"Also - it seems those being taken are conscripted into some sort of 'workforce'. If you are unaware what this is - might you have heard whispers amongst your peers of any large scale plans?"
Nimbus listens to Ackam and smiles. We didn’t suspect the drow, per se, but we do believe whoever is behind these kidnappings is making use of the Eldermade tunnels beneath the city, so deep dwelling drow being involved seems reasonable, especially when you consider their attitudes towards the enslaving of surface dwellers. Let me tell you something about the Thirteen, we have what you would call a symbiotic relationship with this city. It’s in our best interest to keep it healthy and thriving, you follow? Kidnapping people and terrifying the populace isn’t exactly in our best interest.
Using Guidance while clearing his throat, Varris interjects:
You are looking at the correct strings Ackam... a follow-up or two, if I may. Nimbus, what made you believe that the Drow were involved in the disappearances? During our encounter with four of them in the arena, they mentioned Hobgoblins and a Bugbear as their property. Are they involved in these more... unsavory businesses?
If so, would you happen to know where these transactions might be occurring? I think we might be, dare I say, interested in paying this facility a visit....(Persuasion)

Nimbus listens to Varris and cracks a knowing grin, he winks at him I don’t know what it is, but I like you guys. We have an idea, we’ve been tracking this for a while now. Our best people have traced them back almost to the Palace of the Twelve. Now, the tunnels we use beneath the city are well hidden and known only to members of the Thirteen but they’re of modern make, only stone and cleverness. The Eldermade tunnels? They’re a different story. Impenetrable to our methods. The only direct point of access we know of lies beneath the palace of the Twelve. It’s security is why they put their dungeon down there. No one has ever escaped from those cells. Well, almost no one...
Drow and goblins working together? Not so much. Goblins working for drow? That’s a familiar tune. Investment smacks of enslavement.

Rumors of rumors only. The small pieces of information we gather when put together paint a picture of something large going on beneath the city. The tunnels aren’t the only thing of Eldermake beneath Olber, there are stories of wonders locked below. Things of great power lost to the tide of times. Unfortunately that’s as much as we know at present.
Aedra rolls her eyes at the scene caused by Ackam’s drunkenness as she follows Agency towards the back.Smiling and shaking her head at her newest snarky comment. With the tail comes extra personality?Maybe Ackam’s hiding a tail…she laughs and then snaps herself back to reality. There’s a mystery afoot. She’s a sucker for mysteries.
Aedra makes a note of Nimbus’s extreme comfort in this situation. It makes her slightly uncomfortable.Silently absorbing as many details of the conversation as she can, her ears perk up slightly at the words “stories of wonders” and “things of great power.” Can you think of anyone who might have more knowledge on the history of the tunnels?Any arcana experts or resources around? We might be able to find some clue as to what we’re dealing with here.
"Aen wha' material are thesee 'Eldermade toonnels' wrought out o'?" Earthhand says as he cracks a druidy grin.
Simply put, we don’t know. The Mages claim it’s a lost school of creation magic, the guild of science believe it to be clever manipulation of alloys, the Alchemists that’s it’s some type of resin. The smart money says it’s a combination of all that and more. Whatever it is, it’s beyond our ken to create, shape, or destroy. Gods know we’ve tried.

Aye, there is one man, the same who escaped the Twelve’s prison, Daklow Wachelt. He made his way out 20 some odd years ago, popped in for a drink at the Salt Spray then was never seen again. He had style old Daklow.
Ackam makes a mental note of this Daklow Wachelt character. He leans against the wall of the courtyard and crosses his arms. "Aye, Mista Nimbus, one last question from me. Is dere a Hall o' Records of some sort in Olber that maybe hold some older maps of dis city?"Ackam turns to his crew,"maybe wit da maps we can draw up an idea of what lies beneath us."Ackam then directs his attention back at Nimbus.
Nimbus’ face cracks into a conspiratorial smile. But wouldn’t you rather speak to the man who walked the tunnels to his freedom? You’re in luck, because after some diligent searching, painstaking research, and enough dumb luck to fell an empire, I managed to find the weasely old bastard. And if you do something for me, all tell you where he is.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Taking a few moments to think and chant, Varris clasps his hands together and reapplies Guidance.
Varris smiles amusingly at the Tabaxi's implication. Well, I don't doubt that he is a very interesting man, but there are a lot of very interesting people in this ancient city, wouldn't you say? Count me intrigued at the very least. If you were to have some sort of proof or a show of good faith, if I may, in regards to Daklow's knowledge and even continued existence, then what you suggest sounds reasonable. This, of course, assumes this favor is not too liberally described as such... (Persuasion)
Not far from here lies the ruins of an ancient temple, within that temple resides an awful brute, half man, half slightly larger man... yes! The fabled Manotor! Nimbus falls into hysterical laughter at his own joke. Oh gods, you adventuring types. Ahhh hahaha, sorry, I couldn’t resist. Seriously, though, these bastards are attacking my city. Of course I want this matter cleared up as quickly as possible. You can find him at Bolan’s Rest, a small fishing village two days sail from here for one of the local wrecks. I happen to have a friend in harbor who owes me a favor, I was going to head over there myself, but this drow involvement leads me to believe I’d be better made use of here. If you wish to take me up on this generous offer, meet me at the docks just before this dawn. You can sleep on the boat, the Gull’s wing is not one of the local wrecks and will have you there tomorrow night. You can sleep on the boat, she’s almost as smooth as she is quick.
Here is where I will put a summery of what happened last night! I've updated your exp, and I will let you know what you got from that last encounter in a minute!
Nimbus stands up in the boat and dusts himself off. I’m going to give you that one, steelshanks, for the cat you miss. Now if you’d care to continue like civilized people, we can discuss what just happened and what we’re doing next. I’d rather not join you on the trip to Bolan’s Rest as I have things to attend to here in Olber. I do understand your concern about the attack we just survived. But I assure I was as surprised as you. Whoever is behind this must be desperate to send an ogre this close to the city walls.
Ackam tries to wipe the bits of brains and balls from the last enemy he dimidiated with his double-bladed scimitar while he listens to Nimbus defend himself, but instead he just ends up smearing brains and balls bits on his ripped trousers. "Eh,"he says to himself looking at his mess, "might not be such a bad look."
Ackam sheaves his scimitar by the time Nimbus finished speaking and says, "who do ya tink could have been behind dat Ogre and his friends?"
"A glerious battle friends!" Thorok exclaims. "If yer hunch is true Nimbus thesee Droo aen their gobshite greenskin servants haed better take heed o' teh thumpin's we've given 'em!"Earthhand peers at Nimbus and then around the party. "Seemsee a roit shame yer man went down, cin any o' yeh steer a ship?
