Poking around in the kitchen on the way to the door, a cook pot's lid suddenly flies up, banging against the stone ceiling and falling to the ground. A purple, misty and glowing figure swirls angrily from the pot. It's empty eye sockets, jagged teeth and nails, and wispy hair give it an even more menacing appearance. Around the kitchen, pots and pans rise off the counters and the range, floating alongside the specter. "Who disturbs..." it says with a rasp.

Looking up from his pump, Bronx's face splits with a hideous grin. He covers the distance between him and the foe in a few excited strides.
"GO BACK TO SLEEP, PURPLE THING!" He politely suggests in his much-practiced dungeon delving inside-voice, rattling the crockery on the table with sheer volume. His warhammer reinforces the point.
Attack: 18 Damage: 4
A flash of red glare in his eyes, and with superhuman speed, the warhammer reverses its trajectory in a brutal backswing! (War Priest feature 1/3)
All three attacks hit, although Bronx's strikes seem to hit with a lot less oomph than he expects, mostly passing through the creature. As such, the specter appears to be de-cohering quite a bit but it has not yet succumbed.

Kaltent steps towards the spectre and booming energy sheathes his rapier as he stabs at it. He then backs away again and tries to find something to Hide behind.
Attack: 12 Damage: 5 +3 from sneak attack (since another enemy of the spectre is adjacent to it) + 3 thunder damage (booming blade), +4 more thunder damage if he moves. Rapier is magic weapon and pact weapon if it makes a difference for damage
Move away from the spectre, behind something that gives me cover if possible (No AoO from spectre due to Fancy Footwork class feature)
Bonus Action: Hide (if I was able to get behind cover) 19
Zinnlooks up with annoyance as he examines some of the old equipment. He furrows his brow and grumbles in Draconic, and turns his attention back to the old magical debris, as he lets his companions slay the useless specter.
(Sorry for the delay in posting! Had some tough days this week.)

The only obvious warning appears to be the sign. Opening the door reveals a bedroom. A dusty bed stands with its headboard against the north wall. At the foot of the bed rests a locked wooden chest. A desk in the southeast corner has stacks of musty old tomes atop it. An old rug woven with arcane symbols lies in the middle of the floor.

"It's entirely possible," Kaltent responds to Shift, deadpan, making no move towards the room or actually look for any sign of traps.
After a few moments (and I'm sure, a long-suffering look or glare from Shift), he relents. "Oh fine, let me take a look."
He walks over to the door. "Move over for a minute," he tells Bronx, unable to see through the half-orc, "let me see inside."
Once Bronx has moved, he takes a look around the room for himself (staying outside for the moment). "There's probably a trap in that desk," he quips as he sees Zinn inspecting the books. Then turns more serious as he looks over the room with a thief's eyes, scanning for any signs of actual traps, especially around the chest and the desk. Investigation: 9
While he's at it, he also looks over the rug to see if he recognizes any of the symbols. Arcana: 20
Shiftreturns Kaltent's deadpan stare, but has a slight frown in the mix.
As Kaltentspeaks again, Shiftrolls his eye's, but there is a grin tugging at the edges of his mouth and eyes.
Shiftstays near the door, unwilling to go near the rug with the mystical arcane symbols on it.
Shiftputs a hand on Bronx'shoulder,
"Best we wait a second for Kaltentto have a look for trouble. I suggest you stay off the rug when we go in, arcane symbols on stuff can be a bad sign."
Zinc shuffles over and begins to examine the books.
Zinnfinds stack of dusty tomes, all of them blank (20 old books, each worth about 10 gp.)
Kaltentdoes not recognize the arcane symbols at all. The desk appears to be safe and is largely filled with junk. The chest, however, is definitely trapped with what looks like a lightning trap.

Bronx continues to pump, attempting to overfill the basin.
Kaltent follows Shift into the lab, using his arcane senses and knowledge to look for anything of interest.
Arcana: 15
It all appears to be old, useless junk. Some of the scrolls crumble at the touch and the components are nothing but dried, useless dust.
Shift looks over at Kaltent,
"I don't think any of this is going to be useful. Even with your new value adding magic, this stuff isn't going to work."
"It would probably just fall apart while we tried to sell it, if it even survived the journey."
Shift pokes one of the items only to watch it break and crumble.
Shift heads around into the kitchen, seeing the door the group decided not to try their luck with last time.
"Hey Kaltent, should we have a look behind this door? I wonder if anyone still uses the room beyond."
Shift looks around trying to judge if the kitchen is as unused and old as the lab appears to be.
Investigation check to try and roughly determine when someone last made use of the kitchen: 13

Knox | Warforged | Cleric | Shadowthorn's Out of the Abyss

Initiative:
Specter: 5
Atuan: 16
Zinn: 12
Kaltent: 23
Bronx: 7
Krennic: 11
Statue: 17
(Everyone goes in any order before the specter!)
Shift lets out a growl and jumps back from sudden explosion of kitchen equipment.
Shift takes on a more Kitsune like form, but with all white fur except for some red lines and symbols on his face and head.
"Dam ghosts! Cant just stay dead can you."
"Guys! We have some company in here! I could use your help!"
Shift backs a little further from the Specter, nearer the entrance to the kitchen.
Shift raises his arm over his shoulder like he is about to throw something at the Specter.
As his arm comes forward the lower half of his arm transforms into a vine like whip, covered in little hooked thorns.
The vine like appendage lengthens out as it travels forward and down, reaching the Specter by the time it comes to the horizontal.
Move: East further from the Specter, but still within 30ft
Action: Cast Thorn Whip at the Specter: Attack: 12 - Damage: 12 piercing spell damage - Choosing not to pull the target if the hit lands.
Also, Shift kind of looks like this:
But with all white fur, and his cloths are different etc.
His head looks a little more like this:

"Nicely done."
Shift reverts to his normal bloodless white form, a lopsided grin on his face.
"So, should we have a look through the door?"
Shift points out the door in the corner of the kitchen.
Shift approaches the door and examines it for anything of note.
Perception check on the door, to see if there is more than the "keep out" sign, that is of note: 6
