Scupper shakes his head...
As I said lads...ye may not want te stick around fer this. But I can bring him along after I'm done...send him in ahead te set the mood? I tink he'll still be able te walk..."
He eyes the orc and lets his meaning sink in
Is there a standard torture roll? I feel like Scupper's a professional but do I need to roll to keep him alive as I remove ears, nose, face, fingers, etc?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Vaz will lean back on Soodi and practice making a flame butterfly in one hand and taking slugs of his wineskin with the other. He will occasionally look up the road for other travelers etc
Strix stands, pausing for a moment on one leg with a raised arm, the bastard offspring of Ian Anderson and Mr Miyagi as he blasts out another devastating flute loop.
"Want mankels back. One piece. Spensive. No break." He pauses his frantic fingering of his bone flute long enough to give Scupper the key. "Oh, keep hands. Useful, like orc say. Use knuckles. Make dice. Play ludo!"
The shifter ambles after Soodi and doesn't look back.
Scupper, Kottok nods at you respectfully, seeming nervous but not terrified. Brughor has broken me before. All of us. To make us strong. As I say, he is a poet. Let’s see what you can do, small chief.
Vaz, there is no sign of any travellers on the road.
I wouldn't want to disappoint him now. Dekhan, I'm sure what we'll do today is a good ting and the lads are all ready te risk what we got fer the innocent. Brughor seems to have set a standing challenge to all comers, though, that his men can't be broke. Seems to me the innocent deserve to know if that's true. Bit of a message o' our own. Catch up with the others now and I'll be along shortly. Keep the light burning where it's needed lad.
Ok so not that this will be a frequent thing (it's upsetting) but Scupper does come from a background as torturer on a pirate ship. He hates orc raiders not for the idea of robbery but for the blind savagery that never seems to take into account the value lives can have. His crewmates in the past have certainly put innocents to the sword but he just knew these orcs were the type to play with their food...which is disgusting.
SO...he'd be after removing this fella's face while he's still alive...peeling it off then taking the nose and ears. Plastic Surgery Disasters tells me the face can come off in one piece. He's also planning on taking the thumbs and fingers (for Strix). But would this orc break? Would he die? Not sure. So this'd be about as 'dark' as Scupper gets. He'd want some personal piece of information that would let Brughor know this orc broke. If the orc breaks...but lives, he'd let him go free. If this guy decides to come after him someday...well that'd be a surprise but kinda fun.
A shining purple moon, illusory and shimmering, materializes in front of the flame butterfly. Incantis smiles slightly at Vaz. He eyes the interrORCation with curiosity. “The banshee, Scup, ask him about the banshee,” he whispers into Scupper’s head.

What follows is methodical and gruesome.
Scupper, Kottok is stronger, and lasts longer, than most you've worked with. But you and he both know that it's only a matter of time, and in the end he breaks. "Everyone breaks". You recall Captain al Shaddad once told you that himself when you were a new and inexperienced crewmember with a particularly stubborn victim; in his own inimitable way the words had been both an encouragement to persevere and a warning of the price you might pay for failure.
Kottok tells you everything he knows. You know the location of his tribe's cave; there will be one sentry outside, and inside, Brughor with six orcs and an ogre. It's likely that some orcs will flee if Brughor is killed. He knows nothing of any banshee.
The remains of Kottok lie still on the ground. You can see his chest rise and fall as he breathes, but otherwise you might think him a corpse. He has no eyes, no ears, no fingers or thumbs; the bloody stumps are clutched togther in front of him, though he has been healed a little by Zoria, who remained throughout. The manacles ceased to be necessary long ago, and you have retrieved them.
When the screams have ceased, Varinth will dismount Soodi and head back to the horror. With Scuppers permission he will end the orcs misery and burn the body.
Most might've left 'round about the eyes. New respect fer ya, lass. I suppose we should catch up with the others and let 'em know how helpful Kottok was.
He then turns to Kottok as Varinth approaches. He waves him off.
You done Brughor proud. You were a tough one. But sooner or later, everyone breaks. If ye manage te live, yer free te go. I'd take up farmin' if I was you. If I ever see ye again though, know that I didn't have to be finished today and I won't stop the next time yer under my knife...not for a long while.
You are in fact really good at this. That reads like a violent dark passage from a detective / serial killer novel.
Zoria kneels to the halfling. "Mount me, and I will race away from this durable orc and we shall rejoin our comrades." On the ride to the others. "You seem to know your way around a knife, in a way most aren't. I guess it's a good thing we're on the same side, but uh, just so you know," Zoria looks back at Scupper. "The trick with me is just give me a little coin and I'll tell you anything you want to know! We can just avoid the whole knife stabby-cut dance number. Deal?"
As they head back Scupper turns an eye to Varinth.
Ah Vaz, Don't think me more cruel by not killin' him. The bastard's tough. He might jest live. Likely wouldn't want me to kill him after he's spent so much time tryin' to hang on...and he'll be a warning to any other raiders in the area dead or alive. Live cruel...die cruel. I've got no misconceptions about my end when it comes.

Scupper, make an intimidation check.

I don’t know if there’s much more for this one to tell us, Scup.

As Zoria walks away from Scupper, she leans over to Vaz. "That little one has quite a mean and dark side doesn't he? It's a little frightening."

Dekhan nods. Alright, Scup, we’ll scout ahead. He regards the orc for a moment, claps Scupper on the shoulder and walks away.

OOC: Lol Scupper is citing his sources with Plastic Surgery Disasters 😂 I love it.
Zoria is able to stay behind for healing purposes, if only to make Scupper's dreams a reality.

Tell us what ye know, now. And speak up if ye know a banshee. And don't you worry, I'll hear through the screams.

Without a word.
Zoria holds back vomit during the scene and when she does apply her healing, she does so by looking at Kottok as least as physically possible.
