".. is the ugly thing gone?" Asphodel calls to the others. He pokes his head out from behind the tree, hearing the Allosaurus retreat. He begins making his way back to join the others.
The grisly sight before her was not worse than things Kathleen had seen. This wasn't something good though. She fell to her knees and held her head with both hands. She knew what to expect but it didn't make it any easier. She begins shaking and muttering, "No no no..." repeatedly as fear, panic, frustration and despair seized her. Her heart beat fast and her breathing became rapid and unsteady.
Yeah, Kathleen is having a panic attack right now.
When Asphodel gets back with the others the first thing he notices is the half eaten man. He approaches what's left of the prisoner, he stares down at him. Eyes wide, he cups his mouth with his hands. A sudden wave of nausea passes through his body, harboring in his throat. The second thing he notices is Kathleen. He gets down on his knee in front of her, and, as if by instinct he reaches to hold both her hands. His heart is beating but the sight of her is something he had seen many times among his sisters.
"Hey - beanstalk, sweetheart, I want you to look at me, okay? Focus on my words and look at me." He calls out to her gently. Though his voice wavering, he stares her in the eye, trying to ground her.
Kathleen looks up at Asphodel, eyes wide in fear and sadness. The intensity of the emotion reflected in her eyes is far more than what is to be expected from an average adventurer who experienced what Kath did just now.
He gently holds her hands and continues to look at her, coaching her whenever her eyes trail elsewhere. Despite him trying to comfort her, he realizes part way through that he needs someone there too as this sight has deeply disturbed him. “It'll be okay, but we need to get you away from this so you can breathe. Together, we're going to slowly stand, I'm going to turn you around and we're going to walk over behind a tree where you don't need to see this anymore. We'll do it together so you're not alone, okay? Just listen to my voice and let me guide you.” He talks as calmly as he can muster, trying to sooth her, as if speaking to a very scared animal. The more he talks, the more he finds he's mimicking his elders. "You ready beanstalk?" He searches her expression patiently, shoving the fact there's a gore filled sight behind him.
Kath has a glazed look about her and slowly walks with Asphodel. Her expression doesn't change much though. After she is settled behind a tree, her panic persists for a while. It soon starts to be replaced with despair and sadness.
Once she's safe, Asphodel reassures her it'll be okay. "I'll be back in a moment. Just catch your breath. " The moment the words leave his lips, the glimpse of the corpse in his peripheral vision comes back.
“I'm gonna -” with those urgent words he speed walks behind a bush and passes up, hoping no one can see him. He holds his hair, trying to keep it from getting in the mess.
Jason groans as he picks himself up from where he was tossed, "That hurt." Glancing over at what remained of Barossa, he grimaces a bit, letting out a sigh, "Bleeding hells, that's not a pretty way to go." Noticing Kath, he thinks it best to give her some space, but does go over to Barossa's body and kneels before it.
Closing his eyes and mummering a small prayer for the man, Jason can't help but think how far from the sea they were. "Sorry yah bastard. You seemed like the good sort, hope you're happy where ever you end up." After paying his respects, Jason starts checking Barossa's pockets, hoping to find some extra clues that could help them now that they lost their guide/hostage.
He comes back out, having gathered himself. He takes a drink of water from his canteen, “I can handle a lot of things but that? It'll take some getting used too. Ugh, nothing compares to this dreadful look on me.” he says miserably, once again pulling leaves from out of his vibrant locks after just shoving his face in a bush. He takes a deep breath in and goes to sit beside Kath. He leans his back against the tree.
"You gonna be okay?" He asks. He leans over to look at the others, noticing there's no other casualties. He closes his eyes and turns back around to face forward and away from the scene.
Ria looks at the body for a moment, then closes her eyes and practices her breathing exercises. After a moment, she opens them and shoots a look around camp. "Great," she mutters, shooting Trinity a slightly strange look before sighing and flopping down on a log.
Kathleen's panic has subsided a bit. She is crying silently. She has a glazed expression on her face and she looks around as if she has no idea where she is and how she got there. By the time Asphodel returns and sits beside her, Kath seems to have calmed down a lot. She rubs her tears away and nods. She puts on a weak smile assuring Asphodel that she'll be fine. She stands up and looks around, the corpse catching her eye again. This time, Kath just grimaces a bit but doesn't lose her cool. Weakly, she says (to Asphodel), "Thanks."

Jason, not finding much of use in their guides pockets, offers one last prayer to the poor soul, before sighing and standing up. Looking towards everyone, he runs a hand through his hair, allowing the recent collection of water to stream in between his fingers and unto the ground. With a slight limp, he trudges over to the tree shelter he had carved out earlier and tells everyone, "We best get me some rest, its bound to be a long day tomorrow."
(He's gonna rest, if no one takes guard, he'll at least take the first shift)
((Asphodel will take second watch. He'll gossip quietly to whoever he's with, sing quietly, even at one point dance around the fire for some fun after being bored of sitting for so long. I dunno who wants to rp that sooo lolol. He'd at least attempt to get some answers on what their lives are like, funny past stories and crushes they've all had, even share some of his own.))
Asphodel, having come back to Kathleen, winks at her and smiles. "Anytime Beanstalk. Just try not to let it get to you. Stress is bad for your complexion you know. Crying definitely isn't anyone's good look."
(Ria will take first watch with Jason if he's okay with that and we're doubling on watches. She'll stay quiet during watch, occasionally prestidigitating herself dry)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Jason leans up against his shelter as everyone falls asleep, and slowly begins to hum a tune as he stares off into the water soaked canopy.
(This one's for you Nest XD) Performance: 12
Due to his lack of energy and injuries, he can't quite get it to where he wants, but it still relaxes him none the less, bringing back memories of home, his old crew and his family.
In a low, tired voice his voice echoes out from his shelter, merging with the rain and natural sounds of the night, "...Come now sail away with me now~ What do you say?~ We both know where we've been and we won't go back there again~"
Asphodel will likely meditate close to the fire, listening in on Jason's song and trying to remember it for later. He had fallen in love with the music, going as far as to add a lower hum every now and then for more depth. He hugs his knees, watching the fire burn. He pokes at it with some sticks before drifting off into deep thought. Closing his eyes, he remembers how grateful for light he is.
The night seems to soak up the water, humid, but the dampness seems easier to manage as the darkness reveals no bigger threat then the occasional bat flying by the fire light to catch the moths. Only the illuminating fungi seem to cast light like stars.
[2nd Watch]
Time seems to drift lazily by and ever slowly for the couple staying up for their shift. At one point a roar could be heard deep in the woods, but it’s nightmarish teeth only seemed to haunt their sleep deprived minds. Gratefully, the First Light peaks into the jungle, making the droplets on drying foliage glitter like jewels. A full rest fills them with new found energy and, besides the sore and tender places on Trinity and Jason, they all seem ready to go.
The fire smolders slowly, and Trinity’s conscience seems to rage over something, but his eyes hadn’t opened yet. It was only when he did that he noticed several compies (Compsognathus) scavenging the left over body, along with commonly large centepedes.

Kathleen had taken up the 2nd watch. Partly to make sure nothing else had happened but mostly to try to calm her down and come to terms with things. It wasn't really her thing but she spent a lot of time the previous night in Trance (both during first watch and when Trinity had a handle on things in the 2nd watch). She opened her eyes at the morning light, squinting as her vision adjusted. She feels a sour taste in her mouth as recent events haven't been kind to her body and absolute murder on her psyche. She has regained her composure though... at least for now.

"Hmh. Shame he died," he grunts "Nothing can be done now, though."
"Yes, Also A Bloody Shame We Couldn't Kill The Damn Thing That Did It!"
"yes a shame. now we-i took quit the beating back there is there a healer?"
