Storm King's Thunder + Against the Giants

Erakas pats Nalla on the shoulder "For all their talent working rock and metal, I too dislike the smaller spaces of the Dwarven empires, with some luck we'll warn the Dwarves of Citadel Adbar about the assassination plot and be back in Ironslag hunting giants within the day!"

As the adventurers go through the hillsides, they are approached by the Citadel Adbar's guard within an hour. Soon, the party is accompanied in the Citadel.

From the surface, Citadel Adbar looks less like a castle or a human city than a mountain carved to suit the purposes of the dwarves who live there. The two great towers that stand uppermost are ringed with vicious dragonspikes to keep large creatures from landing to attack the structures directly. The great chimney of the city’s central foundry stands between them, belching smoke like a volcano about to erupt. Ringing the citadel is a host of platforms, battlements, and arrow slits from where defenders can fire crossbows at anyone foolish enough to attack the city. A great drawbridge allows no one to enter the dwarven enclave except patrols and honoured guests, such as yourself.

After an intricate network of tunnels and caverns, they party is taken in a garrison near the city entrance. The city here resembles Gauntlgrym, but the layout is much more disorganized. Stone buildings are everywhere and make the city appears like a maze. At the garrison, three well-dressed dwarves greet the party. " We welcome you in Citadel Adbar. I am Orsik, warden of the Gate. It is my understanding that you have some concerns about our king's well-being. Do you mind to elaborate?"

"Yes, we do believe some yak-folk are impersonating either elves or dwarves and plan to assassinate your King. We are Ordo Ursa. We have assisted the elves of the Moonwood, we have slain Giants subjugating free folk and monsters, we are the heroes of the Ten Towns and we are on a mission for KinG Bruenor himself to retrieve Maegera the Fire Titan. Please, your King is in danger."

"We are Ordo Ursa, recently returned from Ironslag where we defeated the yakari chieftain Kartha-Kaya and his clan and release their slaves.  Among them were a pair of elves from the Moonwood who spoke of a group of Dwarves that were captured that the yakfolk crawled under their skin to assume their identities in order to infiltrate Citadel Adbar and assassinate King Harnoth.  After returning the elves to Moonwood, Innovindil used some elven magic to transport us through a tree to the steps of your Citadel so we may warn you of the threat."

(OOC - ninja'd because I talk a lot when I type apparently :P )

"Yeah...what he said...."

The well-dressed dwarf seems not impressed the heroes' allegeable deeds. " And how do you know all this? Forgive me, but why should we believe strangers and, doing so, putting the King in the real danger?"

"Believe us....don't believe us.....makes no difference as we've got bigger concerns to handle for the giants are running amok and must be dealt with.  We did what we set out to do, inform you of the plot to assassinate your king, what you do with the information is up to you, just know that if King Harnoth is assassinated, and you did nothing to stop it, and King Bruenor hears of this, you'll have bigger problems than us to be concerned with."  Erakas kinda glares at the Dwarf and wiggles his head back and forth which makes it look like a fuzzy polar worm is passing judgement on the warden of the gate.

"We will be informing King Bruenor of the threat as well."

(OOG Ohhhh!!! Good going, Argent... that's some fine ****-you-ery to this gate guard...lol :P  ) 

Now the dwarves are really impressed. They step backwards, fearing the mighty blade could hurt them (or ruins their clothes). " Oh I see. Very well." He then listens to the Dragonborn words and seems convinced. The three then confer with each other. When they finish, they explain what they have to propose: " We can arrange a meeting with the king in few hours. You can spend some time here in the city, but you can't go in the lower levels and in the Forge. I'll send a patrol to summon you."

(OOC - odds of buying magical items here? )

After a walk to the market, you can assess that Citadel Adbar has no magic items for sale.
