Shake will ready his weapons, taking out his bow and ensuring his rapier and dagger are free in their scabbards, as he tries to hide near whatever cover is available.
Dawn arrives and you break camp. You move out and find no signs of wolves as you continue north. It's another warm day and around mid-afternoon you stop for a break. As you eat and tend to the horses you spot an unusual hill off the track to the east...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"What an unusual hill," Arxius says as she eats, nodding towards it. "I am going to take a look." She puts her rations away, wipes her fingers on her trousers and heads to the hill to get a good look at it.
Talien pats his horse and says to Alten "Then scout ahead for us if you are rushed. There is no timeframe for this items retrieval. I hope they didn't just misplace this hammer."

Yellowed bones of what appears to be wolves litter the area on top of the mound while crude runes are found carved into the rough stone pillars and circle in the center of the mound. On the center circle stone you also find a crude painting of a creature you have never seen before... it looks somewhat like this, although rougher:
Arxius jogs back to the group. "There are bones of wolves up there. Old ones. And a painting of a creature like nothing I have ever seen - and I have seen a lot of strange creatures. There are runes if anyone can decipher them?"
"I doubt I can decipher any runes, but I want to look," Rees says, "Are you sure the bones are old? I wonder if it has something to do with the wolves we heard last night..."

(Ha-whoops you can speak giant.. sorry..)
The runes tell the story of something called thunderbeasts and how they were able to harness lightening during storms. It seems the tribe who once ruled over this land used to make a yearly pilgrimage to the site of one of the largest thunderbeasts ever known which they call "Morgur's Mound", however one fateful year when the Thunderbeasts made their journey, they found their holy site desecrated. Soon thereafter, their chieftain took them back into the depths of the High Forest, and they have not emerged since.
(oh god I didn't even think, I just associated runes with dwarves and didn't question it idk)
"They were yellowed, they look old to me," Arxius says.
She fished out her ration pack again and started eating. After a moment she spoke. "Actually, now that I think about it... they looked like Giant runes. If they are Giant runes they were talking about Thunderbeasts that could harness lightening during storms. They called the site Morgur's ...pile? No... that was definitely Mound. Morgur's Mound. The tribe who once ruled this land made a yearly uh-" she paused and gestured vaguely with her hand. "Spiritual awakening- no- pilgramage. One year they found their holy site desecrated. They went back to the High Forest and never returned."
Arxius upended the rations packet into her mouth and said around it, "Cannot read Giant runes on an empty stomach, many can be misinterpreted as feast symbols."
Rees smiles at the story, making her way back over to the mound and looking through the bones for anything interesting (not valuable, necessarily, just interesting) to add to her collection.

There appears to be at least six skeletons... you look at them closer and realize they're slightly bigger than that of an average wolf. You take a few teeth as tokens.

It's hard to tell out here the sky is open, but the landscape is hilly making for weird reverberations that can play tricks on you.
You hear the howling a few more times, but then it dies down to nothing.

It looks just like this.. minus the people...
