No need for me to wait on you guys for this. Go ahead and roll your survival checks. On a 16 or higher, read the following:
You realize that the river below you is flowing in the direction where you would find the Vistani camp where you met Madam Eva. Lucento, if you're reading this, that means nothing to you. You can ignore this.
Also everybody roll a Perception check. If you roll a 13 or higher, read this:
You see a narrow dirt path from the pool, far below you, that hugs the riverside as it disappears to your east.
You cross the bridge without incident. It's slippery, but wide and sturdy enough. The gargoyles don't do anything besides sit there, looking scary.
Now the mountain rises on both sides of the path. Even here, in the mountains, the forest and the fog are inescapable. Ahead, the dirt road splits in two, widening toward the east. There you see patches of cobblestone, suggesting that the eastern branch was once an important thoroughfare. The more heavily traveled road toward the west is the road to Vallaki, you know.
Friends, I think this river leads back to where we met that old sooth sayer, whatshername. And look, there's a little path through the woods that follows the river. Funny. Any reason to go back to that place? I suppose it would be a safe spot to spend the night so that we're not out in the dark. That's something worth considering.
The path you are seeing is a thousand feet down, at the bottom of the waterfall. I am not saying that you can't get there, but I want to make sure you know. If you guys want to give it a shot, I'll rewind to the bridge.
edit: And you already had Inspiration, from something.
Kif clearly almost falls off the bridge after a brief touch of vertigo from the distance
Barnaby, the way my luck seems to be running I really don't want to fall a thousand feet and I doubt we could get down there and back to whatever encampment was there before night falls, let's move on
Fope, you still have that lantern from the house, right, just in case it gets dark enough for you and Ireena to need guidance
Looks like this path to the right goes to Strahd's castle.
Føpé feels the weight of his new crook in his hands. It feels good. Like he's a shepherd again.
You will be my new crook. I'll have to shape it properly with my knife.
I still have the lantern. He tells Kif. That stupid heavy lantern.A fellow should never need such a big heavy thing under an open sky. It’ll just ruin my night sight if I use it.
This is my new life, the plains are behind me. If I am to survive here, I’ll need the lantern.
Føpé throws his new crook into the woods.
Perhaps this place will remake me so that I can defeat Gågor. As a shepherd, I never had a chance.
Føpé looks to Revenge trotting at his side. At least one good thing has come of this.
Hang on to the lantern, Føpé, I hope we don't need it, but it's better than a candle, this place by it's very nature seems to be a dark realm, unlike your plains
So tell me, what makes a good crook, it sounds like it's more complicated that it seems, are there preferred woods or is it the shapes, I'm sure not any branch will do
Oh and Ireena, how are you faring back there, is all well?
Hold on a sec. The map of Barovia was *already* linked in the OP. Right at the top. Also, Fope *already* had Inspiration. So ignore my previous post. :)
Pétanque is a game with stone balls. A talented player will have smoothed his or her stones to perfect spheres, like the eyeball we found, and roll them across the grass toward the target. The closer to the target the better, or if you hit someone else's ball and push theirs away from the target that's good too. It's fun.
I once played in the intertribe at the Great athering. It was my turn to set up a target, so I stole Elder Nucker’s angry chicken, and spread some feed for it. I declared the chicken the target. After some commotion, the judges agreed that technically that was allowed, even if this was a first.
Though I lost when Gågor hit the chicken hard enough to kill it, Plepip thought I was so funny she finally agreed to go out with me.
He smiles, and then his thoughts move forward to a sadder time.
If we meet the Visante again, we must try to convince them to bring my brother here. Perhaps we can trade for it now that we have some loot. They brought us here, and only they come and go. It’ll be my best chance at revenge before this place kills us.
I would have looked to avoid another night on the road or traveling in the darkness, but I bow to your strategic experience.

Wow! On the money with those dice.
Inspiration for Barnaby for hitting both DCs on the dot.

Inspiration for Fope, for getting us another map!
This is an image of the map you guys picked up from Ismark, Ireena's brother, in Barovia.
This time I'll link the map in the OP, for quick reference later.

I'm well enough, Master Kif. Well enough.
She arches her eyebrows at the forest crowding the road.
