OOC - Just wanted to apologize to the group for going so silent. Just got married and about to go on the honeymoon so things have been a bit crazy. Probably going to be hit or miss how often I get a chance to post over the next little bit so it is understandable if Lil gets pushed to the back.
Alesandair, you're up. Silv'ar will be following your lead.
You stand, once again flanked on either side by comrades in arms. This won't be your first round of guerrilla warfare, but you struggle to keep those memories in that gruesome internal coffin, not again, and not this time.
(Apologies for the delay.... Definitely a long day.)
First, those at the camp suddenly see Morn getting agitated, "Not again...I can't let it happen again...," and then he charges easterly toward the others.
As Alesandair moves forward flanked by Silv'ar, but leaving Ayra behind, you all hear small movements, a leaf floats to the ground here, a twigs snaps somewhere in the dark of the woods but even your straining eyes and ears can't seem to identify the source by the light of the shield. Then suddenly, Alesandair, a large shadow swoops down on you. Make a DEXTERITY S.T. (and your attack roll just in case you succeed).
AGOZUR, you see the lightly tanned female torso covered by burlap rags and grey fibrous wings descend suddenly from a nearby branch. Because the creature was hiding so well (Stealth 21), Go ahead and make your attack towers the Harpy, but with disadvantage.
A moment later another creature less adeptly rushes out of a nearby bush, and towering over the tiny halfling, the furred Bugbear pulls down forcefully on his upraised crafted wooden branch, swinging it toward the half pint member of the party like a professional wrestler playing croquet. Attack: 15 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
Disoriented slightly by the winged woman's attack and spending more time looking forward than up, Alesandair struggles to lift his weapon to an appropriate height to be able to strike as the creature uses it's claws and weight to knock him to the ground and then follow up by raising her club, a gnarled tree branch with this comes wrapped and tied off around the grip. Attack: 20 Damage: 5 .
As Alesandair falls, Silv'ar stands in shock as the Harpy descends on his companion, but then notices the furry creature's club and manages to sidestep the attack. At the same time, he levels the iron head of Al's mace at the creature's left knee. Attack: 22 Damage: 4
Agozur, as you release your arrow at the Harpy, you and Wraeven also notice another large shadow crashing through the forest toward the melee. Ayra, still slightly winded from her running, watches with horror as these creatures descend on her new friends.
Wraeven you're up. Agozur you still get your attack.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Wraeven
"Try to keep your distance..." he tells Ayra as he is maintaining his distance from the melee. He sends a bolt of shadowfell eldritch blast at the bugbear Silvar just hit in the knee.
attack 14
damage 4
rolling poorly -- saving inspiration die. damage would have been 1.
Wraeven, your blast drives through the air, an invisible energy force pushing toward the target. As you prepared your aim, you got nervous about accidentally hitting Silv'ar and aim a little high. You watch as the force ripples through the air invisibly, just barely striking the Bugbear on the edge of his shoulder. He growls, less in pain and more in anger, by your reckoning.
Mobya politely accepts the Merchant’s milk offer for the babies, who seem to eat and drink anything that is handed to them. They haven’t slept much tonight and one could tell they’re tired by their yawning and eye-rubbing. She hears the noise coming from the forest where the fighting is happening and can’t help but worry about her friends’ welfare. She is, however, in the middle of cleaning and feeding the younglings, and can’t think of how else to help them other than to cure any wounds they might have when they return. Due to the tension and immediate risk for everyone, including those at the camp, she tries to tend to the babies as fast as she can so they can be safely and quickly placed back in the basket for their own protection.
”Lil, maybe a little song would help put them back to sleep?”

When you say his name, Lil will snap out of his revery watching the unseen servant run perimeter of the camp, and pull out his pan flute, using the beginning of a moderately paced, lilting tune to cause a ghostly hand to appear by the fire, pick up one of the larger flaming brands and lift it about 25 feet in the air and cause it to gently rotate shedding a bit more light on the upper parts of the trees.
Meanwhile, the crackling of Wraeven's blast fades, and Lil's song floats quietly toward those clanging about in combat. As the Harpy realizes it isn't just the three in the light (because Agozur and Wraeven are now in shadows, those nearby hear the Harpy yell, "Oy, yeh coward git out 'ere end 'elp, c'mon yeh lump. Ay den't care ef ye gotsa 'alf dozen o' dem daggers en ye." She then hits her club against a tree nearby, and another Bugbear peaks out from behind a tree with one of Silv'ar's daggers in his leg and another in his shoulder. Flapping her wings slightly, she attempts to pin Alesandair down with her claws ( 8 Grapple Strength check against your Strength or Dexterity check Alesandair).
The winged lady will then swing her club at Silv'ar while trying to pin Al for her timid and clearly wounded minion. Attack: 17 Damage: 2 (I rolled a percentile die to decide if she would go for Al \|/50 or Silv'ar/|\50 with her second attack 58).
Wagons+0 ft........Wraeven&Agozur +90ft.......Ayra +120ft....... Alesandair/Silv'ar +140 ft (One pinned and the other dancing like he is in a Missy Elliot Video)...trying to avoid clubbing... ;)
