These are all bedrooms. Each one has several beds for children of various ages. All are currently unoccupied except for the one at the opposite end of the hall from the window. That one has three cribs in it, and there are two girls - one an older teenager, the other one younger - sitting in it. They are watching the party curiously.
You are welcome to take a closer look in any of the rooms or go into the nursery and talk to the girls there. Whatever you want.

The 10-year old noticeably recoils. Felix??? No. She shudders. (I'm not asking for an Insight check because I don't want you to get upset, so close to Christmas.)

She sniffles a little. I don't know. Nobody was there when it happened. But they'd been fighting about something. Headmistress thinks Sedrik just fell, but I don't know. If you find Felix, I hope you take him away!

Presumably, ceilings being considerably less than 30' high, Barnaby's detect magic would have covered this floor as well.
Barnaby will cast detect thoughts prior to entering the nursery, and then approach the girls. Hello young ladies. Don't the two of you just look lovely? My name is Barnaby Fizzlepop. My friends and I have come to try and help with some of the unfortunate events that have been befalling this most noble of institutions. We're looking to improve (insert boy's name here)'s condition, and also are concerned about the tragic passing of young (insert other boy's name here). Each room has several slight sources of magic. Based on your recollection of the spell and close examination of each room, you identify runes lightly scratched into each bed. If anybody speaks Infernal, let me know.
Also I should have let you roll an Arcana check but I already said it. Barnaby recognizes the runes as Infernal.

I'm Fanya, says the older one. I look after the little ones. This is Tessa, with a jerk of her head indicating the younger one. She keeps me company.
Sedrik was Tessa's, umm, special friend. When Felix got here, just a couple of weeks ago, he and Sedrik got into some arguments. I think Sedrik took something of his. A necklace or something. Felix got annoyed, and somehow the necklace opened up or something in the fight. Headmistress took the necklace. Felix has been real creepy ever since, and Headmistress doesn't think anybody did anything bad to Sedrik, but Sedrik was not stupid enough to jump out a window. I don't think.
Did Barnaby pick up anything with his detect thoughts? Barnaby will pull out the necklace and give it a serious look over now that it seems to be involved with the bad juju around here. Arcana: 18
An 11 is enough to know that "bad juju" is probably about right. Between the Celestial inside the locket, and the Infernal on the bedposts, there is definitely something going on here.
Nothing interesting from Detect Thoughts. They are both sincere enough in what they had to say.

Also at some point Sedrik fell to his death from the window that shows signs of claw marks of something trying to stay in
Beds show signs of Infernal writing and pendant headmistress give us that is evil shows signs of celestial writing.

Barnaby, you've mentioned Celestial and Infernal, Infernal sounds pretty bad, isn't celestial good? why would it be associated with something evil, could something have been trapped in the pendant, Lucento, any ideas. I'm just a nitwit fighter
Yes, that’s an excellent summary.
Celestial and Infernal are languages, neither good nor bad. I know that your insinuations are more related to who is most likely to speak them, and in that, you are correct Kif. But, we must be wary of our assumptions. As a wise teacher, Benny of the Hills, once said to me, "When you assume, you make an..."
Regardless, this odd mix of the languages is both concerning and confounding.
Ma'am, is there a place in town where a person might be able to purchase a valuable gem? It would seem that this necklace may be involved in some of the nefarious events taking place here, and a diamond of some worth is necessary for a spell that may illuminate its purpose to me.
