your balance almost immediately. You step back, avoiding falling face first down into who knows what. However, you remain at the side you started.
Glasstaff snarls with anger. I'll gut you. I'll rip your eyes out. He manages to spray a fair amount of spittle onto Zoria, but he is unable to break free.
Group C is up. Dekhan, Incantis, Zoria and Dario (in any order). Also Scupper, but he's miles away.
Sorry if I created the impression I was going full non-lethal on him - I had used up my action and bonus to get there, so was trying to use an interaction to stop him misty stepping away. Forgot that taking out the water *was* my interaction so now I'm just a road block. Whack away!
On the bright side he appears to be out of misty steps.
Tobbence is probably right about the staff. Unless he has a famously fragile undercarriage, chances are he's named after his staff because it's the most dangerous thing about him. If that's his focus, it takes a lot of casting options away
So if I tried to wrestle the staff away from him, is that another grapple check, or would I have advantage on it because I'm already grappled. Or if someone else went first, would they have advantage because I'm grappling him.
There's a variant rule on disarming in the DMG that I'm happy to go with. Make an attack on Glasstaff, with disadvantage because he has (or can have if he wishes) both hands on the staff. It will be contested by his Athletics or Acrobatics. Note that this just causes him to drop the staff, and unless someone else picks it up or knocks it away, he can just pick it up at the start of his next turn.
This will, of course, immediately drop the grapple.
Just make the decision according to what you think Zoria would do. The others aren't in the room yet, apart from Strix - not much chance to confer... :)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Well Zoria thinks her chances of wrestling the staff away from him aren't that great and that maybe someone else would have a better chance of doing so.
Attack: Warhammer - Attack: 18 Damage: 18
Bonus Action: Wet Willy into the ear of the rude spellslinger.
Move: Zoria will move 20 feet closer to the pool after everyone else in group 3 has completed their turns.
I'm reading up on the rules for grappling. As I understand it, you need one hand free to maintain the grapple. So I assumed that you put your Warhammer away to make the grapple. You can't use your shield hand - it's a full action to drop a shield, unlike a weapon. You're a bit restricted unless you release the grapple, though you do have the extra option of a hooves attack. If you want to do that, I'll take the d20 from the attack above, just roll me damage.
Instead of attacking you could push prone. It works like a grapple (athletics Vs athletics/acro I think), but once he's down he can't get up while you grapple him (movement 0, due to grapple - getting up costs half movement) and it puts him at a disadvantage while everyone else attacks him with advantage, so he's toast. Feels like Zoria would trample the fecker though :)
I'm looking for secret drawers, I'll pick the lock if the chest is locked, look under the bed, read his diary and basically turn the room over looking for anything else related to the Black Spider or the Lost Mine but always keeping an ear out for those missing bugbears.
Good call. Can we make that roll an athletics roll to force him prone, either by going down with him or by pushing him off the staircase? Then I'll let everyone else have their WWE moment lol
Thanks bro! Zoria is definitely different than Asher, however, I think I'm having more fun with Zoria because she is nowhere close to a typical cleric lol whereas Asher was almost a stereotypical loner-style fighter, as badass as he was lol.
OOC: Perhaps just throw the bastard in the pit with me.
Come on Zoria!!! Grapple that rat bastard!

OOC: Would the gang around Glasstaff hear my shout?

All of the party except Scupper heard Vaz shout GET HIM AWAY FROM THAT FECKIN STAFF!!

Hmmmmm. What do you guys want to do? I can try to get the staff, but I'm not sure I'll be able to do it if I have disadvantage.

Dekhan and I both think you’re all doing a great job, in character and out, especially Squigs, sublime DMing, really, wonderful stuff.
now drop that rat looking ****er off the ledge and let Dekhan do a flying elbow drop, randy savage style.
