"My balls in my mouth?"The man's accent makes the word sound like "bowls". "I hope for my last meal we can do better than that, comrade. My name is Dimitri, some call me medved. Yes, I am out of place, but you as well. You three make quite a unique sight walking around here, da?"
"I see you a few days ago on trail from Neverwinter. I see you going towards Neverwinter wood, wondering what you doing here. Three armed men. I think to myself. Are you thieves? No. Are you kingsmen? Also no. I curious, so I follow. Buuuut... I am not so very quiet, you see."
The man finishes with a rueful chuckle.
"So, now you know about me. What are you doing here?"

"I come from the north villages. It is very boring there." Medved pronounces the word "it" as "eat". "Nothing there to do but fish, fight, and play shakhmaty. I eat a lot of fish. I fight many goblins, orcs, and men. I play much shakhmaty. Nothing more to do. So I come down to travel sword coast, and, how you say it? Seek my fortune."
"As for something specific, no. I am just wandering, sampling food, seeing places, meeting interesting people. You three are very interesting. I hope I do not offend, but you are not human? I have never seen your kind. I have seen Elves, Dwarves, Goblins, Orcs. But not any like you. What are you called?"

"A man after fortune, I see. I too seek fortune, as well as the continued evolution of my prowess as a Battle Master. As to what I am, I am a Tiefling, decedent of Asmodeus, Ruler of the Nine Hells, and a... somewhat former, member of House Knight." Autzen omits criminal, spy, thief, cutthroat, and lover of ale... no need to show all his cards at once.
"These are my companions, Adolmain, an Aasimar, and Rastin, our resident Dragonborn."
"As Adolmain noted, we are near our current destination of Thundertree, a town unknown to me, but I do believe I've heard some of itsHistory (3).
“Funny I thought I remembered something about a destroyed town but I think I was thinking of something else at any rate. Autzen is correct this town holds a key to a puzzle we are trying to solve and we could use another good fighter if you are interested it could mutually beneficial.” Adolmain turns to Autzen “if you remove your leather armor I could provide you with mage armor which might prove beneficial”
“Dimitri, I am Rastin Vixus, and it is a pleasure to meet a human who asks questions first and judges later. I am indeed a Dragonborn, as my companion Autzen noted, which some humans find frightening or even an afront somehow, but I sense you are a man who judges others less by outward appearance and more by actions. I hope that proves to be true because actions speak loudly with this group. Of course, that assumes your interests and ours are aligned such that you may want to consider helping us complete our mission and share in the reward. Does that proposition appeal to you, Dimitri? I would not speak for my friends here, but I at least would consider allowing you to join and strengthen our group.”
Dimitri considers the proposition. He doesn't know anything about these non human men, but they seem straightforward enough. It seems that his instincts were correct -- they are not highwaymen. Not that Dmitri expected to be attacked even if they were -- anything short of overwhelming force would be a risk, as he knew he could probably take at least one man down with him, or at least cause serious injury. And besides, he didn't have anything else going on. The little coin in his pocket was wearing thin, and he had learned quickly that a silver piece doesn't get you far in a city like Neverwinter.
"Very well,"he shrugs pragmatically. "I will join you. I only ask that we share equally. No hiding of coins or treasure. And we do not leave an injured man to die. Deal?" He moves to shake the hand of each party member, not hiding his surprise at the feeling of Rastin's scaly and strong grip. "This one must be ferocious in battle indeed," he thinks to himself, marveling at the power rippling under the reptilian skin. "And this red one, he calls himself Battlemaster. I am eager to see what he can do. I wonder about the fair one as well. He does not seem to carry a weapon, only this staff."

Appreciative, and a bit perplexed at the out of the blue offer, Autzen turns to Aldomain.
"I typically don't go about new towns half naked. What with with the red skin and wings it tends to invoke a less than welcoming reception from folks. However, this town does seem to be deserted, and I have been eager to be the beneficiary of some of your sorcery.... lets do it."
Taking off his leather and tucking it into his bag, Autzen unfurls his wings and accepts the Sorcerers offer of enchanted protection, before slipping back into his standard wear. "Thank you Aldomain"
Though nationally suspicious of roadside strangers, the literally posted threat of zombies and plant monsters calls for desperate measures. An extra strong man seems well timed. "Medved, what say you to the offers made? Care to join us for a time? There is safety in numbers... and if my Perception (9) tells me anything, I fear there are shared foes ahead"
Medved shakes Autzen's hand. "Agreed. Equal share, no hiding items of value, and no leaving a man behind," he affirms.
He then looks to see if he can make himself useful to the group. He looks around for a small animal, of which there must be many, given that they are in a fairly overgrown place.

Dimitri focuses his mind, taking in the smells and sights of the surrounding area. He surmises that Thundertree was once prosperous community on the outskirts of the forest, wealthy from the work of its woodcutters and trappers. But clearly it is now in a state of decay, and it smells of death.
He sense that something is stirring in the ruins to the east of the party…..

Dimitri hears something beyond the bushes. Nothing animal like, something strange and foreign. He moves to the front, towards the sound. He wants to show the group that he is no coward. Immediately, Rastin and Autzen move into position, the Dragonborn standing shoulder to shoulder with him, and the Tiefling stepping back, drawing his bow. Dimitri notices how coordinated their movements are, as if they were soldiers in a highly trained unit drilling an exercise they had done countless times before. No words are exchanged, and none are needed. They instantly act as a cohesive tactical unit, all seeing and responding to the likely locations of enemy attack.
The party quickly comes together….instinctively as if they had been adventuring for years. Dmitri bravely takes the lead, eager to impress.
