Friend silently glides down behind the group as they march their way back to the inn. The owl alights on Gash's head and, with a few tugs of his beak, pulls the gag out of Gash's mouth. The goblin speaks a single phrase and disappears.
Gash:
The risk was worth it. Gash appears back in Garielle's library. He heaves a sigh of relief to be back where it feels right to be.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
DM, Martin, Althus:
"A day, you say? That's not great," Dog says as Althus tells him about what happened. (Dog would try to think about what he knows about creatures and undead and spells that do that -- guessing arcana: 17.)
When Friend comes down and removes the gag and Gash disappears, Dog tries to make out the phrase Gash spoke before disappearing. He wheels around, looking for anyone looking, or Gash suddenly nearby. Perception: 15
Only Friend remains behind, fluttering and clapping it's way back into the sky towards the house.
The words Gash spoke we're definitely the spell phrase to activate the teleport helm. The undead, though, that requires some thought. It becomes pretty clear that there are few undead capable of charming others the way Gash was charmed. It is such a short list that only one stands out. Gash is in the thrall of a vampire.

Gash:
Almost immediately Gash realizes he is still bound. His blindfold has slipped some but still covers one eye. Garielle comes stomping in and, seeing Gash, relaxes somewhat. "Welcome back," she says flatly. "I will send someone in shortly to assist you."
She gives a brief, toothy smile that warms Gash through. Then, she turns and departs.

It takes a while, but another hooded figure eventually enters the library with a sharp dagger and cuts Gash free. "Mistress Garielle requests that you sit and wait," he says, then leaves promptly. Gash takes his seat and waits, blissfully ignorant of any danger he is still in.
Althus looks on in dismay as Gash disappears, "Aw jeez. He probably went back to that undead lady's place. We're gonna have to go there and fight her."
Dog would ask the paladin how you fight vampires, and if they should get Tock and Bulwark because he doesn't feel equipped to do this with half the party. He's in favor of going to get Tock and possibly asking if Bulwark wants to guard Nev and Genny.
(Cytonus that might be too much to ask and it might be what you prefer! Dog would go try to rescue his friend but my out of game posting will be decreased in the near future.)
Dog (bot) keeps walking and before they know it, Martin, Althus, and Dog are back at The White Crane. At the inn, he finds Bulwark and Tock.
"Gashis under the spell of a vampire. From what I know, they are powerful creatures. We have to rescue him but we should approach with a plan in mind," Dog says. "And we will have to find a way to make sure Genny and Nev are safe while we engage the vampire. Any ideas?
Tock says, "I mean I can go AS Neventi, by disguising myself and mimicing her voice. Can find out what they want I guess. Didn't the accords say they can't interfere though?"
He thinks for a bit, "Don't know how to make Nev and Genny safe while we do that though. I'm actually worried that Gash might find a way in here and teleport away with them."
"How about we move them to a different inn and then take it from there. Some place Gash wouldn't know. Lets go and discuss all of this with Nev. I would feel much better if we were in the same room as them."
Neventi blanches at the news. "We have to saveGash. But you're right. I wouldn't feel safe here."
She thinks for a moment. 18
"We should find a temple that has been thoroughly consecrated. A vampire will be unable to enter. Other wards or alarm spells would be helpful against a vampire's minions, of course."
"Holy water would be good. We could get that at the temple. Also waiting till sunrise if we can - vampires hate the sun I think? I am still not sure who might be listening in on us - they always seem to know what we are doing. Maybe we don't decide which temple we are headed to until we start walking, that way they can't try to intercept us. But yes, we need to save Gash. Althus, is there anything you noticed about the vampire or her minions or what they wanted that you can remember that would be helpful here? Can paladins easily take down vampires? All they asked, you said, was to wait while we all came to them. I have to assume a vampire is on the 'side' of hell, and thus the Accords apply, but maybe that's not technically correct. Let's go to a temple to keep Nev and Genny safe, then sort out our next move, which should be soon. We could try Tock's idea and gain access that way. With my protection spell and Althus' emotions spell we might last long enough to get Gash out and away, and if not, they'll not expect a fight that way."
The temple district offers several possibilities, but only two that have been recently consecrated. The temple of Helm is very close to the mason's shop, which makes everyone uneasy, but the temple of Torm is on the other side of the district and looks both solid and difficult to enter by mundane methods. The clerics of the temple also appear to be well-armed and armored, should the need arise. The most important thing, however, is that the temple has been thoroughly consecrated. They have flasks of holy water available for a donation of 25 gold.
The temple of Torm seems a good option - Dog will help someone else try to charm the clerics there into letting them stay the night. (OOC what did the Accords specifically say about interference? I can't find where I saved the link to the post...)

(OOC: Do we have a sending stone paired with one Tock has? Forgive me, I've forgotten...)
ooc: Seems we already goofed.
“Nev permanently and give its partner to Dog. I'll give you (Tock) one and take the other, then Althus and Martin?“
Gash - Lvl14 Goblin Wizard - The High Court of the Aasimar Queen
(Dog and Gash have paired stones. That is all that is confirmed so far )
(ah, well they used stones earlier, but maybe that conversation actually happened with Tock.)
(Apologies, life got nuts.)

(It's the holidays, so no worries on crazy posting schedules. I only ask that we lurch forward as we are able to keep at least a little momentum!)
