Slate continues down to the corner of the hallway, checking up the stairs from the landing below, in order to gauge their options.

Perception: 13

As you round the corner, a short flight of stairs leads up to a large, iron-bound door. A bloodstained human skull is fixed to the center of the door by an iron spike.

Rowena sticking close behind Slate all the way, when they come to a stop she takes one look at the door and grins, "now this what I am talking about, nice job! Is locked?" Looking back at the others, "any unsavory types skilled with this sort of thing or do I just bash it open with my maul?"

Von holds up a flask of oil and a tinderbox. I could burn it down!

"I apologize, my lady. As a proper knight, I am unskilled in the roguish art of picking a lock."

The door isn't locked - but if someone wants to try and open it I'm going to need a Strength check from that person to try and open it (if that's your plan)

Iroona peeks around the next corner while the others decide who is strongest.

Von walks to the door and cracks his knuckles. Allow me.  he turns around, and Palaemon shoves at the door with the force of a geyser!

The door makes a lot of noise but doesn't move.  The impaled skull almost looks like its taunting you.

Rowena walks up to take her turn and puts down her maul and gives the door a go.

Rowena goes up to the door, pushes Aqualad out of the way and puts her shoulder in to the door, which slowly swings open.

Beyond the door lies a small chamber covered in poorly cured animal hides and illuminated by smoking torches in bronze sconces. The smell is indescribable. A monstrous creature about ten feet in height steps forward, a massive axe in one hand. Two huge wolves strain at chains held closely in its other hand. “You think to challenge the Great Ulfe?” the creature booms. “Vak! Thrag! At them!”

And as you file in to the room - lets roll initiative!

Von gets up and shrugs, not wanting to stay any longer. Palaemon strikes at the attacking wolf, then goes underwater (making it invisible, no AoO.). Von runs away from the wolves, about back to the hallway. He disengages. Yikes, watch out.

Sir Aldon goes for the wolf that's attacking Rowena. "Back foul creature! That's no way to treat a proper lady!"
