Hobgoblin 2 is resting and therefore prone so that roll is at disadvantage; second d20 is 4
Varinth, your fire bolt fizzles as you release it and only goes a few feet before disappearing.
B: Hobgoblins
Hobgoblin 1 barks something loud and aggressive in the goblin language; you can tell he's angry, but it's not clear if he's frightened or not.
He makes his attack on Dekhan:
Attack: 23 Damage: 14
He uses his 'martial advantage' feature to do an extra 2d6 damage because Dekhan is also near Hobgoblin 4: 9
That's a total of 23 damage from a single sword strike. Dekhan, you feel the blade plunge into you, and withdraw with a clean, practised action; these are highly trained and deadly foes. Then you feel a pain stab your chest; the blow was better aimed that you thought; darkness takes you as you fall unconscious.
Hobgoblin 4 speaks in common: Fools, come to die. He moves forward to attack Strix:
Attack: 5 Damage: 5
However, his cockiness gets the better of him, and the slash goes wide. Hobgoblin 1 barks something at him in goblin that sounds like a reprimand.
Hobgoblin 2 stands from prone, and makes his own attack on Sildar, longsword flashing and just catching a ray of sun as it comes through a crack in the ceiling:
Attack: 22 Damage: 3
He also uses martial advantage to deal an extra 8, for a total of 11 points on the fighter. Sildar grunts, clearly in a lot of pain.
C: Scupper is up. Dekhan is unconscious, and Hobgoblin 4 has moved and is standing above him.
Scupper, your arrow thuds into the cot and sticks, wobbling slightly. The hobgoblin laughs at you, and speaks in common. I'll flay you and wipe my arse with your skin, rat.
D: Sildar
Sildar, badly wounded and surrounded, roars his anger: Die, beasts. He makes his attacks against Hobgoblin 1, who appears most badly wounded:
Attack: 15 Damage: 8 Attack: 18 Damage: 6
The first attack misses, the second hits, and hits hard. The hobgoblin, who seems to be the leader, takes the sword through his neck and collapses, gurgling and clearly attempting to speak. His cocky friend looks less cocky as a result, but still intent on doing you harm.
E: Dekhan, Incantis and Strix are up. Dekhan, please make a death saving throw. Hobgoblins 2 and 4 are still up; 2 is wounded, 4 is untouched.
Incantis grits his teeth as the hobgoblin he had just hexed mortally wounds his holy ally. "That's quite enough out of you I think."
He raises both his hands to his necklace, one grasping his arcane orb while the other performs a series of fingerings on his flute. The hand grasping the orb crackles with energy as the bardlock shoots out an eldritch blast. He then invokes a healing word onto Dekhan.
Eldritch blast: Attack: 7 Damage: 8
Healing Word: 5

Incantis, half-elf warlock (great old one) 4/bard 1 ● Thorok Earthhand, hill dwarf mountain druid 6/grave cleric 2
Cragmyre Ironseed, earth genasi ancestral barbarian 3 ● Cyrus Natriallae, aquatic half-elf warlock of the deep 3
Incantis, the hobgoblin is just able to dodge out of the way, and your blast hits the masonry.
Dekhan, you come back to consciousness, knowing that barely two seconds have passed, but feeling agony in your body as your wounds partially, but only partially heal. You are prone, looking straight up at a hobgoblin standing above you and engaged in combat with your friends.
Round Three
A: Varinth B: Hobgoblins 2 and 4. C: Scupper D: Sildar E: Dekhan, Incantis and Strix
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: Should Vaz be at the doorway?
Seeing Dekhan take such a devastating hit, Varinth pulls a diamond out of his sash. Holding the diamond in one hand and pointing his staff with the other he levels his spell at the offending beast (Hob 4).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Varinth, your spell fires and the sphere speeds towards its target, but the hobgoblin ducks, his eyes raised in alarm as the magical ball zooms past his head to disperse harmlessly against the wall. He stands, and says something in goblin that sounds like a curse.
B: Hobgoblins 2 and 4
Hobgoblin 4 steps to the side as Dekhan stands, unsure where to direct his attacks, and settling on Strix; it seems your patient defense stance has got his attention for some reason:
Attack: 5 Damage: 9
Strix's hands seem to blur as he doesn't dodge so much as use his hands to parry, knocking the hobgoblin's sword off path as it swings in. The attack fails, but Hobgoblin 2 decides to follow his fellow in attacking Strix:
Attack: 7 Damage: 8
Strix's hands now seem to be moving faster that you can see; the second attack is also knocked away.
Varinth, you feel a sudden surge of energy overtake you. Lightning crackles from your fingers, your bright red hair stands on end. You feel more alive than you ever have, filled with magic and power. You know you need to discharge the energy immediately, before it consumes you.
Choose up to three creatures within 30 feet of you, and roll 4d10 for the lightning damage they take.
Got it. 😀👍
Varinth goes to the doorway and casts a [Tooltip Not Found] at beastie number 2. 20 Damage: 8

Bonus : patient defence (1ki)
Strix, Shifter Shadow Monk in Lost Mines of Phandelver ¦ Sihegiall Human Soulknife Rogue in In Search of Molly McGuffin
Strix, your attack doesn't connect. The hobgoblin seems to be focusing on his next move, but frowns at what you say.
Incantis is up.

Please roll a d100. :)
Wow my first d100...

The two Hobgoblins, of course.
Damage: 21
It's a lethal amount of damage, so please describe how your lightning power kills both hobgoblins.
Incantis’ scalp tingles with energy and he looks with awe at Varinth.
