Ismark nods and gives you a friendly clap on the shoulder as he makes his way to the bar. He talks to Stefan for a few minutes. If you pause to listen, you will hear that the two are discussing the affairs of the village. Nothing noteworthy, as far as you can tell. If you would like to speak quietly among yourselves, feel free to do so. I will move you along later today, hopefully.
He seemed to be sincere. For all his friendliness, especially compared to that of the other locals, he also appears to be under a lot of stress about something.
"Sooooooo....lemme get this straight - the guy we encountered last night was vampire?! And we're TRAPPED here? This is bad news indeed. The quicker we get moving to the Burgomaster the sooner we can find a way out."
“Oh. Hey Puddin. We were going to see what Ismark here has to show us first. He seems to think it’s important. I think you were gettting more wine when we decided.”
So let me see, why is this guy being nice, except he sees us as someone who can help with his situation. But he know Strahd the evil vampire overlord of this cursed region, sent us to his father the Burgermaster...whom the count said we could get info from. And He knows that we came to the region following the wishes of the Vishanti and he doesn't seem too happy with them for some reason. We should figure out if they're the Counts servants or what...lots of moving parts here. Oh, and if we have any shopping to do let's not forget there's a market across the square from this sad tavern.
“Shopping? I just spent ten percent of my life savings on biscuits and tea. If we’re stranded in this god forsaken town then I’m gonna have to get a job here washing dishes pretty soon.”
Ismark finishes his conversation with Stefan. He returns to the table and gathers his things, and you realize he may be more than he first appeared. Wandering the tavern, he wears a shortsword on his belt. Unremarkable. Before he leaves the table at the tavern, though, he straps on the rest of his equipment: a longsword on his other hip, and a heavy crossbow on his back.
Ismark leads the way outside, and you follow as he walks south. I am Ismark Kolyanovich, as I said. Son of the burgomaster. Or, rather, son of Kolyan Indirovich. When he was alive, he was burgomaster. He died a few days ago. I'm not sure how to tell anybody yet.
The whole thing has my sister, Ireena, mixed up in it. Strahd has been visiting her as often as he can. I don't know why, but he visits her more than he visits anyone else, I think. Our home was attacked every night, night after night, until my father died. Three days ago. Now Ireena and I are in the mansion alone, but the attacks have stopped.
Why Strahd wanted you to talk to my father, I could not guess. I thought that he was behind the nightly attacks on the mansion. Wolves, the risen dead, awful things. I still think so! But my father is dead, so I leave it up to you to figure out why Strahd wanted you to talk to him.
The roads are very dangerous. I want to take her to Vallaki, a village further from Ravenloft. Here, we are in the castle's shadow. Look! He points, and in the distance to the northwest you can see Ravenloft high on a hill. It's never far away. Please come with me to Vallaki, to protect my sister and to get her away from Strahd.I hear Vallaki is defended. Here we have nothing but despair. He looks up at Mad Mary's home, where you can again hear Mary wailing away.
Bold: sort to hear about your father, it was only last night the count told us to visit the burgomaster. Surely the count knows he’s dead, is there a new one in place. If I may ask how did he die? Where is he now?
Well, friend, that is why I asked you about what the Count said. I do not know why he would have encouraged you to visit my father, if he gave you no particulars, but that is between you and him.
Perhaps you will visit the burgomaster - the mayor, you might call him - and he might have something to tell you about hospitality in the village. You will go further into town, if you wish to see him, and then a right in the town square. You will go to the end of the road and find his mansion there. I am sure he will be quite informative, upon the matter and manner of hospitality in this place.
You do recall, Kif, the curious way in which the Count presented this idea. Whether you act on that recollection or not is up to you.
Blue: thanks doing this on a phone isn’t easy and I tend to edit
bold:I will say that the count really felt like the burgomaster could specifically inform us of the matter and manner of the hospitality around here, whatever that mean
What was your fathers relationship with the count? And exactly how did your father die
He walks quietly for a moment, and then just stops in the middle of the street.
The sun is almost but not quite penetrating through a fine layer of clouds, and the weather is warm for autumn. It's a nice day, if you're not distracted by zombies, werewolves, vampire nobles, and evil living bushes.
Strahd's minions - wolves and zombies and worse - prowled outside our home every night for weeks. Howling, shouting, and groaning, every night until sunrise. My father, who has always been Ireena's protector, could take it no longer and his heart stopped. That is how he died.
You say that the Count told you that you would visit my father and learn from him what hospitality we have to offer visitors, here in the village. I think, in a way, he spoke the truth. What shelter do we really have here? We are at his mercy. Maybe he was even threatening you.
“We’ll be happy to join you just as soon as we finish our biscuits. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day you know.”
Ismark nods and gives you a friendly clap on the shoulder as he makes his way to the bar. He talks to Stefan for a few minutes. If you pause to listen, you will hear that the two are discussing the affairs of the village. Nothing noteworthy, as far as you can tell. So I guess we'll go with him to see what's up. Seems like he's on the level
but anyway 13 insight check
He seemed to be sincere. For all his friendliness, especially compared to that of the other locals, he also appears to be under a lot of stress about something.
Is he studying for his qualifiers too?
Get back to your studying, Fope!!! Go to your room!
Good luck on your tests! :)
good luck

Sorry for the delay here, everybody, but I am busy today, and I have a bit of storytelling coming up that I want to make sure I get right.
I will get to it this evening.
Nope. You’re fired.

Bold:no real particulars, just that the burgomaster could answer some questions, he never mentioned a name.
