"Well as long as she does not mind me resting my eyes, I am certain we will get along swimmingly." The half-elf lets out a long sigh and does just that, letting the fire get to work on his bones. Without opening his eyes he asks another question of Keestake. "With the exception of the skirmish we saw earlier, have you been able to determine the size of the goblin and orc bands present on the island? And if we were to conduct an expedition to this manor, what fraction of their forces should we expect to encounter there?"
Eurim will continue to watch the old man by the fire, his eyes flickering to the dark corners of the room at new sounds or echoes from the exploring party.
This is a large room with heavy wooden tables running around most of the walls. There is a large, recessed fireplace on the east wall. It's as large as a small room, certainly enough to mount a cross-bar and roast a bull within while simultaneously cooking other dishes. The fireplace seems to be in good shape. The window's shutters are still closed, and ivy creeps in through holes in them. The tables are all undamaged, and the orcs, other than taking a few preliminary axe swings at the plaster walls, do not seem to have done much damage here.
Too tired at this point for unnecessary exploration, Janey waits for the three more energetic members of the party to finish scouting out the temple. She too watches Keestake carefully, wary of his motives in bringing them here.
Keestake says, "Not safe, not safe to light a fire in a long unused chimney. Every spring this island fills with birds and their nests. Likely its going to be blocked. In the spring I have to check the manor every day. The young lady and the girl have the right of it," he says indicating Melisana's barely open eyes, and Janey reading her books. "Wasn't much in the Temple all these years except rat hunting and egg collecting along the hill."
Lusith will nod sleepily, "I can finish looking around in the morning." Then he will kneel down, offer a quiet prayer to the gods, and lay down to sleep.
Eurim will take the first watch, citing pain from his wound as why he wouldn't sleep well anyway. He does ask that some others take the remaining watches of the night hoever, as he does need rest.
As everyone settles in for the night, Janey curls up by the fire, her cloak wrapped around her. While the floor of this strange temple is not as comfortable as a warm bed, she rests better than she has since her capture, knowing at least that she has her freedom.
OCC: I will be out of pocket Tues night - Thursday, as the in-laws are flying in from Europe. Depending on the action, I may be able to post, but unlikely. Thanks
With exhaustion overcoming everyone, Eurim takes the fist watch as the others crowd around the fire for warmth, while huddled in their meager cloaks.
Eurim
Keeping the fire alight and your eyes open becomes a harder and harder task. The occasional rustle of leaves and the skittering sound of rat claws does little to combat the lulling sound of rain on the roof and the dripping in the distance. Despite all your efforts, you fall asleep, a sense of warmth pervading your body,
Lusith
Sleep came easily, with the sound of the rain reminding you of a soft melody and you think about women and glasses of beer. The sound of a distant, silvery bell rouses you from a deep slumber. Your companions sleep, curled around the warm embers of the fire. Even Eurim, a slight smile on his face, sits against the wall with his eyes closed.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Lusith will, of course, immediately go looking for the source of the sound that woke him, trusting that the others will be safe in their sleep under the watchful eye of the goddess.
As you orient on the sound you perceive the statue of the Goddess appears to glow with a cool, silvery light, almost like soft moonlight shining through thin clouds. As you walk to toward the statue, the dirty marks and mars fade from the marble. The broken piece of nose and hand float and rejoin the statue. The eyes open on pools of bright silvery moonlight fill them, and the room fills with the same ambient glow.
You watch in shock and amazement as the statue rises gracefully from her throne, as if flesh and not marble.
"Mortal man, why are you and your companions come to my temple," she asks in a rolling voice, which somehow carries the tremble of thunder as well as the soft whisper of spring.
Lusith will kneel and avert his eyes respectfully, overwhelmed at being addressed by a goddess directly, "We, uh.. were on this ship, of slavers, who had us as slaves, but the storm, your storm? smashed the ship against the coast and we came ashore, and saw these goblins and orcs fighting and killed them and rescued that guy," pointing towards Keestake, "he said it'd be safe and we'd be welcome here. I know the gods, and goddesses of course, direct the events of our lives, so, I guess, we're here because you brought us here? Um... is there something you'd like us to do?"
The sound of voices slowly awakens you, and you awake to see Lusith kneeling before the standing, softly glowing statue of the Goddess. Her now repaired body, unmarred by the marks of the Orcs. You awaken sometime during the following statement by the Goddess:
"You see about you the results of the raid of the Hak-kubra, the pirate orcs. They have defiled my sanctuary.
When men came hither three generations ago, they slew the men of this island, but let my temple be—as is proper. Since then, my sanctuary has been subject to wind and storm, age and rot, but I was not offended, for that is nature's right—to beat down what men have raised.
But the acts of debasement you see about you have offended me. I choose to destroy this island, and all living upon it. A proper cleansing of the stain made by the Hak-kubra.
I see no reason for you to die for another's offense, however. So I will not cleanse this island this night, as I had planned, but will stay my hand another day, and lay waste to this place at nightfall tomorrow. If you are fled by then, I will adjudge you fit to survive, and the storm which destroys this place will do no harm to you."
"We thank you for your great mercy Divine One, we are unworthy of such kindness. May we know your name, that we might tell others of your greatness?" Lusith is starting to recover from the shock, but still kneeling with his eyes averted.
"Many names and aspects, I have had through the long eons, stretching back before this world. Giai and Terra, I was known to some. Arianrhod, Ki and Beory to others. By this young girl's people, I was known as the Earth Mother, and my name held secret among their Druids."
"Thank you, Divine Lady, I promise we will spread the word of your great power and mercy. With your blessing, we will leave this island to your wrath as quickly as we possible." Lusith will rise to his feet, still bowing low, and back out of the room towards everyone else, "Good morning everyone, we need to leave before the nice goddess destroys the island, where's that boat again?"

"We might want to move everyone in here, making a fire in the fireplace seems more respectful than on the floor in the lobby, don't you think?"
Too tired at this point for unnecessary exploration, Janey waits for the three more energetic members of the party to finish scouting out the temple. She too watches Keestake carefully, wary of his motives in bringing them here.
Begrudgingly, Nicholas says, “I guess that makes sense.”
Lyle just shrugs. “It’s time for rest. I don’t care about much else, right now.”

“Okay. I’m peetered out.” Lyle goes to the altar back in the main room, curls up and goes to sleep.
