OOC: Well, that's better! So that critical hit doubles the original d8 of the damage roll, which I think was an 8? So that's 17 damage? Is that how that works? (check my earlier damage roll, as I'm on my phone and can't see the dice roll breakdown. 

Ok, so Zarbof charging in sink a bolt into the Alpha for 6 dmg

Belailuin releases a choas bolt that hits the alpha at almost the same time causing 10 dmg

Before the Alpha has even realized what's happening Thorums arrow sinks into it's eye KILLING IT!

OOC: Mysti give me a quick investigation check

Wormsquirt you seeing the alpha gnoll drop quickly target one of the gnolls nearby the fallen alpha and release your arrow. It sinks in for 10 dmg (This gnoll will now be G1)

Ok, You just choose a random injured looking gnoll and hit it for 11 dmg (this ones going to be G2 now)

ooc: Didn't see that was a crit Zarbof! Nice! Yes, that changes a couple things. The alpha would have dropped sooner and Thorum would have targeted another gnoll. I will move that damage to a different gnoll. who will become G3. Thanks for the catch on that!

Ooc: Sorry, but are we in initiative right now?

OOC: was kind of a surprise round, don't think initiative kicked in yet

ooc: Not in initiative yet. We are about to be though. What would you like to do Roger before we get into initiative?

Roger advances 30 feet and fires his crossbow at G3, who Thorum already attacked. Before I roll, we have advantage from surprise, correct?  Ok.

Attack: 15 Damage: 5

No, only Zarbof did as the first attack. The gnolls were aware of being attacked after that.

Roger closing the distance shoots at the gnolls but misses.

ooc: After this encounter I'm going to start rolling initiatives for the group and then giving the attack order. It will help speed things up.

OOC: That's fine with me.  Is there going to be another map for this encounter so we have an idea of where things are?  (I really liked having the map last time)

OOC: Yup, I'm working on the whiteboard today. It's going a little slow though because my pipes froze again last night. It was -15 this morning so I keep having to go down to the basement and move the heaters around. Fun, fun!

OOC: I think it will speed things up too. Stay warm, I'm in Michigan. It's been a long time since we've seen temps this low.
