Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. When I say it will take time, I mean like a day or more. Scupper would have to split completely off from the party for the rest of today.
Incantis grins at Dekhan's question. "Unless they somehow took her to another plane..."He briefly wargs to check in.
I figure Zhudala would have posted up as a sentry for the past day or so, basically scuttling back and forth between the basement, first floor, and outside while contacting Incantis if anything comes up or is noticed.

Dekhan laughs heartily at Incantis' response but grows serious for a moment afterwards. By the light, I hope not, that would be the last thing we need; an interplaner birdnapping. Upon arrival at the tavern Dekhan will enter the Broken Lance, take a look around the common room, and head over to the bar. When he gets the bartender's attention he will say with a smile Alright, landlord, what's the good word? I'll have a small ale for myself and whatever my friends are drinking. He places a gold piece on the bar followed by another one as he leans in a bit And information on anything interesting that has transpired of late would be most welcome. He taps the second gold piece as he smiles at the bartender again.

So Zhudala will take no action when the four men leave the basement?
The Broken Lance is relatively quiet in the late afternoon, though the evening's festivities will not be long now. There are two people working on the bar, both halflings who call a friendly welcome when you all enter, but otherwise get on with their work. There is one other patron at the bar, a gnome woman nursing an ale and engaged in a conversation with one of the bartenders.
Ah, well, see, responds the bartender, we don't charge for information round here. You look like the adventurous type, and we're glad of your custom, so ask away. As to what's going on these days, you'll have to be a wee bit more specific. Tis a big city, you know. What are your areas of interest?
Let me know what everyone is drinking, so I can calculate Dekhan's change. :)
Yeah Zhudala would definitely up and follow. "Word from the bird, friends. Four men are leaving the 'abandoned' building, from the basement where Zhudala couldn't find entrance."

(So, that was 30 minutes ago at least that Zhudala alerted you. In the intervening time, she has followed the men as they walked through the city, and they are headed east into the North Ward. They haven't interacted with anyone that Zhudala has noticed.)
"Looks like they're headed into North Ward fellows, ought we follow, or take an opportunity to look at the building?"Damn I should have had Zhudie take a second look downstairs, too late now...

The bartender does indeed have a selection of foreign wines, and offers one from Cormyr, She frowns at Dekhan's gold offering and says: It's two gold for the glass, I'm afraid. Will your friend be paying?
Strix asks for a water. Then compare the colour of the water to the colour of his companions' ale and frown a little. Then think maybe it might be safer to drink the ale, and orders again.
Strix is a friend! Strix has gold! Delighted to have something that falls inside his skillset, he digs excitedly into his coin purse and pulls out a handful of gold, trying to flick 2 of them onto the bar.
Strix, the two gold land in a perfect stack right in front of the bartender - and from quite a distance. She looks at you. Nice trick. And takes the gold.
You have an ale and a water which you may consume separately or mixed.
"Thank you Strix,"Incantis murmurs. "I had every intention of buying this myself, your next round's on me." He sips the Cormish wine with a sigh of satisfaction. "Glad there's other peoples who know how to age this stuff."
"I think now is the time for decisiveness. Four men are absent from the supposed hideout, but there's no chance by the stars that's all of them. That having been said, I propose we follow these men and see what they're up to, trying not to interfere unless necessary to protect people. Then, when they return to base we can follow them in and see where the secret entrance lies."

So let's say he starts that but will of course make sure to meet the team at the broken lance.

I figured it would take more than a day. I was talking about laying groundwork but I'll wait and say he'd do that tonight instead.
On to the hideout.

There are certainly enough tables and other spaces in the tavern for you to find a chance to talk to Scupper alone, if you wish.
Zhudala continues to monitor and tail the four men as they proceed. Please make a Stealth check for Zhudala, with advantage.
Was more inquiring as to whether Scupper would let such a moment arise.

Varinth will get a beer. He will ask the bartender casually as he leans on the bar.
