You make your way to the town square. There is, again, a short line. Again, Naomi is selling pies to townspeople. She appears as lovely and pleasant as she was the day before. Lucento and Barnaby make their way into the line, rummaging for coins.
I am trying to walk a fine line here. I do not intend to take away your agency, but obviously something is up with the pies, and you each strongly desire one. Josh and Pete, I'll leave it to you guys how you want to play that, though I imagine most likely is that you will wait in line and order your ("generic") pastries when your turn comes up. You are certainly free to talk to each other and/or Naomi while you wait.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kif will take a look about the town square while the boys are in line for a scooby snack. What's going on, do I see the captain of the guard, boys in the stocks, preparations for the next festival? 17 perception
Naomi! Tell me. What is it? What makes your pies so irresistible? I woke this morning and they are all I could think of. Is it bacon? I am suspicious that that is always the answer in situations like this.

Bacon is delicious, but we are but simple girls who cannot get so much meat. I told you yesterday, Master Barnaby, that it is our grandmother's secret recipe. I can't tell you, or my sisters would be very mad!
Like I said, I don't want to discourage you from asking questions or being suspicious, but go ahead & order your pastries, because you want 'em.

You don't see Izek. You do see something curious involving the next festival, though. Two commoners enter the town square with a guard *right* behind them, in a somewhat menacing fashion. But all that happens is they take up a stack of notices, and make their way around the square, pasting them onto the walls. The guard who accompanied them watches from a distance.
“Oh, everybody helps with the festivals. Everybody has to! But we like it, too.” She whispers: “If everybody is happy, we’re protected from you-know-who.” She returns to her normal speaking voice: “That’s what the burgomaster says.”
You walk the edge of the town square and see that there are several different ones.
Here is a sample. The Festival of the Blazing Sun flyers (the first and fifth at that link) are the new ones; the others are fading, to various degrees.
Well, does attendance required mean visitors as well, I wonder
I'm not sure how much else we can learn from the priest or school lady, but it's a beautiful day in Barovia Kif looks up at the presumably grey and greasy skies so what do you guys want to do, visit the gypsies or maybe drop in on the Berderking himself and see what's going on...or we could just pack up Ireena, sneak her by the creepy dude and make haste to the safe city several days away
Let’s go introduce ourselves to the burgermeister. You know, get the other side of the story. Presumably Barnaby notices nothing unusual about his meat pie craving?
If he’s the type to take visitors, it’d be the polite thing to introduce ourselves, right? Though lady W sent us an invitation, but we’ve received no such invite from the Burgomaster. Perhaps he attends the festivals himself?
As I've said, there is a *lot* to do in Vallaki, even beyond the things you've already discovered. It's my intention to give you guys a little bit of time to have that discussion, though I'm mindful that this type of discussion is probably where play by post is the weakest.
Well, each day with fope felt like two,so...
just kidding
Hah! :)
Almond croissants are my favorite. I hope they have almond croissants. I really really hope so.

Blue: I assumed we’d ordered already.
Not blue: Pie please.
Hey, Naomi, would you know who those guys are hanging up the fliers

That sounds delightful, my dear, thank you
Kif walks over to read one of the fliers

Good call. The skies are, indeed, gray and gloomy.

You could, for example, help a friend having a hard time at it.
I'm open to anything, including inquiries after Fope. If you wish.
Blue: That dudes crazy. No friend of mine.
I thought we did talk it over and we’re going to visit the burgomeister.
