Hello, I mean you no harm. Would you kindly open the door to three travelers that are simply looking for a place to take cover? We can provide you protection if needed.
Puddin knocks on the next door. She gets a whiff of death and decay, and there is only silence from within. There is no indication that anybody is looking after this residence.
Kif, in frustration, catches up to Puddin. Maybe she is having better luck. Barnaby is watching with interest, from a few steps back. Do you guys want to try this door?
“Look, it stinks in there, but I don’t want to spend the night on these streets. Maybe we can check it out and find a safe place to sleep. Dead people don’t hurt anyone, right? Well except that time when The Prophet Horniculies had to mow down an entire cemetery full of animated skeletons. Let me tell you about that...”
It does. The house is dark inside, in complete disrepair, and you see and hear nothing. The funk of death and decay, however, is stronger with the door open.
Ok, I'll turn the clock back a bit, and accommodate.
Kif stands on his tiptoes and it's still not quite tall enough, but there's an empty crate you can slide under the window. With that boost, Kif gets a good look between a couple of planks, and with his darkvision, he sees humanoid figures shifting in the darkness. They aren't really going anywhere. They're just shifting in place. And with the strong stench of death detectable at this narrow gap between planks boarding the window, Kif can put two and two together: he is not seeing living creatures in there. Just danger, in the form of (likely) zombies.
KIf will knock quietly on the door of the nearest house,
Hello, is anybody home?
You here shuffling, and a pause. Then a stage whisper: Go away! Please!
We mean you no harm, we're here to help. Can we talk?
Kif takes a look about the front of the house, listening for more sounds from inside, are there windows to look in?
11 perception roll if needed
Blue: I’m probably the only one here who’s played bloodborne, but this is very bloodborne. Creepy as fudge.
Barnaby will start peeking in windows looking for an abandoned house where we can set up camp for the night.
Perception: 10
Edit: Bah, it was a good chance to have used my inspiration. Didn't think of it. :(
I want a persuasion roll from Kif, speaking of opportunities for Inspiration.
There aren't any windows low enough to be convenient for Barnaby. He does his best, but he doesn't get a good look in any of the houses.
Kif?
Oh my god....Bloodborne....YES.
Persuasion 12

Persuasion, from the least persuasive guy in town
A little bit more murmuring, then silence.
Kif briefly considers kicking the door in but figures that would probably set the wrong tone,
Well that's fine, folks, we only wanted to help
He says to the closed door then turns and begins moving toward where he can hear Puddin' knocking on doors
Puddin knocks on the next door. She gets a whiff of death and decay, and there is only silence from within. There is no indication that anybody is looking after this residence.
At this point Kif is hopefully near Puddin as she knocks on that last door

Kif is going to try the doorknob here to see if the door opens

Blue: Wait! I’m a divinision wizard. I forgot.
Not blue: “Kif wait! Have a peek in the window first.”
I would like to use my portent, and have Kif get a twenty on his perception check.
Ok, I'll turn the clock back a bit, and accommodate.

How many-ish?
