Kif is going to feel terrible for a moment if this thing turns out to be just ugly and not hostile...in this grey land and real life quarantine he has forgotten all social skills
I'm not saying they did this, perhaps this is a missing girl that some other foul agency has corrupted. There are plenty of foul agencies about this place
Kif braces himself while his mates get ready
Barnaby: Yes Kif, I apologize, I did not read your post closely enough before, but now I see what you were saying. Did we not also meet a grieving mother, when we first arrived in town, whom we perhaps told we would keep an eye out for her missing daughter? Perhaps the GM will help remind us so we don't have to dig back through all those posts. Meanwhile, if this is her, she does not look in a good state to be bringing back, so...His hand lifts up and he points at the girl with his jaw rigidly set.
Firebolt: 25 to hit for 10 fire damage.
Chubs: Moves forwards (up to 40') to engage scary demon child. Two attacks with the Gulthias Staff: 12 to hit for 24 damage; 17 to hit for 8 damage.
First battle with fun new level five abilities! Woot Woot!
Edit: Oops...wrong damage rolls for Chubs. Here's the corrected ones: 10, 8.
On closer inspection, this child - this walking corpse - appears to have been dead for some time. It’s not a recently-missing child. The woman you’re thinking of was in Barovia, weeping for her disappeared teen daughter. That may not be the missing “child” either.
Nah, I was thinking about the line from the card reading < She places this card in the top position, and stifles a gasp. The Tax Collector! The image is a woman - all the cards appeal to be humans - studying a list, with a sack at her feet. The sack has splitting seams, and is spilling coins onto the road around her. The Visanti have what you seek. A missing child holds the key to the treasure's release.>
The members of the party are generally aware that this creature is not a zombie, despite the rotting flesh. It is more deliberate, and is showing more anger, than zombies you've known.
As Misalyk approaches the creature, she whips the longsword at him with her prepared action. She slashes him across the chest, dealing 7 points of damage.
Everybody's blows strike true, and the creature takes a series of terrible blows, and it staggers backward. Furious, she rushes Misalyk, and swings her sword at him twice. She hits again both times, shrieking all the while, and dealing 19 more damage. Misalyk is staggered by the blows, but is still standing.
first attack Kif will use bonus to do feinting attack, for advantage but he will also do a great weapon thing making attack roll -5 to add 10 to damage
16 if that hits damage is 22 plus 7
second attack is straight up 20 to hit for 10 damage
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(if Kif doesnt' kill it)
Misalyk gasps as the hits cut into his body. Whispering a childhood melody he summons the strength to fight more. (bonus action healing word 3rd level 11). He then takes a guarded pose and strikes at the creature again. 14 to hit. 12 damage + 1 defensive flourish damage (and this is added to my AC until my next turn.)
So hp: 7+6 = 13. AC is 15+6=21 until my next turn and I will use a reaction to add +3 if it is going to hit an AC 21. Hp is 20 if the reaction from before my turn was successful at preventing damage.
The zombie-ish creature collapses. Its remains sink slowly into the earth, leaving behind the scraps of clothing it wore and the unremarkable longsword it wielded.
Nothing. It’s an unremarkable, unmarked weapon. The clothing is also ordinary, tattered rags. You can choose between a short rest, taking some precious daylight, or hustling on without one.

Knowledge checks would be Arcana or Religion.

12 Religion
Barnaby and chubs both have the same bonuses for arcana and religion.
Barnaby 14
Chubs 8

Everybody goes!
(reaction to increase my AC by 3, will that change the 7 damage?)

Chubs, eye cocked: What an unremarkable looking longsword.
for an unremarkable sword it did a remarkable amount of damage to our friend
Kif looks closely at it, what does he see 4 Investigation

Misalyk, what say you, you were hit this round, do you need a bit of a rest?
Misalyk pants but slowly sings himself a calming song. 8 (2nd level cure wounds self.
@ds3272 am I at 24 hp or 31? I'm not sure if the reaction I used was effective.)
"I'm okay to continue. Just kinda took the wind out of me for a sec."
Yes, that reaction triggered.
Sorry it’s been slow. It will continue slow this week, too, though things should pick up a bit on Friday and for the following week or so.
No worries. So yeah 31 hp and ready to roll.
