You spot some sort of large claw marks at the top of the ravine.. but it looks like it may have rained after they were made based on the water collected in the marks, so your not exactly sure what made them... though you could surmise.. The marks face north.
Rees rubs her thumb over the jade statue that Calcryx gave her and doesn't say anything. They made a choice and if it was the wrong one, she'd live with it.
Arxius raises an eyebrow, her eyes shifting to Shake and back again. "You want to cut him out?" She asked quietly.
At normal volume, happy for Shake to hear.
Who said he was in? We rescued him, he's not part of the job. . . as far as I know. He wasn't in the tavern when we took the job. If I was the hiring person, I wouldn't pay some random guy.
Shake pipes up. "Hey guys. You never told me the full story about how you released the murderous dragon that murdered those peaceful Kobold families and appears to be headed towards Oakhurst. That's going to make a great story to tell to the people of Oakhurst. People love stories about events that hit close to home. So, was releasing the dragon Alten's original idea, or did the evil demon inhabiting his glaive tell him to do it? I bet Oakhurst will be fascinated to know that Alten as befriended a demon." He is smiling innocently with a twinkle in his eye.
OOC best I recall, Shake wasn’t with us when I discovered the presence of Eldenser in the glaive he’s carried since training, but I could be misremembering. If so, I’ll delete this and come up with a different response.
Alten turns towards Shake, with as angry a look as you’ve ever seen on his face, even more so than when Grom slapped him.
You’re an ungrateful little shit aren’t you? You would spread lies about those who saved you in one breath after admitting with another that you don’t know the full story?
I wanted to kill that gods damned Wyrmling. Our leader made a tough decision based on the best information at hand. That’s what a leader does in the heat of the moment. But it’s clear you don’t know about that kind of thing, do you?
I guess that those who can’t lead just get to sit back and make pronouncements from safety and comfort.
And there’s no demon in my Glaive. It’s a magical sentient weapon that I've had since I started training. The divine gifts of my order would have detected demon scent on it before it ever came to my hands. It chose to reveal itself now. Why would you tell lies about a demon?
He looks at the rest of the group.
I say we knock him out and put his ungrateful ass back in the cage where we found him.
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves..." Rees says, though selfishly she wouldn't be opposed to being the one good at sneaking and stealing again. "Let's just get paid, yeah? Shake can take Chatra's share, or...maybe like....half of it. Because you were only with us for half the time. And then you know, you could pay us for rescuing you but we can talk about that...."
"Seems as though I may have struck a sour chord.Alten, please don't be defensive. I was just asking questions. No need to be so upset. I was there when you told us about how your glaive started speaking to you. You even said that the entity inhabiting your glaive was named Eldenser. That is a demons name if I ever heard one. You also stated that it only started speaking to you and telling you what to do after we all slept in the room with the dead goblin bodies. That was right after you rescued me, for which I will be forever grateful. I can't be the only one who has noticed how you have changed since that night. I mean, he just called me a little shit and proposed knocking me out and leaving me locked in an abandoned cave to die, just for asking a question. What happened to your piety? Your reverence for life?
Becoming distracted Shake ponders aloud, "I wonder if the dead bodies had anything to do with the glaive becoming inhabited by a demon?" Shake stops to think for a moment. "Did you ever ask Eldenser how they came to be in the Glaive? I bet it would make a great song."
Shake keeps speaking before Alten can answer. "Anyways, regarding the dragon, I wasn't there when you freed it, so I want to make sure I get the story right. Now you say that it was the leader's fault that the dragon is now on a murderous rampage. Good to know that you did not want to release the dragon but were just sitting back and making pronouncements while doing whatever the leader wanted. And to think I had thought Alten was the leader this entire time." Before anyone can answer, "Regardless, I would like to get all this information before we go our separate ways, so that my stories and songs can be as authentic as possible. Especially for the people of Oakhurst who will be most affected by them. I don't want to misrepresent any of your deeds. On the other hand, if we were to stay as a group, then I would have to hold off on writing my epic poem of our adventures until they are done. That could be years or even decades, and in that time I may even die without having the chance to tell everyone, let alone the people of Oakhurst, about your actions."

Is north also the direction of Oakhurst as well?

I’m assuming that’s the white dragon we didn’t kill, personally.

"Then we should keep moving," Arxius says, not wanting to dwell on the consequences of her decision.

It is indeed...
Your passive perception is a 13.. that's not too shabby.. I'd say you hear it considering your all near enough to one another.
Let's get moving lads, I don't like the looks of this after what we came across already in the temple....

I don't want money from him. Just a little honor.
Looking back at Shake
Be glad I take a more moderate approach to life. Many in my order would challenge you to a duel of honor for your words.
