As the group stands before the door to the south, Morph silently communicates with Lucy.
"Lucy my dear, if you could run some trip-lines of webbing back along the passage, and then bring a line up to the door."
"I'm going to have you keep watch for anyone coming from behind."
"If you spot anyone or sense them through the webbing, let me know."
Lucy has 30ft Darkvision and Web Sense: While in contact with a web, the spider knows the exact location of any other creature in contact with the same web.
It appears there is a room ahead with at least 2 passages heading north. I was thinking, mainly just to get the familiars to check a little ways ahead and make sure we aren't set upon from that direction while we check the room.
My suggestion was more for the familiars to go and check for creatures on their own, not to make use of the remote sensing feature. I was thinking they can keep a look-out while we investigate the room behind the door.
Titus grins at Morph and Laniel “Hehe, leave no door unturned! But come now, I don’t need Laniel here to open my doors, pull out my chair or tuck me in at night!” He chuckles as he braces up against his shield and readies his axe. “Ready on your mark.” He puts his hand on the door to the South passage and looks to the others for confirmation.
OOC: Titus will open the door if the party is ready, or wait if we want to scope out more of the passage first.

(Gotcha. In which case Rethan just sends Midnight out to scout, not taking control personally)
Laniel pushes open the heavy door, revealing a small passageway that leads to a second door. Between the outer and inner doors is a goblin, crushed beneath a 4-foot-square block of stone that has fallen from the ceiling. Only its gangly legs are visible.
The inner door is made of thick stone and is flanked by bas-relief carvings of dwarves, their faces and beards chipped away. This door is clearly a door in spite of any visible handles or hinges. When Laniel pushes on it, it does not budge.
The door does not appear to be physically trapped but it is locked tight somehow. The door is enchanted, although Morph cannot identify any school of magic associated with the enchantment.
"Any ideas?" Saralyssa asks as she nods to the door. "Not my specialty, but does someone have the ability to knock or dispel magic the door?" She waits for a response. "Otherwise we'll have to break it down or leave it alone..."
Titus tries to push against the door, somehow unconvinced by Laniels attempts. After assuring himself that it was in fact magically locked he calls upon his divine magic and cats dispel magic on the door. “Not to worry, we will be through here in no time with the divinity of the law and order on our side.”

"I could summon Sabastian back, and then have him appear on the far side of the door..." (Can I do that, have him appear in a place Saralyssa cannot see? It is still within 30 feet of her...)
Sabastian appears on the other side of the door. He conveys to Saralyssa the following.
An unusually large xorn, 10 feet tall and 10 feet wide, sleeps soundly in the middle of the room. While asleep, the creature remains standing, its mouth and eyes closed, its arms hanging limply with knuckles scraping the floor.
Twenty cubes of solid granite measuring 8 feet on a side are arranged about the chamber.
Four unfinished statues situated around the room have piles of chipped stone around their bases.

"Rethan, Saralyssa, do you want to send Midnight or Sabastian ahead to check around the corner, while we have a look inside this room?"
"I've sent Lucy back to set trip-lines so she can monitor our rear."
Morph turns to Titus and Laniel.
"Laniel, you want to open the door for Titus? Saralyssa and I will stand back, so you three can enter first."
Morph indicates Rethan, Titus and Laniel.
"Unless anyone has an objection or a better idea, that is."

Saralyssa nods and sends Sabastian to look around the corner. Are we talking about the two passages going North, or something else?

Saralyssa is just letting Sabastian scout and report back through their mental link. She is not going into his scenses.
"Ready when you are." Saralyssa says.

"So....clearly there's traps here," Rethan says dryly.
"Well there may have been."
Morph looks down at the crushed goblin, before having a closer look at the door Laniel tried to push open.
"Hhmm..."
Morph looks the door over, looking for magic and or any clues as to the nature of the door.

The spell appears to have been dispelled but there is still no clear way to open the door, nor does it budge when pushed.
His spell failing to get them through the door, Titus mutters a decidedly less divine curse as he tries in vain to force the door open.

"Wait...you can do that?!"
Morph grabs his Medics Handbook and flips through to the area where he has the spell and any extra information about it.
It does appear from the text of Find Familiar, that sight is not required for the re-summon location of the familiar, so if the DM is ok with that....
