As you lift the tarp you see a man in his early 30's, looking scared. His clothes appear to be of fine quality though quite the worse for wear. At his wrists you see red marks on his skin where it appears he was tied up recently. As he looks up at the two of you his eyes turn questioning. "You're not... you're not with them?" he asks with a touch of hope in his voice.
”Are you friend? The Floom?” Lockbox asks the man.

Vassa: As you help him up you realize that he does fit the description of Floon but there's nothing that would allow you to make a positive/definitive identification.
The man looks around slowly getting bearings as the three of you walk back out of the storage room. He quickly looks around, taking in the place and gathers himself quickly. You see his posture straighten a bit as he begins to speak. "No, I'm afraid I'm not Floon. Because of me he was taken... again. My name is.."
Before the man can finish his sentence the sounds of someone shouting near the doors cuts him off. Just then over a dozen of the City Watch come pouring into the warehouse shouting orders for everyone to remain where they are and to lift their hands. Some surround Aenio and his prisoner while the remaining walk up to where the rest of the party is standing.
A large human guard, appearing to be in charge, steps forward while passing his eyes over the dead bodies and then the party, "Zhentarim and Xanathar laid all around and here you all stand. Someone want to explain before we haul you all in for multiple counts of murder?"
Lockbox drops his weapon, not looking forward to being arrested again, “If Lockbox did the killin, there’d be more blood. Unfortunately, I only killed a door and some crates.” He says dejectedly.

As Asariel's kenku runs to the window, several of the guards and captain give chase. All are confused momentarily when the creature jumps through a closed window without breaking the glass. The captain turns to his men and starts giving orders for them to surround the building, thinking if he gives orders quickly enough they won't realize that he feel for an illusion spell. Within moments the warehouse was feeling a lot less cramped as the guard captain and two veterans walk back to where the party is standing. As he walks back he sees Asariel lying on the floor and nods his head before addressing the rest of the group. "Seems one of you owes the lady an apology for scaring her. Nobles aren't known for their constitutions."
At that, the newly rescued man pushes forth from the rear of the group. "Aye, we nobles are a fragile lot Captain Staget."
"Lord Renaer Neverember? An odd place to find you, sir." the captain stiffly replies.
"Very much has been odd these last couple of days. But time is short so let me set you as much as ease as I may." says Renaer as he walks over to Asariel and helps her to stand.
"Two nights ago Floon Blagmaar and I were out drinking. When the time came to head home I was concerned that he was too intoxicated to go alone, so I was attempting to walk him home. Unfortuantely five of the Zhentarim jumped us and brought us back here. Shortly afterwards a large group of Xanathar's crew attacked, killing the Zhentarim and taking Floon with them. Now, before you ask, Xanathar doesn't want Floon. His men were suppose to have grabbed me, and I wish they had." As he's speaking, Renaer paces around the room inspecting various items, looting a sword and belt from one of the dead, a cloak from another, but never stopping his story. "It seems my father's business is once again impacting my own life. But this time it's also hurt a friend. Captain, I aim to go find Floon." turning to the rest of the group, "You said you were sent here looking for Floon. I would welcome your assistance in that matter. But I can and will go on my own if you don't wish to join with me."
The captain pauses to consider the situation. "I don't like civilians trying to do watch work. But I'll not send my guards into the sewers to tussle with Xanathar. Do what ye must, but keep the blood off the streets?” With that Captain Staget turns to one of the guards still inside, "Round the boys up and let's search this place." then looking back over at Aenio and the bound kenku he tells the other guard, "And take the bound one into custody. At least we'll have one living prisoner to show for this."
As Renaer is talking, Kestrell looks around at the dead, looking for a rapier or short sword, a hand crossbow and bolts, more arrows for his bow, ball bearings, caltrops or a crowbar.

As the captain walks off giving orders, Renaer Neverember turns back to the party, "Being able to talk down guard captains is one of the few advantages to being born into nobility. But it is still quite the load to bare, " turning to Asariel "Wouldn't you agree Lady Velet?"
Looking back to the rest of the group, "Thank you for my rescue, accidental though it was I do still appreciate it. And I would much rather work with you to find Floon than have us double our efforts. So what do you say?"
"Sure. You can help. You don't seem like a soul-stealer. Just point me in the right direction of hitting something, anything. They took friend, now we have to go find him."

I've been in that room since yesterday and in this warehouse since the night before that. If you're going to work with me, we really need to move faster. Quite right about lend not being correct term. You've already stated that you're getting paid. My involvement just means you'll be getting paid faster. Faster if we get to moving. And I'm ready when you are, Raener. By all means, lead the way..."

'Vassa whispers this to all of his companions, but his eyes are looking directly into Asa's as he says the last part. He then hoists his still-loaded crossbow and follows Raener and Lockbox, scanning the way ahead but keeping to the shadows if possible and hanging back about ten feet behind the pair

"...Debts must always be paid, sometimes in more than blood and gold. But this is Ordo Ursa," Ren places his hand on Erakas's chest, right where the Dragonborn's heart is. "Right here. And it always has been and always will be. Don't ever forget that. Because I won't."
Serandis Mendaen (Aereni Elven Rogue/maybe one day Wizard)- Project Point Playtest
The captain turns back when you say he name. When you mention a reward he lets out a harrumph, "Son, if I had that sort of authority I wouldn't be here now would I?" he says as he walks over to a cluster of his men.
Raener appears to be detracted as you talk until you mention Floon which pulls him back, "Wha? Oh, yes, you did mention that. Who, pray tell, hired you to find Floon? And why haven't you done so yet? I've been in that room since yesterday and in this warehouse since the night before that. If you're going to work with me, we really need to move faster. Quite right about lend not being correct term. You've already stated that you're getting paid. My involvement just means you'll be getting paid faster. Faster if we get to moving. Standing around here watching the City Watch search a warehouse full of likely stolen goods isn't going to get us Floon." Motioning to Lockbox, "I agree with you, too much standing around."

DM - Waterdeep Dragon Heist PbP
"Fair enough, Captain, though maybe you could put in a good word for us with your superiors down at the station?
And I'm ready when you are, Raener. By all means, lead the way..."
'Understanding that their little hide-and-go-seek quest had likely just turned into a commando raid against a powerful crime cartell, Vassa will hang back a little and whisper to the others,'
"Maybe we let the impetuous noble go first? He's free to let his impatience claim his own life, of course, but I'd rather it didn't take any of us down as well. While big Locky there may be able to take a bolt to the chest without flinching, I would hate to see any of our party seriously hurt in this endeavour."
At Raener's mention of this being a warehouse full of stolen goods, Vassa will also open a few crates and boxes as he goes, though will only do so out-of-sight of the watch officers.

"I agree." Whispers Kestrell as he follows the rest of the group, still looking forr a rapier or short sword, a hand crossbow and bolts, more arrows for his bow, ball bearings, caltrops or a crowbar in the crates and chests.
