Fope, I think we were literally damned if we did, damned if we didn't. We had to get to the bottom of what was going on, but going back, to risk everything, when we can accomplish the same hopefully by burning this place down, seems unwise
Erg! The creature is in a cave beyond a room full of water two stone stories down. Down there with Pudin. ... We can plan. We know we're faster than it. We can lure it into the spike pit! You're the only warier I know who fights when he should run and runs when he should fight. I'll be damned if I'm doing any more push ups.
Sends the juices to your muscles instead of your brain.
Føpé turns around, angry at abandoning Pudin, and looks to the edge of the forest to gather some firewood for dinner. He'll lay some traps to catch breakfast, and generally go about the business of making camp for the night, far enough from the house so as to be safe from the fire.
Puddin is dead Fope. We cannot change that now. There weren’t even any remains left of her. We went in there looking to save a family that turned out to be dead already. We laid their remains to rest and came away with some supplies that will most likely help us in our endeavors. It is not a victory. We lost a companion. All that could come of returning is more loss. Lucento, I am Barnaby. An aspiring mage with a bit of a focus in divination. I also hail from Waterdeep. It is a pleasure y to make your acquaintance. If you ever spent much time in the grand library then we certainly crossed paths.
Full rest with a rotation of watches would be 12 hours (3 shifts of 4 hours each; every person taking a 4 hour watch still gets 8 hours' rest). It's 5:00pm now. If you wanted to set out the following morning at 8:00, that gives you 3 hours + a 4 hour watch, or a total of 7 hours. Feel free to correct my math if that doesn't look right.
You mean 4 shifts 3 hours each, since there are four of us.
I'll take third watch so that I can best mope.
Føpé will begin his watch, when he finally has some privacy, by communing with the tree spirits. There are so many trees here. Do each of you have your own spirit as trees do on the Soft Planes?
Føpé studies the trees. What does he see? Perception: 6
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I guess Kif will take 2nd watch
4 perception and enjoy watching the old building continue to burn I hope this will at least let the Durst children rest a little easier. I wonder whether that monster in the basement was the cause of the evil or just an opportunity feeder the house was all to willing to support, even after the original ******** were dead.
He'll spend some of that time studying that cloak he shoved into his pack, see if he can figure out what it is
You mean 4 shifts 3 hours each, since there are four of us.

You can certainly take 4 shifts, if you want. Either way it adds up to 12. It was not a mistake on my part, though.
It's a big house, and it burns through the whole night. After midnight the fires are more or less gone, but it is still a huge, smoking ruin, and the smoke and ash cloud your view of the trees.
The night passes without incident. You all level up. Please share your Level 4 character sheets with me from Dropbox. Pete, I'll explain. ;)
Also, Kif had basically the whole story, so he wins the prize and gets the Inspiration. Robert, discovering what Elisabeth had done with baby Walter, killed himself. There are other details, too, that I'll keep to myself. :)
edit: Except to add that the Rose and Thorn you saw outside the house were illusions, created by the house itself. As I believe Kif guessed.
OK, morning is breaking, we've recharged stuff. The pain of Puddin's loss is still a raw thing, but were moving on
He voids his bladder onto the ruins of the house
So folks, up and at it, we've a long way to go to get Ireena to Vallaki and the less time on this road the better. How are you feeling my lady, you did so well during that unintended trip in hell's house Kif glances at the smoldering ruins. Lucento, thanks for caring for Ireena. We are on a mission to deliver her to safety to Vallaki, If you'd like to accompany us, and perhaps help us all find a way back home that would be fine. I think we're all a little shaken after losing our friend and would welcome a calming influence. Oh, and is there any chance you might have some coffee on you?
I hope we can take comfort in knowing no more will fall prey to this shithole
Kif pulls Føpé aside when he has a chance, if Føpé is willing
It sucks, it hurts it's so hard to lose someone you are attached to like we lost Puddin' I don't know what we can do to make it better, I'm not sure one path or the other would have had better outcome, maybe, but you can drive yourself mad thinking about that. As a soldier and a sergeant I had be part of choices, some of them mine, that led to deaths that pain me to this day. It hurts but you have to move on, and as long as we are in this hostile land, I'm treating everything as if we are at war and I will do anything in my power to make sure we come out of this in one piece. Puddin made a choice to put herself in harms way to heal me and, while I never would have asked for that, it was a brave sacrifice that I will honor to the end of my days. Try to understand in your time.
Kif turns back to the campfire and throws a few more branches on it

Kif looks at Lucento tending to Ireena
Thanks for your ministrations, friend

Oh Føpé, I ran to keep you and Barnaby and Ireena from suffering her fate
Kif starts making camp as well
Ireena stirs under Lathander's protection. Lucento's spell seems to have eased her rest.

Blue: If I spend the remaining evening and all of the first watch copying spells into my spell book, how much time would that be?

He'll also spend some time leveling up.. yay!
Revenge saw a lot of action. How do I level him up?
Barnaby will use 4 hours to copy and learn Dark Vision, and 2 hours to copy and learn magic missile.
First watch perception: 21 (If it's with disadvantage because I'm copying spells into my spell book then lower of that or 6)
Portent rolls: 11, 6
Revenge is a wolf pup who cowered at your feet the entire time. Revenge does not level up at this time.
Ireena, however, does. I will take care of that.

Thanks, Yep, knew it, bait, like a big angler fish. esp once we saw their real spirits
Did I get a read off the cloak?
Yes. It is a Cloak of Protection, and should now be visible in Roll20.
Tailored no doubt to fit my fine Dwarven form...daddy's got a new set of threads
It does fit you comfortably.
