The crossbow bolt hits Dog high in the chest and he stumbles a step, now bleeding from yet another wound. He readies his reaction to interfere with the bandit leader's next attack. Even if Dog goes down, he'll do whatever he can to make sure the bandit doesn't hurt his fellow 'freaks.'

The bandit captain takes Tock's bolt right in the neck. He grunts, blood trickling from his mouth. Then he sets his teeth into a sneer. "I'll take one of you freaks with me," he says.
The bandit captain attacks (3, 3, 4) Doggear with his scimitar twice in rapid succession. Then he spins and thrusts his dagger at Feytok (at disadvantage, whether Dog falls or not.)

Dagger Attack against Feytok: 17 Damage: 6
His sword flails wildly at the goliath, who steps back easily out of reach, then shoves at the ruthless bandit with his shield. It isn't enough, however, and the dagger manages to scratch the fire genasi across his chest.

Dog charges back with at the bandit captain with his longsword 19 damage 4 after the flurry of attacks sail past him, spitting through gritted teeth, "you could have left well enough alone, neighbor..."
Keyrie, now in wolf form will attack the captain as well.
Bite Attack: 14 Damage: 7
(Has advantage if there is an ally within 5 ft of the target and pretty sure there is at least one person at this point. The target must also succeed on a DC 11 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone)

Feytok takes a finger and licks the blood from his wound looking at the last bandit. "You wanna try?" and rushes in for another reckless attack. Attack: 13 Damage: 11
(The bandit captain is already defeated, so I'll apply Keyrie's attack to the remaining bandit.)
Keyrie launches at the lone bandit, bringing him down with a gurgling scream. The bite is vicious and the bandit does not stand back up. Feytok charges in but is not needed in finishing off the threat.
"Aww, I was going to kill that one too" as he talks and his rage subsides Feytok picks up his daggers. "Is everyone ok, the child? If so let's see if these guys had anything of use"
They find Gentoa and Nev are rattled but safe. Nev checks the mule and the cart while Feytok and the others search the abandoned army camp.
Among the dead, they find a total of 147 GP in combinations of copper, silver, and gold pieces. They also find on the bandit captain a bag of holding that contains the following:
"How many of the rest of the bandits got spooked and ran off?" Dog asks, catching his breath from yet another near-death experience. "Can we track them down to see if they can answer some questions? Like where the army went? If they've seen fiends? What the hell happened? We can promise not to poke them with pointy things. I'm not in very good shape but can look around if that's the best option."
He takes a minute to compose himself and stop the bleeding. He checks on each of his companions, thanking them for their valor and bravery. He'd have been easily killed by the bandit without them. He takes another minute to look at the fallen bandits (are they human/wealthy/healthy/recognizable? carrying long-term travel gear? mounts? anything else of note?). Also now that he's in the army camp, his mind drifts back to his mercenary days where he's run into his share of official and unofficial armies -- what does it look like happened here? (Investigation 20)
Walking over to Gentoa and Nev, he tries to assure them that things are okay, that they'll try to find the army, and asks about their plans and hopes.
He also confers with Tyrol, who he remembers playing numbers games while he tinkered. "There's about 150 gold here -- should we split that up evenly among the five of us or put into a communal pot? Speaking of, I can't remember how much I lent Tock for that amazing crossbow, will have to ask him. Also is there any use you could think of to make of those metal jugs?"
Dog explores the camp to figure out where the army went. It appears they picked up and left quickly. A couple of tents remain up or collapsed. Two piles of gear containing 9 days of rations, 5 extra empty backpacks, 4 bedrolls, 4 blankets, 3 50' coils of hempen rope, a mess kit, 1 waterskins, and an iron pot.
Sitting on a stump, weighed down by rocks, is something Dog has only seen once or twice in his life: A map of Alcion. It appears to be a map designed for engineers and is not especially informative about where the army went or why. It depicts the recent work the army and its engineers have conducted in extending the Long Road to Marctenus. It shows the sheer size and scope of the Long Road and just how big Alcion really is.
In examining the outskirts of the camp, it appears that the army departed to the east, marching in formation. It is hard to say how long since they left, however.

Seeing his friends struggling with the Captain, Feytok approaches and recklessly swings his axe. Attack: 17 Damage: 12
Feytok's wild attack nearly clips Keyrie on the back swing but he lands it on the bandit leader nonetheless, causing a grunt and ragged breathing.
(Keyrie and Tock are up.)

Tyrol throws another fire bolt at the bandit captain, trying to end his rampage.
Fire bolt Attack: 15 Damage: 5
It is just enough to put the bandit leader down permanently.
The final bandit screams in rage and fires on (2) Keyrie in a random act of violence.
Crossbow Attack: 14 Damage: 2
Meanwhile, the remaining 2 bandits disappear into the thin woods, gone from the battlefield.
(Keyrie, Feytok, and Tock may all go. Only one crazy bandit remains.)
Tock crawls towards the other end (west) of the fallen log, peeks his head over it and fires at the remaining one (stealth check: 14):
Attack: 24 Damage: 5
Tock strikes the bandit in the leg with his bolt, who is so enraged he does not seem to even notice.
Keyrie, now in wolf form will attack the captain as well.

Oh, I forgot to mention. The bandits had 9 scimitars, 2 daggers, 8 light crossbows, 16 bolts, and 1 sets of leather armor.
Feytok is going to grab one of the daggers as a spare and begin loading the rest into the wagon. "Take what you want we may have to barter the rest."
