Ok, that's a successful animal handling check. Please keep track of how many successes you have.
With your ear to the door, you detect moaning from (you think) nearby and up the stairs. Not moaning like a haunting ghost, more like moaning from someone crying for something lost.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Barnaby will grumble for a while about how it makes no sense not to make sure that the house is clear before resting. But, not wanting to get into another argument over the wisdom of pressing on, he will look for help pushing furniture in front of the door.
Barnaby will take time in the evening to study the robes he found in the room of vomit and mind control.
As the house creaks and groans around Barnaby, he bends low over the mysterious thick scarlet robe. With some study and some trying it on he becomes attuned to it, and realizes what it is: a +1 Robe of Fire Resistance.
The remainder of the night passes uneventfully and the poison passes its way out of your system. Congratulations! You have survived my Disgusting Feast trap. :)
Barnaby beams at Kifs compliment. He is spending some time straightening the robe on his small frame and moving his spell components into all the pockets hidden throughout. The robe is black with bright red satin flames around the cuffs and hem.
You make your way up to the second floor. There are no windows in this large room, so it is fairly dark, though it is dawn outside.
Unlit oil lamps are mounted on the walls of this elegant hall. Hanging above the mantelpiece is a wood-framed portrait of the family, though at this distance you can see no more than the existence of a family portrait. As you climb the staircase you observe a tapestry with the silhouette of a windmill hanging against the wall.
Standing suits of armor flank wooden doors in the east and west walls. Each suit of armor clutches a spear and has a visored helm shaped like a wolf’s head. The doors are carved with dancing youths.
The red marble staircase that started on the first floor continues its upward spiral. A cold draft can be felt coming down the steps.
You can climb the staircase, or enter this upper hall and examine it (and the doors leading from it) more closely.

Morning animal handling training Revenge, who Føpé keeps in the room, cleans up after, and feeds: 25
Føpé returns Kiff's sharpening stone, since for the time being at least, he'll use what free moments he has work with Revenge.

He will take second watch. Perception: 6

Nothing else of interest happens during his watch.
Robe on!
So...+1 to AC and I have fire resistance?
Does it require attunement?
Yes. And yes, hence my use of that word. But a fair question, just to make sure.
I guess Kif can take a watch, is perception check at disadvantage?
14 first perception
15 second if necessary

Barnaby, nice robe you've got there.
Folks, what say we head upstairs and see if we can tell what's going on
Let's go.

Look! The flames match my hat. Perfect!

Oh, fine. Change the colors of the robe. :)

Note that there is a door practically right into the stairwell, next to Kif.
Everybody roll a Perception check.
If you roll a 10 or higher, read this:
You hear a soft moaning from the door behind Kif.
If you roll an 18 or higher, and you have darkvision (meaning not Fope), read this:
The family portrait appears to have a small plaque with an inscription along the bottom of the frame. At this distance you cannot read it.
Well what say we clear this floor first before heading upstairs

What kind of armor is it? Would it fit any one in the party?
Føpé follows Kiff to the nearest door.
Are you entering the room to investigate? You can’t get a good look at the armor from the stairwell. It seems to be human sized, though.
Yes.
Oops. I forgot the robe already had colors. My bad. :O
Barnaby moves up to help give light with Fope's candle.
Careful, in the histories, those suits of armor often come to life. Let's take a good look around this floor before we go any farther up.
